My sister has 2 cats (One 11 yrs, one 7 months) that have both tested positive for feline leukaemia virus. Both are healthy at the moment. Unfortunately she will be unable to keep her cats, and I would like to help her in adopting them. However I have a cat of my own who tested negative and I don’t want to risk her health. I have Vaccinated her, but believe it is not 100%. Is there anyway that I could adopt these cats without endangering my cat? Thanks

I had 2 cats that were 4 and 2 when I brought in a kitten that ended up being FeLV+. Both my cats were vaccinated and had boosters, but it didn’t protect my Russian Blue. He contracted the virus and died 2 years later. I know that people have successfully mingles positive and negative cats. It is very contagious, but there is a group that does nothing but deal with this condition. Check them out!

I really hope that helps you!
