Please join me in meeting and greeting our newest Star Kit, Athena. She is 9 months old from Grafton, North Dakota.
Athena is the lone survivor of a feral community of cats. After a bitter winter two of the 8-10 (later realized it was a male and female) had made it through and were slowly beginning to trust my family and I. We were able to coax them into our front porch with wet cat food we purchased just for them.
One sunny morning lo and behold there were suddenly two kittens roaming around with Mom. It took a tragic turn just hours later, planting season had begun and Mom and one of the kits were caught in the field by a tractor. We spent hours looking for the second kit and prevailed although kit was not enthusiastic as we were.
She was so small and terrified of people. I wrapped her in the hoodie I had been wearing and just held her in the dark room. Hours I spent on the internet looking for what to do, I’d never been a cat owner let alone a small kitten.
She had a full mouth of teeth, walked steadily with her ears pointy and alert. I took a picture of her and sent it to my Niece who’d just finished her Veterinary schooling. I was so happy to hear that she was at least 4-5 weeks old and could eat the wet food I already had.
It took her less than two days to relax, start purring and seem to accept everyone including our Pup. No matter how many times I separated her and our Icy I’d find her curled up against her sleeping while Icy groomed her.
She now is an extremely affectionate, happy, sturdy beautiful girl. She broke everything I had thought a cat was and replaced it with the truth lol. I fell in love the second I held her, created a bond so strong the day I nursed her through a bad upset tummy day.
Tom is the owner of 4 amazing cats, and using the Daily Kitten he provides a place for cat and kitten lovers to share the love for their own cats and kittens.

Miss Athena is one stunningly sleek and beautiful noir kitty! And with the name the to have chosen your furever home. Very sad about the tragic end for Mom and fur sib, but glad that Miss Athena was saved. Your research sure paid off!
Thank you cat angel. That black cat had very good luck. As did you.
Totally gorgeous!! All she needs is a diamond collar. You’ve gone thru a lot, but that kitty love bond erases all heartache. Athena will be giving you years and years of purrrrr-contentment!
She’s a beautiful mini panther. I’m so sorry about her family, but I’m glad that she’s safe and loved.
Isn’t it nice to be owned by such neat cat as Athena. Congratulations on becoming a fellow cat person ^..^ /
Totally agree with you. Good save and very lucky kitty. But then I think all black cats are good luck.
Thank you all, she is my first purr baby and I just adore her. She’s not got two younger kits to play with now, I guess I got bit by the need to have cat bug lol
Wow, Athena is an absolutely beautiful panther!
Do sorry about her mom & sibling.
As you are finding out, a cat can change your life; welcome fellow cat-loving friend!
