    Good morning all,

I have 3 cats. #1 is 2 years old, #2 is 2 years old and #3 is 12 weeks old. All girls.

#1 didn’t take to #2 immediately, and we did all the things you should do, keep them separate, swap blankets etc, now they are as thick as thieves and love each other to bits. That was last year, and so this year we decided to get a 3rd one, because why not.

3rd is younger than 2nd was when we got her, and because there are 2 big cats we are being more careful with keeping them separated – we’ve had her since Saturday so a couple days. She’s very lovey, purring all the time, plays and plays and plays and plays, doesn’t hiss at the big cats and doesn’t freak out when they hiss at her (we’ve only held her in the same room, haven’t gotten close to the other cats yet, letting them smell around etc).

The thing that I can’t handle right now is she will not. stop. meowing. Its not even meowing, it’s like crying/screaming. I have never heard a kitten make this noise. She is so loud, and constant. Like from midnight to 6am.

She is in a room on her own, with her own food, litter, beds, toys etc. There is no furniture in there. We had her in our room for a spell and she jumped off the bed and hurt her leg, so I don’t want to put her anywhere she can hurt herself. She limped for an hour or so and then was back to normal. This was the second night, after she had meowed all of the previous night.

I tried to sleep in there with her on the floor (we don’t have a spare bed) and she still meows – like, if you aren’t playing with me then you don’t exist. It’s not bothering the other cats but I am not kidding when I say it is so loud. I have tried holding her, she doesn’t want to be held, she wants to play. I played with her for over 3 hours last night until she stopped and fell asleep, I left, she cried. I came back in and tried to go to sleep on the floor, she slept with me for 5 minutes and then decided play time again.

I know she’s a baby, I’m trying to make her comfortable and happy, but on little sleep it’s hard 😉 Any tips?

If you have not already done so, you might consider taking her for a vet check-up. Just to be sure that there are no health-related issues causing this. Other TDKer’s experienced with more than one cat might have further advice. This is just what I would do. Take care
