Please join me in honoring the memory of today’s Star Kit, Austen. He was a 6 year old DSH from Edmond, Oklahoma.
Austen was a wonderful friend and companion. He and his brother were born on a farm just after Christmas in 2009. They were discovered and brought to a kitten rescue where I adopted them. Austen and his brother Jack were loads of fun! They were always running, jumping and wrestling each other.
Just before their 6th birthday Austen began coughing, and after a few trips to the vet it was discovered Austen had advanced heart disease. It was devastating! There was not much we could do as his time was limited and prognosis was not very good. We decided to make the best of the time he had left and was able to treat him with pills and shots, which gave him an additional three very good months with us before we had to make the difficult decision to let him go. He was a great cat and his brother still misses him almost a year after he passed.
Tom is the owner of 4 amazing cats, and using the Daily Kitten he provides a place for cat and kitten lovers to share the love for their own cats and kittens.
Pounce! So very sorry for your loss of well-loved handsome boy kit Mr. Austen.
Mr. Austen had a wonderful life with his furever family. Often our furries leave us too soon but now Mr. Austen is watching and waiting in Meadow.
I’m terribly sorry that your lovely cat died far too young. Hope his brother is a little less sad now.
Thank you for giving Austen such a good home for his life. So sorry to hear he left you & Jack so young. He was a beautiful boy. The pic of the 2 brothers together just tugs at the heart strings – so precious.
Aw, this post brought tears to my eyes! Austen looks just like my princess kitty, who at 14 years old is sadly not doing well and has a variety of ailments. We too are keeping her going with medication. What a beautiful boy Austen was and hopefully Jack will feel better soon.
My heart goes out to you and Jack! It is so hard when our purr babies leave us no matter what age. My Smokey is 14 years old and I know that our time is limited, but he seems to be okay for now. I lost his litter mate sister, Misha 2 1/2 years ago and we both still miss her. We have to realize that our final act of love for these precious babies is to let them go. I tear up just thinking about this.
Sorry to hear of your painful loss. Having lost many wonder cats through the years, I know how it feels when you need to make the decision to euthanize an animal to save it from further suffering. Just know he was loved and cared for by you, his human caregiver. RIP Austen
Godspeed, beautiful Austin.
Austen was such a handsome guy! Thank you for giving him the rich life he deserved with the time he had.
