PLease say a huge hello to out Star Kit today, Lucy. She is an 11 year old Tiger Tabby Mix from Illinois.
When Lucy was 6 months old, she swallowed a string and had to have surgery to get it out of her stomach. Now Lucy has only 25% of her intestine left inside her. The vets only thought she would live to 5-7 years old but she has proved them wrong. Now, Lucy is a healthy cat, and may get skinny at times, but otherwise very healthy.

Your girl is special! Miss Lucy proved that even though she had major surgery as a wee kit, she was hanging around for the long run. I love her white chin. Thanks for making sure Miss Lucy shares your loving furever home.
This is a heads’ up for anyone thinking that string, yarn or floss is a good toy. Never leave it out and accessible to your kittahs.

And PG, thanks for heads up about dangerous playthings for kits. When I’m knitting I always keep an eagle eye out lest Dorry get anywhere within pouncing distance.
Sometimes, kitties think they’re goats! I’m happy Miss Lucy has been living a long and healthy life after her mishap.
I had a kitty that ate the string ties off my nightie, my sewing thread (needle attached), all but a 1″ piece of a styrofoam egg carton, attic insulation (while we were remodeling) and pretty much anything that looked “interesting” to him. NOTHING ever made him sick.
Good for Lucy! Cats can be bad about string, especially when it comes off a freshly
cooked turkey.
