This is our baby Machias. He’s a Maine Coon, so we picked a town in Maine we loved as his name. We adopted Machias from a rescue shelter. He came to us at seven weeks, a very small fuzzy kitten. At first he wouldn’t eat and we worried he had a failure to thrive. The vet misdiagnosed him with Feline leukemia, and we were heartbroken. But, a day later Machias started eating and he grew into fine adult cathood. He’s the most sweet, self assured cat I’ve ever known. Today he’s a big, fuzzy cat with a bottle brush tail who loves to cuddle up. When I’m working he rubs my legs and then bounds up on my neck and snuzzles in for his cuddles. Machias lives with our and an older brother cat (Oscar) who he delights to pounce upon. He has a new puppy brother as well, who Machias also loves to pounce on. Machias and the puppy love to play together, racing from one end of the house to the other. When Machias rubs against the dog’s nose with love the dog starts sneezing from the fine Coon hair. Machias can be found most days on the window sill watching the birds at the feeder – we call it ‘Cat TV’.
