Please meet and greet today’s Star Kit, Squirrel. He is 2 years old from Rochester, Minnesota.
Meet Squirrel. The name comes from the fact that he loves to climb, and will at least try to climb anything. The higher he can get, the happier he is. Squirrel was living in the garden equipment area and parking lot of a Walmart, when I first saw him. He was about three months old, and full of boundless energy. But, he didn’t trust people.
It took nearly a month to win his confidence enough for me to pick him up and take him home … where he almost immediately decided that this was home and he liked it — particularly the unending supply of food. Despite his name, his favorite food is cheese. It doesn’t matter what kind, nor whether you offer him any or not. He’ll try to get it for himself. So, you have to be careful around this little bandit.
The black blur at the left of the laundry basket is Tribble, who was displeased that Squirrel (then 5 months) had decided he was in charge of the laundry. Still, they got along well. But, Squirrel was cat number four, and my lease says three. So, after a couple of months Squirrel made the long drive to Minnesota where he now has a forever home with a special friend of mine, her older cat Milano, and Pyewacket, an earlier rescue of mine. This is quite fitting, since the two have a great deal in common, including the area where they were both found.
Squirrel is now two years old, and I am told that he has added lots of excitement to his forever home. Everything has to be examined, everywhere explored, and anything climbable climbed, as well as having two other cats to keep on their toes. Plus, he and Pyewacket take their laundry responsibilities very seriously.
Tom is the owner of 4 amazing cats, and using the Daily Kitten he provides a place for cat and kitten lovers to share the love for their own cats and kittens.
Pounce!!!!
I love his story!
Thanks for sharing him and making sure he would be well cared for! He’s adorable. I can see why people love him.
Squirrel is a cute little cheese fiend! 🙂
Lovely story. You should write more!
So glad that you found a loving furever home for the Squirrel-meister! Guess that Tribble got his laundry duties back LOL! 🙂
Yes, Tribble was glad to get solo laundry duties back, but she spent nearly a month looking for Squirrel. She missed playing with him, since, being closer to her age than her two fur-aunts, he would frolic with her … though he would eventually tire her out. He really has only two speed settings: idle and scamper. (The “scamper” setting is one of the other reasons for his name.)
Ah, Squirrel has laser eyes! He points them at you and poof you fall in love. He’s a good looking boy and I’m glad he found his furever home.
Squee for Star-kit Squirrel w/glowing eyes!
Squirrel is quite a handsome boy! Glad you got him out of the parking lot and to his forever home.
