Hi all, I am new here, but I need some advice. I have four 8 week old kittens and a mama that I have to find homes for soon.

Question #1: None of my local humane societies or animal rescues are taking cats or kittens in at this time and I absolutely refuse to take them to a kill shelter. Any advice? I just don’t know which way to go. Do I post on Craigslist and ask for a rehoming fee? Are there ANY other options at all??

Question #2: And the main reason for coming here in the first place… Mama was a stray that showed up pregnant and I couldn’t let her have her babies outside with the coyotes running around. I brought her in. She is a very small, young cat. I’m sure this was her first litter because she was having trouble pushing and I had to help two of the babies out. I have loved on them every day literally since the moment they were born and I will be so sad to see them go. How do you deal with it?? I know I’m going to ugly-cry when it’s time for them to go. 😥

    Hi Brittny,
You really have a dilemma. #1, Okay, I wouldn’t take them to a kill shelter either, period. I just can’t do it. I don’t think I would advertise on Craigslist either, same reason. There are other ways to advertise, mainly calling and talking to friends, co workers, relatives who may want a kitten and sweet mommy cat, who is probably no more than a kitten herself. Try stores like PetSmart (and others) who may be able to help you or lead you in the right direction. Also, veterinarians (when you tell them your problem) may also know of someone who wants a cat/kitten, or what your options are. It’s a crying shame that your local shelters won’t take them. It makes me angry and sad at the same time. Are you planning on keeping any yourself? 😉

Thanks so much for your response. I have a flyer posted at the local pet store but we are in a small town outside a small city (which has a population that I hardly trust). No larger pet stores here. No bites on FB either. Every time I ask if a friend or coworker wants to adopt a kitten they shut me down so fast! It’s so sad that people don’t care about cats at all! I will call around to some veterinarians, good idea! Yeah, the humane society told me to take them to the kill shelter. NOPE! I would sooner keep all of them. Yes, I plan on keeping one, Luke (as in Skywalker). She had four total so I have three to adopt out: 2 girls and a boy.

    Thanks again!

Is there a ASPCA near you? They would most likely take them and kittens adopt out pretty quickly. I do hope those three find homes. Are you keeping the Mama cat as well?
