This is Maximillian (furr brother to yesterdays star kit, Scrappy). In this picture he is 6 months old and from Columbia, South Carolina.
This is my favorite picture of Maxi. He’s six months old in the picture and with his “dad”, Snowball. One of the local rescues had two baskets of kittens dumped on them. Maxi and his identical brother were in the first group and were about 6 weeks old and eating solids (mostly). His soon-to-be adoptive brother, Scrappy, was in the second group of 14 were mostly in the three week range and were all bottle babies. We mainly got Max to help snap Snowball out of the depression he fell into (would barely eat or drink. Wouldn’t groom himself) when his “baby” Phred was put to sleep.
Worked like a charm, Snow hissed at Scrappy, walked over to his “min-me” Max, pinned him to the floor and proceeded to clean him from nose to tip of tail. The two were inseparable from then on, until Snow died. Max had a hard time the last 5 years. He was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, IBD and seasonal asthma. He also had a kinked spine which caused him a lot of pain in his later years. Lots of pills, shots and syringes full of medicine kept him with us for years we wouldn’t have had otherwise. He never fought getting medicine, but let you know he didn’t like it at all. Finally hit the point where doing anything else would have been for us, not him. He let me know he was ready and we put him to sleep on the 24th of February. He would have been 13 on April 10th.
Tom is the owner of 4 amazing cats, and using the Daily Kitten he provides a place for cat and kitten lovers to share the love for their own cats and kittens.
Thanks for sharing Maxi with us. You gave him a good life. Hugs to you for your loss.
Hey I pounced!!
Nice pounce Jason!
We heard a bit about Scrappy’s brother Maximillian yesterday – hoped we would see a picture of him. What a wonderful life he had! He sure was a handsome fellow, and this is such a great picture of him with his dad. Such a treasure! Thank you for sharing this picture and Max’s story.
Where are my manners? I must add that I am very sorry for your loss.
My condolences on your losing Max, now a furry white Meadow angel. What a stunning kit he was and what a wonderful life you gave him. Take good care.
I’m sorry for your loss-Snowball and Maxi had the bestest fur family. Thanks for opening your heart and home to new fur babies.
Thank you for providing a wonderful life for Max. Time shared & life you offered was worth more than millions. He is now enjoying the Meadow with our
furry family members. Max you are our heavenly Star-kit today at TDK!
I’m sorry for your loss, but glad that you knew when it was time to stop “heroic” efforts for Max. It’s a very difficult thing to do, but your love for your fur baby outweighed your loss. It was great hearing about your little fur family. Bless you for your tender care.
Maxi was beautiful. I understand the loss of a beloved pet. It sounds like you have some great memories of him. ^ ^
Such handsome boys. I’m sorry for your loss. Sweet Max had such love with you.
I want to cry…. I am so sorry about losing Snowball and Max. You love your fur kids well. Hope that Scrappy gets a new friend soon if he doesn’t already have one. Such pretty kitties.
Sorry it took so long to reply, our 19 year old furbaby went into full on kidney failure soon after Max died and losing her on top of losing him, I just couldn’t face looking at his pictures for awhile.
We have a friend and his four cats living with us, so Scrappy isn’t lonely :). Thanks for thinking of him.
Maximillian was a handsome guy and did look like his “dad” a lot. It sounds like Snowball definitely benefitted from having Scrappy and Maxi around as did you. I am sorry that Maxi is gone, but you definitely gave him a great life.
ohh so sad… such a beautiful gem. mwaahh 2 both
