In July I fostered five week old kittens for five days until I found an agreeable mother cat to take them. Three survived and after about seven weeks they were returned to me and I kept them for a week before taking them to the local Shelter, which was where I had initially gotten them.
I took the two larger ones to the shelter but kept the runt because she was so painfully shy that she ran whenever I came into the room and was not friendly when she did some out. I figured she would not have much chance to be adopted at the Shelter, since no one would get to see her.
I did not expect much from her, but once her siblings were gone she totally blossomed. She is now feisty and sweet, with a great purr, and gets along great with her two older brothers, who think she is great (her older sisters are less enchanted!)
She is still very shy around strangers, but is even getting over that gradually. I am so glad, in so many ways, that I kept her. She is a joy!

Yay Pixie you got the whole site to yourself to show off your style & purrfect Tortie ‘tude as Star-kit today at TDK!
Yes, with those big, pointy ears she does look rather pixie-ish, doesn’t she? She reminds me of my kitty Violet, who we call Missie…face, eyes, ears all the same and she didn’t get adopted from the vet I was working at since she hated being picked up…vertigo. So I took her home after weeks of looking at her sad face there. She is still kicking, 15 years later and is very loving and sweet. I hope you and Pixie enjoy as many happy years together!
Such a sweet face! Pixie is truly beautiful and meant to be yours forever!
Thank you for giving Pixie not one, but two chances for a good life. Some kitties don’t adjust to different people and need a special hoomin. You are Miss Pixie’s special hoomin. Many happy years together.

pretty little thing! she just needed her own space to come out and really shine. She’s so gorgeous, thank you for taking such good care of her. Please scritch that wee tortie nosie from me 🙂
Pixie is a pretty Tortie girl.. 🙂
Aw….such a sweet face…
Such a pretty kitty! Glad she found a home where she could thrive!
I think little Pixie was forced to open up because she was lonely after all her family were taken away. I was taking care of a stray mother and 4 kittens here, trying to tame them, and when the tamest ones moved into their new homes, the least tame one suddenly became friendly. Having no family to rub against, he finally started to rub on me. (He’s in a new family now, too).
Best wishes for you and little Pixie! I hope her sisters learn to love her too.

Yaaaaa for Pixie, bless you for keeping her.
She’s a beauty.
Awww Gorgeous kitty and Beautiful markings . . .
Pixie is adorable. I’m so happy she came into her own after her siblings disappeared. She’ll get friendlier and lots more social as time passes. My kitten, Smudge, sleeps on my neck, which I’m sure is his replacement for the “kitten pile” he misses.
Pixie looks like she could engage her sibs in dancing, wrestling, & mischief like her namesake. All the best to Pixie, her sibd, and you. Thanks for being a great pet parent.
Good move on your part! I always feel so drawn to the shy ones, and often they just need one-on-one time ( which is next to impossible to provide in multi-cat households) Thank you for caring for her and her sibs!
Pixie is a pretty girl. Thank you for loving her. ^ ^
Thank you so much for fostering and allowing yourself to be adopted by Pixie!
My furkids & I wish you & your furkids many happy, healthy years!
Pixie was meant to be yours alone.
