POUNCE!
What a cutie. He looks like the first kitten we had when first married, Fritz. Enjoy this new one … Litter – I really don’t know a I haven’t had one this young in many years, but I would put the box temporarily near his food and watch him. If he starts to wee, put him in the box, scratch with your fingers and he will understand, Praise him when he is done.
Mr. Gray is adorable. I love that he’s invented a little game with you.
With a new kitten, I have several litter boxes through the house (we have 3 floors). I feed the kitten and place it in the box and repeat placing kitty in the box throughout the day. Eventually, you can start reducing the number of boxes and finally get it down to the designated litter box place. It can take 6-12 weeks to get to the final box.
Yes, place him in the litter box after eating, because that’s when he will be most likely to need to use it. As S&O’s mama said, make scratching motions in the litter with your fingers. I’ve found, though, that cats pretty much instinctively gravitate to the litter if they know where it is. Their instinct is to bury their waste, and cat litter is the easiest thing to use for that.
I had a feline brother named Mr. Gray and a good friend living in Johnson City. Hello to all of you.
Mr. Gray is precious! He was waiting to pounce into your heart (and on your toes). Thanks for giving him a loving, furever home. Here’s to many more playful, cuddly times for all.
All good advice on feeding then litter box. Do not use clumping litter until he is, at least, 6 months. Kittens have a habit of eating litter and the clumping litter can block their intestines.
You and Mr. Gray will be experts in no time. Many happy years!
Mr. Gray is a sweetie. And he just might be a distant cousin of my kitty Dorian Gray Esq., or of fellow TDKer’s feral kit Lord John Gray. My Dorry waits until I walk by and then attacks my feet! Especially when I am wearing a flared skirt as the movement attracts him. Purrhaps playing attack is a Gray family thing! Hope that you get your litter box issues sorted out soon, great advice in posts above. 🙂
Lucky you! You got a kitten! Try showing him the box, put him in it and take his paw and scratch in the litter. They usually get it right away.
Mr. Gray is a cutie. I’m sure hell be a litter box pro in no time!
Mr. Gray is so cute – his markings are absolutely stunning!
