I had never owned a kitty, until one day I found my little Sox sitting on my doorstep. She was so tiny, only about five or six weeks old. I think SHE picked ME. She’s named Sox because of my favorite baseball team, the Chicago White Sox, and because she has white feet. Incidentally, after I found her, the White Sox went on to win the World Series that year (2005).

What a beautiful little face. And she’s a “kraziKat” too! Mine and my mom’s cats always chose us too. Being selected by the cat always worked out perfectly, the kitties know what they’re doing. Sox is a wild and pretty kitty!

I’m firmly convinced there’s a feline hot line out there, passed along from cat to cat, that says, “Psst! There’s a vacancy at _____.” Both Sam, our tuxie, and Coco, our chocolate tortie, came to us from the streets. Sam arrived after the Northridge earthquake in ’94 and Coco the following year, just two weeks after we started discussing the need for a companion cat for Sam. Some of my friends also acquired their cats in this way, too.

The picture of Sox is the cutest kitten photo ever. She is the essence of rambunctious kittenhood. Oooh, I want a kitten! Preferably Sox.
One of my friends was chosen by her cat, who was about two years old at the time. Spaz was a fabulous cat, and she lived to be 19. The other commenters are right–when the cat chooses you, it tends to work out well.
I love that she found YOU. That always happens in our family. We recently lost our very beloved 4 y/o cat Tasha, and were just devastated. Then by coincidence (went to buy aquatic plants) we saw Edmund at Petsmart (actually Catz Jazz rescue) and he just looked so sad and lonely. I thought about him all weekend, and we went to visit him on Monday to see if he was still available. After filling out the application, etc. we had a new family member. Now that he’s home, he has come out of his shell, and is the most loving cat! He is helping ease the loss, and he really needed us! It’s a great feeling to give a needy cat a good, solid home. 🙂
