Schultzy

Before we moved to Germany, my husband and I used to do foster care for kittens in Washington state. Schultzy came to us as a lone kitten with no siblings or mother. His name was Rojo at the time due to his lovely red color. Our cat Squeaky (shown on the right in this photo; Stinky is shown on the left) is a great kitty foster mommy and she took a particular liking to Rojo/Schultzy. After he spent a few weeks in our home, it was time to take him in get neutered and then put up for adoption. I dropped him off at the vet on my way to work one morning. I told my husband we wouldn’t be getting Schultzy back and I could see he was disappointed. Several days later I came home from work and lo and behold, there was Schultzy in our house! My husband had stopped by the adoption center, saw that he hadn’t been adopted yet, and brought him home. All for the sake of Squeaky, of course. The rest is history. Schultzy is now 4 years old and is our million-dollar kitty. He unfortunately has kidney issues. He is still kitten-sized and the vet thinks he just never developed properly, maybe due to being malnourished before we got him as a kitten. So, we have spent lots of money on care for that and he now gets subcutaneous fluids at home that will hopefully keep him alive for years to come!
