Pounce! Pounce! Pounce! Wow—stressing
out right now, and needed to view the kitties on
TDK to chill out and put things in perspective.
Whew—now I must work and envision cute kitties
when I feel like quitting!!!
I hear ya, FondaHonda.
It also helps that these babies have a happy ending to their story.
FondaHonda, here is some chocolate and a frozen mocha latte with extra whipped cream. Hugs too. I hope the day gets better. Hang on the weekend is coming!
With their fur all blended together they look like a two headed kitten! So tiny and sweet.
FH, HM and Great Dane (GD just doesn’t seem right) I have bacon, lattes, chocolate croissants, fresh squeezed juice, eggs cooked to order and mimosas.
Ha Ha – my first thought was that we had a 2-headed kitty, too! What sweet little babies!
* Accepts some scrambled eggs, a chocolate croissant and a mimosa, and wanders over to the sharing circle to cuddle with the little cuties. *
Just two little love bugs!!! Would love to see them now!
I’m so used to fixing breakfast, it’s been a while since I actually sat down to have breakfast. Oh, yeah, may I have my organic free-range eggs scrambled with Havarti and dill and a couple of slices of bacon before Huddy’s Mama injects the bacon directly into her bloodstream? 😆
Hmmmm, I’ll have some lovely bacon, 3 eggs over medium and a couple of mimosas (if you get 2 you don’t have to keep getting up and sitting down – lol)
Thanks, ppearson!
I will have what HM is having with crispy bacon and a nice iced mocha. Yum. We are having temps in the 80’s in my area. I am missing the fog already. Inland is 100. Poor Susie and her kits!!
It was 104 degrees a couple of weeks ago and I went to Starbucks for the ever-favorite Raspberry Mocha (Vente, of course!). It was so dag-gum hot I thought I’d try one of their new Raspberry Mocha Frappacinos. I am proud to say that I now have a new addiction! 😆
–Karin–
You mentioned 100 degrees in above post?
Try 106 in the shade yesterday. Uggghhhh!
I couldn’t check the mail until like 10 o’clock last night because it was too warm to go outside.
It’s ironic…we’re about 100 feet from the river & can’t cool off in it. I wouldn’t eat the fish out of it let alone swim in it. Between the flood of ’97 washing things down & the pigs that think the river is their own personal dumping ground,The water running down it is questionable. Wish I had your cooler breeze right now. 🙁
But you see, if you keep getting up and sitting down, you can call it exercise, and that makes mimosas health food!
Here I am, ppearson – ready for LOADS of lattes (a chocolate croissant sounds great, too!). Work is insane! I had to stay at work til seven thirty last night to finish something. I got home and after a while the power in the whole neighborhood went out. (Don’t know why, the weather was fine). I went to bed and was woken up when the power, light, TV and several fans came back on! Then boss called and woke me up at 6:27 AM! Arrrgh! He was going to be out of the office and out od cellphone reach, so he wanted to discuss something very important before he lost the connection!
I’m TIRED! And I’m dog-sitting again and biking all over town!
Please, ppearson, I know I’m late, but I’m hoping ther’s still coffee left for me! (and by the way, I wasn’t too busy to get in my 5 votes for the Gimpster! – and Bob!)
Sorry for the rough start to your day, Great Dane. Hope the rest of your day went better. I know ppearson got your coffee for you. How’s the Baileys holding up?? Let me know when I need to rough up the CEO again!! Have a good day. Hugs and purrs, Lynn
I feel the same way, FondaHonda. I haven’t been able to post too often these days; kinda feel out of the loop, but I’ve been just too busy at work. It is nice, however, to take a few minutes here and there to look at the kitten(s) of the day and read some posts.
Sorry you are having a bad time FondaHonda. I understand how you feel. Take a big swig of your coffee, swallow and now a big deep breath..hold it…hold it…okay you can let it out now. Hmmm..does that help a little. Hugs and purrs to you.
If I could spit the coffee ON a few certain people I’d feel a lot better, though! 😆
My sister got so tired of ‘feeling like quitting’ she actually quit her job 2 weeks ago. I can’t say I blame her though.
Hope things get better Fonda Honda.
Thanks HM–everything is just so disorganized this year (not because of my own doing) that I can’t do anything because I’m waiting on others to get their acts together. So frustrating!
A sad beginning to most likely a sad ending also, but luckily someone with a good heart & soul found these little babies. How very cute & sweet they look!!
What the hell is wrong with people who would “throw away’ living things? In the Press Enterprise, the Bloomsburg PA paper one of the front page stories the other day was about a guy in his 20’s who chewed the ears off a kitten he had. He also filed the kittens fangs down himself. When the animal control officer saw the cat, (his live in gf’s mother reported him) the kitten could not stand and had a massive infection. It also had a huge open gash between it’s eyes. This jackass said he didn’t know you had to take an animal to the vets to have the teeth filed down?????????? How stupid is THAT? He also said he was playing and that’s how the cats ears got chewed. At this point I am now wondering about the human race in general. Is this what’s reproducing now? God help us. The gf defended this headcase. She said he was innocent of all the stuff and didn’t know how the kitten got the gash & infection. The gf’s mother also said he killed 2 other cats. Hopefully these two won’t ever reproduce and have a baby. God only knows what kind of moron will be produced from such a union. The animal control officer said she pressed charges and the hearing is Sept 10. She is hoping that they never are allowed to own ANY animal again. I am keeping an eye on this story and intend to voice MY opinion on this, in the papers opinion colum via email @ sachetti@pressenterprise.net
OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!! Need to make sure these two people are sterilized. The guy is one sick puppy. I hope they were able to help the kitten or euthanize it if it they were not able to help it.
Sniff :'(
I’m so sorry to hear of that kitten’s plight. I hope he’s no longer suffering. As for the man and his girlfriend, I hope they get the help they need. I also hope he’s no longer allowed to have pets of any kind; he’s clearly a danger to them.
I am sorry to say that I live in the same state as this idiot. I hope he is severely punished for this abuse to an innocent kitten and that the little one is feeling better these day. And sterilizing both him and the girlfriend would not hurt my feelings either. Hugs and purrs, Lynn
He needs to be put away permanently, before he starts in on humans–a serial killer in the making.
boing
Awwwwwwww. Mine!!
I’ll share though.
Oh, wow – waay to cute!
Pounce? If it’s me, I declare a sharing circle, especially as there are two!
Glad to hear these sweet little kitties found a good home!
Sweet! But how can people leave kitties in rubbish like that? I wish I could get my hands on them!
every life is valuable, not just the two-footeds…
I don’t understand it myself.
A wonderful lady I worked for back in Chicago some 15 years ago, went to New York City on vacation with her husband. They were waiting in the subway when they heard a noise. They went to a nearby garbage can, and dug through it to find the source of the noise. It was a kitten, that someone had *duct-taped* to the inside of a closed cardboard box so it couldn’t get out. Needless to say, she and her husband brought the kitten home with them.
That is Horrible! But wonderful that they brought the kitten home.
i just do not understand some people’s disregard for life.
OMG Anncetera! That brings tears to my eyes and just makes me want to scream. OMG! That is so sad but I am really glad your coworker rescued it.
Absolutely horrible. That brought tears to my eyes. How can anyone treat a defenseless animal like that. I pray that the person who did that eventually gets theirs in spades !!
I can’t comprehend it either! How on earth can anyone so callously wrap up such sweet little babies and just throw them away?! As mnfeline says below, I hope that whoever did it gets some of the same in return!
Thank goodness for the kind-hearted building super who rescued them and for the folks who have given them their furrever home!
I found my Sebastian in a dumpster. He was a pitiful little thing. I was so sad that somebody would do that. Suppose I hadn’t come along when I did?
I’m becoming more and more convinced that some people lack empathy altogether. More people to learn empathy as children!!! (Heck, as adults, too; more empathy is a good thing, regardless of life stage.)
That should read “More people need to learn empathy as children!!!” Sorry for leaving out entire words… I’m insufficiently caffeinated this morning.
A family friend took me aside when I was about 8 and told me that the most important thing that one person could have for another was empathy. It has affected the entire course of my life….. all for the better, of course. I never had problems having empathy with critters though… Mom used to rescue wild things…..And Dad had a horse that would do all kinds of things, but no one else could ride…
Your family friend gave you a tremendous gift!
Awwww, hugs to Sebastian!
This story is a bit long, but it is all true.
A friend of mine, Abe, was a large and very good-hearted drummer in a rock band back in the ’70s, and his room mate was a true goofball known as Doodles. One day, Abe found a very sick and flea-infested orange kitten with white paws crying outside their apartment. Doodles refused to take it in because of the fleas, so Abe, who loved all animals, got some food and water, and then he fixed up a crate with a bed in it for the kitten.
The next day, Abe came home from rehearsal early to find Doodles with a full beer bottle in his hand, circling the crate, and the terrified kitten was staring up at him. Abe asked Doodles what he thought he was doing. Doodles assured Abe that he was going to put the flea-infested kitten out of his misery with the beer bottle.
Abe assured Doodles that he would put Doodles out of HIS misery if he so much as breathed on the kitten.
A jogger who was passing by slowed up and asked the two men if there was any way he could help.
Abe explained the situation to the jogger, who by this time had crouched down and was scratching the frightened kitten behind his ears. The jogger then asked if he could take the kitten off their hands, explaining that he was living temporarily in the apartment just down the way, loved cats, and did not have a cat right now.
Able and Doodles agreed and said farewell to jogger and his new pet.
Six weeks later, on a bright Monday morning Abe was talking with the manager of the apartment complex. The two men watched as a large chauffer-driven limo pull up to the curb. The erstwhile jogger walked out of his apartment. In a beautiful black silk suit. With a doctor’s bag in one hand. And a beautiful young orange cat with white paws was draped over his free arm, sporting a black collar and disk.
Abe recognized the little cat and the jogger, and he asked the manager, “What’s that guy’s name?”
The manager said, “Oh, that’s Dr. Jones, that new cosmetic surgeon? Just opened that big ole clinic on the north side. Huge practice. He has that great big house they were photographing for the Sunday Living section of the paper. It was even in that architecture magazine. Here’s the picture that was in the paper yesterday.”
The manager unfolded the paper he had been carrying under his arm, displaying the photo of the doctor in his marble tiled foyer. With a cat seated next to him. And the doctor in various other rooms of the mansion. With the cat following him from room to room.
“He just dotes on that cat,” smiled the manager. “That collar he’s got on? It’s some sort of alligator skin, and do you see that little ID disk? Got his name and the doc’s name and even has a diamond in it. Yep, that’s one happy cat.”
I asked Abe what happened then. Abe said the cat jumped in the limo and curled up in the back windshield as though he had been doing that forever.
“I couldn’t believe it. I rescued that little animal. And was he grateful? That cat didn’t talk to me, that cat wouldn’t even look at me. And I followed that limo for three blocks screaming, ‘MEOW’!”
LOVE THE STORY!
Great story! I’m glad I took a few minutes from the work insanity to read it. Thanks for sharing!
Wish I had thought to describe Abe and Doodles. Abe was 6’4″ and weighed about 350, and Doodles was 5’7″ and must have weighed about half that. Abe was very gentle and could have turned Doodles into a piece of origami if he had wished to do so, but instead chose to try to reason with the slightly drunk young man.
Reminds me of Lennie in Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men”
Good one! Roxy and Dublin are cute as can be! Hugs and purrs.
Me too Sheenagh! I would like to take those humans who think they can dump two precious kitties and put them through what be their worst nightmare!
okay….going to go snuggle the kitties in the sharing circle. They are so tiny.
I saw a diaper box on the side of the road on the way to work one day and I stopped to see if there were kittens in it. There weren’t any, thank God! It was empty.
cute, cute, and more cute. i dn’t have time to go thud today, moving in 2 days, i have day off from work tomorrow, i’m moving the kitties tonight, boss is being a nasty pr**k about work deadlines…calgon take me away, actually when the move is over, i will be doing nothig for 2 days except rest ad eating…
Cheri, sorry about the boss being a jerk. It seems no one in corporate America wants to cut anyone any slack anymore when it comes to having a personal life. That is part of why I work in non-profit for much less money than I would get at a for-profit business. I have traded the higher salary for working with caring people, serving my community and being able to work whatever schedule I want. We are all about flex time, comp time and family around here.
oh and next week, I can’t wait to hear about the move and how your kitties handle the new home. Good luck and don’t wear yourself out too much
Cheri, I’m helping my man-friend move now too. I will also be off tomorrow for the move, then get to work two more days and finally get to rest on Monday! Yes, it’s a pain in the a## but just think of the benefits when you are finished. Don’t sweat the Boss as there will always be a new deadline!
Good luck with your move, Cheri. Hope the kitties settle in well and you get to rest. Though I know it takes time to get everything put away, don’t worry about it all at once–take your time and all will come out ok. Very best wishes in your new home!
Cheri – good luck with your move! At least you have a long weekend – hurray! Forget about your boss, and celebrate with a little bubbly once you are in your new place! Can’t wait to hear how the kitties settle in!
There a lot of bosses out there who are complete jerks as the CEO’s at the top are so greedy that they have to squeeze as much work out of the worker that they have no energy for a life outside of work. I experienced that at several of my jobs. I trust that the next position I find, I will have the option to work a flexible schedule – something like a 10 hour day four days a week and have every Friday off. Now wouldn’t that be good.
HUGS to you Cheri.
Good luck with the move, Cheri. I hope the kittys adjust well and the boss fixes his attitude! Tell us how you made out next week. Looking forward to your return then. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
SUH-WEET babies! Kisses kisses kisses
How cute are they 😉 Hope everyones having a good day. Those of you stressed at work no worries one more day till FRIDAY 😉 nice long weekend

Hugs back to ya, Bumblebee! How are you these days? Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
What a great story! So glad these 2 found a good home. Bless that super for noticing
And bless you for taking them into your home once they were discovered, and giving them a loving life.
OOOOO! Kittle kittens! I want…I want…they are so purrrrfect! (‘scuse me-in a flibertygibette mood today!) Have not slept much and it’s made me fuzzy-weird! Still, with some good strong amaretto coffee and chocolate biscotti, I’ll be fine soon–glad to share–want some?
A wonderful pair of fluff balls..and my best wishes go to all who rescue the babies left as trash and may those who left them there get a little of the same.
I’ll drink to that!
AWWWWWW!!!!! GREAT story! And they are so cute.
oh .. how… cute!!!!!! precious cute little balls of purr!!!!
*overcome by cute overload, her speech dissolves to gibberish as she melts into a puddle of goo and oozes out the door to go to her geography class*
Awwww! They are so sweet. Glad they have a nice home and have grown to be big kittens. Bravo to you for taking them in!
Kittenmaster, if it’s ok with you… can you repeat the string that is about the Paypal account from yesterday? I really would like to get this started. Thanks so much and purrs from TigerButt!! Terri

Has anyone looked further into starting a Paypal account that we can send money to for our “TDK Fund

Terri — Tiger’s mom — was going to set that up for us. She’s had a lot on her plate. I’m sure she’ll get around to it.

I’d be glad to help. Don’t you think it would be a good idea to have more than one person handling this? For instance, we set up the account, donations will be sent in (hopefully!), and we have our TDK fund. So perhaps we should have a treasurer and/or committee to decide who gets money and how much. Maybe put it out for discussion before we actually send money, just to make sure that everyone or at least most people are agreeable. And that way, more than one person will be resonsible for handling and disbursing money. Not that I think any one of us would be untrustworthy, but perhaps someone is ill, or on vacation or in some other way unable to hand the account in time of need.
Just some thoughts……………………

I am an accountant and have already been asked to set up a Paypal account for the TDK family. I have done so, but need to have at least 3 others to help regulate the account. Please, if there is anyone that is willing to take on this responsibility, I would be ever so grateful for the guidance. Love to all, Terri
Terri,
I’m not an accountant, but I’ve owned my own businesses in past years, so I think I’d be qualified to help out, so I’d like to volunteer. Here’s my e-mail if you’d like to correspond with me: jimmievandegrift at yahoo dot com. Thank you for taking the reins-there are so many people and animals to help.
And Dee, the pics are absolutely wonderful of Chester’s Place. It gives us all a chance to see. I for one would love to take a trip there, and as Dorie said, maybe some of us could actually meet there!
Thanks so much M & M’s mom!! I am so glad that there are people that are will and can help. We all need help sometimes!!! Love Terri
Terri,
I’ve got 12345 fingers on one hand and 12345 on the other same with both feet so I can count up to 20 on mine and 12 with chucky and then I have a calculator thingamabob so I might be able to help E-mail me at dorieduck at Yahoo dot com
Peace
Dorie ( PS put TDK in the subject line or I might delete it Thanks I get too much spam)
What a two headed cute ball of fur!!!! Pounce!!
How’s little Tiger? Is he ready for his “vacation”?
Perfect pair for this morning! So very glad they were saved, it would have been a tragic if anything happened to these innocent little babies.
On another note, I was checking the posts from last night, Dee Congrats, congrats for all the work you did for Chesters Place. When I saw the photos of Jerry’s plaque and the kittens he now sits with I got all misty. Could you post the link again. I’m sure all would love to see it.
debsterwiz–just noticed your post…
The link of the pics is below–it made a lot of us cry!
Yes, it’s beautiful!
Dee, great work with Chester’s Place!
Thanks! Did you notice the kitten standing directly behind the first pic of the plaque? I’ll bet lots of little kitten heads will rub up against that plaque–very sweet.
Big lumbering beasts? Must be talking about Bo!
Kid from Chicago flew in yesterday to work a convention and spent the night with us. Bo thinks she’s here just for him. He was so weird! He lay on the floor in front of her, front paws wrapped around her ankles with his head pressed in between her feet. Weirdo cat…And all because of TDK and Catster!
Awww…Bo is such a love bug. He sounds so cute. Hey where is Great Dane…busy at work already? Do you need some coffee? I am drinking a nice cup of Columbian coffee with some half and half and sugar. I have to “froo froo it up” with my coffee. Interviews at Adobe today for a seven month temp job as an Executive Assistant. I am very excited at the opportunity. No word from Nintendo and it is driving me mad! I told my husband last night that they said they would be in touch by the end of the week. Well, I have this idea that they will wait till 4:45pm on Friday to tell me. It better be an offer if they call me that late on the Friday before a big holiday! Three day weekend as a temp means a smaller paycheck the following week. Oh well. No worries as at least it is a paycheck. Happy Thursday to all that are stressing today. Big hugs to you and know that you just need to get through today and tomorrow. Hugs and prayers to all that are in need of late and happy birthday to all that I have missed in the last couple of days. Hope it was extra special. Yesterday was my sister’s 47th birthday. I sent her an e-card that played the happy birthday song rock music style.
Karin – you sound so good today! Very positive.. I like hearing that. Has hubby found a job? Wasn’t he out of work? And thank you for the comment the other day about the HOA. All things there are on hold. A long story with no ending at the moment.
Good luck with all interviews and prayers that you get the job want !
Well, I am trying to be positive today that out of all these interviews, something good has to happen. Hubby is working a car service job (chauffeur) for now till he finds the mortgage broker type job. He is very frustrated but as long as he is busy at the chauffeuring job and money is still coming in, he is okay for now. Thank you for asking. Thank you also for the positive thoughts on the job front. I am really hoping something good happens by tomorrow. Adobe or Nintendo works for me at this point. Going to my interview in 5 minutes for Adobe seven month temp job.
Try to stay cool. I understand Phoenix broke their record of 28 days of 110+ temperatures. At least it is most a dry heat but still…wow!! Keep hydrated and cool.
Purrs and hugs, Karin. Good luck to you.
Karin, wishing you the best on the job hunt. I’m praying real hard for you. You’ve had such a tough time lately. Hang in there, girl! Hugs and purrs, Lynn
Yeah, it’s a dry heat–so’s a freakin’ OVEN!!!
Hi Karin, here I am! Work’s totally insane! I had to work until seven thirty yesterday to get everything done! My boss, who’s out fishing (!) today called me this morning at precisely 6:27AM (which is before I, and even Bob, get up) with some important information I needed once I got in – at 9:00! The guy at headquarters I had to deal with was a real jerk and I have stuff all over my desk that requires my attention! Arrrgh! I’m also dogsitting, so I’m going crazy! It’s a good thing I have the Bobster to calm me down!
Great Dane, were you able to try a Cat Dancer with Bob?
Did not have the time. Yesterday I noticed that the Bobster’s collar is getting too tight, so I’ll have to stop at PetsMart today for a new one (He going to get a big boy collar this time – still pink, of course!). I’m off now – 30 min. bikeride to dogsitting house, then stop at PetsMart for collar and cat dancer, then 30 min. bikeride home to hang out with the Bobster, then later on another 30 min. bikeride back to dogsitting house! Yawn!
Lynn, I may need more Baileys VERY soon!
Boy, Great Dane, you must be in great shape with all the bikeriding you do!
Bailey’s always will be in your stock, girfriend! You can count on me! Hugs and purrs, Lynn
Hey you on now, see by the time we are not too far apart. Hope you are well. Lynn PS gonna check the rest of the posts. Maybe catch you later. L
Hugs and a big coffee with baileys for Great Dane. I am sorry the boss woke you up. They don’t think about other people and their time zones when they need something from the person who supports them. Hope your day got better.
Another pink collar for Bob? Why not a blue one this time? Poor guy.
Hugs and purrs.
I wonder if Bo misses his former owner?? That is really cute what he did though. Awww…….

More info on yesterday’s thread…
How heartwarming.
I checked this out..but being somewhat new here, what is the story behind it? Thanks..you ALL seem like such great cat people….the world would be a lot better if there was as much love and caring going on as in this site.
Chester’s place is a TDK dedication for a once regular poster who pasted way before his time. His name was Jerry and he was dear to us all. He was warm, funny, witty, and caring. A friend to all. Some members of the site came up with the idea of a memorial tribute and knowing Jerry’s affection for the kittens we set up the memorial in a no-kill shelter close to his home. All who could send donations did and now many kitties in need will have it a little better while waiting for their furrever homes. Jerry would have been proud.
Very well put, Deb.
Mnfeline, Dee could tell you best. But Jerry, known as Chester, passed away recently. In memory contributions are being made to a local pet rescue organization.
Thanks..(I originally thought Chester was a kitten/cat)..but am very please to see a momorial for one who cared so for our friends and now can continue even after he has passed. You are all such a giving group. As work places go..mine is large corporate ..I’m working now, but is VERY cat friendly. A few months ago a co-worker of mine was in need of two special kittens to fill her home after her last kitties had gone to cat heaven. (She wanted a boy tabby and a siamese mix) When there were some that fit the bill on the local humane society website…my boss let me go and reserve them because she was in a meeting. When she got out..she was promptly let go to get her new housemates and only returned to let us see them before she left for the day early!
Actually Chester was a cat. Jerry’s cat that had passed some time before.
Mnfeline,
That is such a sweet story… Thanks for sharing.
HUGS to you!
OK..the Duh factor again…but Bumblebee, what is the 4/17 after your name refer to?
Anf thanks for the HUGS…and a big purr for you too.
Hi mnfeline and welcome to the site. The date behind some of our names is our birthdays! This way people can keep track and wish us the best on our special day! Some of the people here even share birthdays. Feel free to add yours so we can wish you a Happy Purrday on your special day. Just leave off the year, for identity theft purposes. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
MNfeline–we all decided to put the month and day of our birth after our names so people would know when our birthday is. You see, that way, we can have all these virtual parties and cakes and food and drinks and….well, you know—-fun!
Some of us put our location and birthday… so shout-outs can be given on ‘our’ day. So the 4/17 you refer to is Bumblebee’s birthday – April 17
Thanks for the heads up…this is more fun..well almost than a room full of kittens crazy on catnip..
I love the thought AND the visual!!!!
That’s awesome!! Hooray!
That’s wonderful!
WoW, wonderful pair of precious kittens. love the way they curl around each other to sleep.
sorry for all the stress in the corporate world right now. seems like our whole world is constantly in a state of stress, and no end in sight in the immediate future.
take care TDKer’s and stay safe. lots of prayers for each of you. 🙂
JCL
Thank you, Sunshine’s Ami, for your prayers!

Oooh, they are so precious… I love it when sibling kitties get to stay together!
What sweet babies and a happily ever after stroy! I am so glad these two got a loving home together. They are so cute, it makes me want to pick them up and sing them a little song… ^..^
You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.

It’s gone back to the way it was until January this year – it always used to be pink.

Cleopatra, the Queen of the Nile and the last pharaoh of Egypt, died in Alexandria on this day in 30 B.C. According to legend, she committed suicide by snakebite, after being conquered in battle by the Roman army. Her brave attempts to defend a dying empire has survived the centuries as a compelling story, yet her most meaningful contribution to civilization is often forgotten. The Alexandria Library was located at the crossroads of three continents, and is said to have contained more than 700,000 manuscripts—the greatest concentration of knowledge in the ancient world.
Bar-babes! How cute they are!!!
Bless you for saving them.
What sweet little kittens! I love stories with happy endings. You hear so much about bad supers, it is nice to hear about a good one for a change.
Nora has been put on a S/D diet to help with her UTI, and she is NOT happy. I have been so used to leaving food out all of the time (my old kitties, who are now passed on, always needed to have food available) so I am having to retrain myself as well as the girls to have strict feeding times. I was howling with laughter at the vet’s office when they were explaining how to “train” them: “The first morning, you put out the food, wait 10 minutes. If they don’t eat, pick it up, say “I gues you aren’t hungry” and put it away. At night, you put it out again for 10 minutes. If they don’t eat, pick it up, say “Boy, it sucks to be you, no dinner tonight” and put it away… ”
Right now I am mixing the new stuff with her old food. She will pick up a mouthful, drop it on the floor, and then pick out her old food. Stinker.
When Sheba first got that food, I got the dry and left it out all day for her. After the UTI was cured she was switched to c/d which all the cats eat.
That was my first thought, too, but part of Nora’s problem is that she, umm, needs to go on a diet. Nibs could also stand to lose a little. (Me too!) Since they are indoor only cats, and I work all day, they don’t get as much exercise as they should.
I have that problem with Sylvester too. He is about four pounds overweight. Vet says he should be 11 lbs but he actually weighs around 14.4 lbs. I leave the dry food out all day and only feed him a small portion of wet food in the morning and in the evening. I am up at 5:30am to feed Sylvester, take my shower and get to work by 7:30am.
Right now the first priority is the UTI–you can worry about her weight later. It should clear up fully in about 10 days or so.
Nora apparently has another talent that I did not know about – the ability to detect “pill time”. She will be nicely curled up on her ottoman, and I quietly get her pill – and suddenly she is under a piece of furniture where I can’t get to her. She is fairly good about swallowing the thing, as long as I get it way on the back of her toungue. I love that look that they get when you are making them swallow – “Help! You’re trying to kill me!”
Don’t we all have that problem???
Well, this reply was supposed to be under N&N’s Mom’s comment about getting enough exercise….
Getting back to BACON…I got a big package at Sam’s recently, maple-smoked. WOW, does it ever have a lot of maple flavor and a wonderful maple aroma. My whole house smelled like maple bacon last Sunday!
What brand? It sounds really good. Ok. added to the breakfast bar is maple smoked bacon, pancakes with maple syrup and lots of melted real butter to go with them
are you HMs sister bacon seems to be a comman theme here
Only in spirit. I just love bacon and consider it a seperate food group. There are very few meals that aren’t improved by a side of bacon!
Amen, sister!
I’m going to Sam’s next week. Wanna guess what’s going to be at the top of the grocery list? 🙂
Bacon??
Thank you for saving them. They could not have been luckier. I wish you many happy years together.
I don’t know if you’ve all seen this: it just came up in YouTube for me. Read the main comment for the cat’s story (and turn up the sound: he’s purring!).

These people’s love for their cats is a good antidote to all those stories about people who dump theirs.
I just want to hug him! That is wonderful that someone could give him a good home and love and work with him! He’s so cute!
Awww!
Awwwwwwwwwwww

It’s beautiful and it made me cry – I had no idea about this condition.
Awwww. Charley is a sweetie! And he even figured out how to walk in a straight line, after a fashion. I love how his butt swings along with his tail, how cute!
I’m crying here at work!
Terri, I watched that video. Except the way Charley walks I watched the clumsy antics thinking, “how is that different?” 🙂
Another one that I want to hug! I’ve always had a weakness for “imperfect” cats. Growing up there was a 3 legged one eyed cat in our neighborhood and I always used to stop and pet it. He was a couple streets over and I never saw or spoke to his owners, but I always loved him (or her).
i love Charley’s bandy legged walk! Like a cowboy in an old western that just got off a horse!
Awww–God Bless the people who take in these cats–they show so much love. Reminds me of our beloved Ozzy (who’s story I told awhile back). Challenged animals always turn out to be the most loving, as if they are thanking us for allowing them to live a normal life.
He’s awesome. What a truly cool cat.
What an atti….excuse me, Cattitude! 🙂
Have you checked out the pets available at BCFFA? It’s great to see how many pets we are all assisting. I’m afraid to go there because I may come back with this character-filled dog and my cats would be very upset.

awwww…what a cutie! Yeah, I could see having to come home with something that adorable. Follows his nose, huh?
He makes me smile–and he has the cutest pigeon-toed stance!
Huddy’s Mama–This is for you!

It doesn’t hold enough bacon to make it worth while!
I agree ppearson, one piece is only a teaser. Give me the whole pack. Ok, HM, I’ll share with you. (Note to self: get 3 packs, one for HM one for ppearson, and one for me and the kittys) Hugs and purrs, Lynn
MM, love the blogger who explained the bacon “smell” for the people concerned about bacon sitting out overnight: I mean, it’s just one slice. Who eats ONE slice of bacon?
That’s HM alright!
here’s more information on it. This is hilarious!
http://www.mathlete.com/portfolio/wakeNbacon.php
There wasn’t a photo in the other link. And it looks like a pig!
I’m rolling…
One piece of bacon? It takes 20 minutes to cook ONE piece of bacon? My bacon tray holds up to 18 slices of bacon and it cooks them all in about 15 minutes. And it’s THICK bacon – sometimes with the rind left on – lol.
No, the Wake N Bacon is a bad idea.
Double headed fuzz!
–I need advice from anyone who can give it–
I cooked corn-on-the-cob last night & saved a couple of pieces to carve off the cob & throw it in the cats food today. Problem is,it slipped my mind putting it into the frig, last night. Do you think it will still be safe to give them? It was left in the water it was boiled in w/the lid on. You’d think I’d know more about certain types of food at my age, but,I’m not usually so absent-minded. Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks & good morning to all 🙂
I would say as long as the lid was on and it was only over night there shouldnt be anything to worry about, but just my opinion 🙂
I do it all the time, and I have not died yet. If you are concerned, drop it into boiling water for about 5 minutes to warm it up.
My wonderful little ginger kitty “Billy” was also found in New York. He and his siblings still had their umbilical cords attached, they were taped down inside a shoe box, the box was put in a bag and the bag thrown in the garbage. Thank God a kind person found them and rescued them. It is unbelievable that there are people in this world that would treat these little kitties in such a way.
Okay, after three stories about kittens abandoned in NYC, I have to chime in. Yes, in a city of 8 million or more, there are going to be jerks. I found a beautiful white kitten with a skull fracture in the trash at 57th and 6th (midtown) one working day in the early 90s — took it back to my office at Dun & Bradstreet, where I got all sorts of grief for hiding it under my desk until 5 pm. I took it to a vet who agreed to give me a few days to raise the money for treatment, and people gave so generously I couldn’t believe it. I posted a sign in the employee break room and got money from all over the company — and then the NY Post did a story on little “Rocky”, and still more money came in. His subdural hematoma was healed, and he was adopted by a family that adored him. So one person hurt him, and dozens helped him.
There are creeps everywhere, but I love New Yorkers. Just had to represent, even after a dozen years in the midwest and south!
Plus, our beloved Trouble (now 15 years young) came to our front stoop there, so I’m extra defensive.
And speaking of empathy: as much as I respect anti-depressants, one widespread side effect is the loss of empathy — it turns out this is a neurobiological function, not
merely a character development issue. But yes, it should be taught to children. Otherwise, we’ll wind up with a whole society of sociopaths, not just a government full of them.
Gotta go snuffle kitty tummies now. Need to recharge empathy batteries!
Angela, I’m sorry. I was not impugning New Yorkers in my story. I mentioned it only because that’s where my boss found the kitten.
Regarding empathy, I believe as with so many things, it’s probably part biological, part behavioral. But one needs only a modicum of training or education to realize that other creatures suffer, and it’s wrong to make them suffer needlessly.
And I could use a quick belly-snorgle to recharge, too. Luckily, one of my cats will let me do that to her!
Angela-do you have a reference to the loss of empathy side effect of anti-depressants?
Excellent question! The answer is “not offhand, and I wish I had more time to research it today.” The first popular mention of this was probably in Peter Breggin’s 1995 book “Talking Back to Prozac” — which was a slightly alarmist presentation written when only about 10K prescriptions for this new therapy had been issued. But it’s a commonplace observation among doctors and patients today. You hear patients talk about being “emotionally dulled” or “in a bubble” — but these are not quantifiable problems, and certainly not something SKG and other pharma companies tested for when seeking FDA approval. Newer generation anti-depressants, and combination therapies, have better
track records on blunting emotional response. I should have specified SSRIs when I wrote that, because there are now so many other medications available.
Some of the newer drugs are even touted for *improving* empathy levels…although it appears that the best drug for this is very, very illegal: Ecstasy. I’ve never had the pleasure, although I did once have to extricate myself from an unwanted fullbody hug from an “X” fan at a concert, a total stranger, who thought I looked sad and needed a friend. I think he needed maybe a little LESS empathy.
Meanwhile, THANK YOU, MeezerMama, for calling me out on an overbroad, unsupported generalization about medicine. I wish more people were reflexively skeptical!
Honestly, I wasn’t attempting to call you out. I’m am reflexively skeptical, but I was really asking from a curiosity standpoint. Could explain a few things about some long term users that I know. Not passing judgment, I’ve been on anti-depressants myself. Suppose I’ll have to do some research. Thanks!
Angela, we know there are horrible people everywhere~~~
and there are good people everywhere, too. Don’t feel New Yorkers are being singled out, please. “Scuse me, gotta go give Max and Molly a hug.
–Angela–
Trust me when I say that these sickos are in California as well.
A couple yrs. back, a friend & myself trapped a feral cat in my backyard & had to take it to the vet. Seems one of the regularly unsupervised brats in the neighborhood thought it would be funny to jam a metal pole into the little fella’s eye & down & out thru his lower jaw. God had a plan for the little guy because he survived & was adopted out to a woman who traveled from another state to give him a loving home.
What a wonderful happy ending for him. 🙂
Angela Motorman,
Thank you for speaking out for New Yorkers! I am one, born and raisedand raising my kids here. I got my love for animals from my parents as in the late 60’s we became one of the first foster families for dogs, cats and yes even a goat! The only problem we had is we could not give up the first 10 that came to our home and they all lived happy and health lives including the goat, Yes Ny has crazy people, who hurt and mame beautiful animals. but, there are more of us that would go out of our way to help them and our fellow man.
OK I’ll get off my soapbox now!!
Thank you for being who you are CRAZY cat and animal people
peace
Dorie
Roxy and Dublin you’re just so precious! As are all the other bebehs on those videos and websites. Such angels.

CHICAGO, IL — A cat in Chicago is recovering after falling out of an 18-story window. Now, the cat’s owner, who’s a soldier serving in Iraq, is worried about how he will pay for the vet bills. Maxim, a black and white kitty with piercing yellow eyes, took quite a fall from a Chicago high-rise.
Maxim managed to claw open a window screen and the kitty tumbled 18 stories to the ground below.
Daria, who is watching the soldier’s cat, says “it’s really high. The doctor said this is the first time they’ve seen a cat who survived fall at that height.”
Construction workers found the cat and rushed him to a Humane Society. They sent him to the animal emergency center in Northbrook for help.
Veterinary surgeon Dr. Aaron Jackson says “his injuries were potentially severe. Lucky for him he’s a large cat.”
Dr. Jackson says the 18 story fall left Maxim with several broken bones.
Dr. Jackson says “this is his right shoulder fracture and here’s his left shoulder fracture.”
Jackson put metal plates and pins in Maxim’s shoulder and pelvis. The cat will have staples for several weeks and wear a special patch for pain. He’s expected to be back on his paws in no time.
Dr. Jackson says the best thing about Maxim is a microchip, which save his life. It was able to identify him at the Humane Society that took him from construction workers.
Over in Iraq, Sergeant Matthew Barkmeier never expected his pet back home in Chicago would be the one to have battle scars. The soldier wonders how to pay the unexpected $3,000 vet bill.
Is there any information on how to help this soldier out? I’m all for giving our troops a hand when they need it.
I read somewhere that his vet bills had been paid for by donations and that the vet helped financially as well.
And don’t forget to click on the link for the video–it really is a very big kitty!
I loved the fact that the construction workers all rushed to help the cat.
Bless everyone who helped this poor kitty out. I am so happy he lived.
And Dee, thanks for the pics of Chesters place. I sent them to my home email and will email them to Jerry’s mom tonight so she can see for herself the kindness of all of the TDK members who so lovingly remembered her son. Thanks once again, dear friend. Hugs and Purrs Lynn
Bless each one that helped! 🙂
They’re so sweet! What a happy ending to their story. 🙂

I’ve been self employed my entire adult life. My definition of success is simple…… Success is getting up as many times as you’ve fallen down.
CONDUCTOR Sir Neville Marriner was leading the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood, in Massachusetts. During the final chords of the program many concert-goers would leave their seats so they could beat the traffic. When asked if he was irritated, Marriner reacted with English aplomb. No, he said, he preferred to think that he was being rewarded with “a standing evacuation.”

**Dog Named Zeus Saves Owner From House Fire**
OCALA, FL (AP) — With a lick and a whine, an English mastiff named Zeus woke his owner and saved him from a fire ravaging their Ocala house.
Anthony Pillow had left a candle burning on a plate when he fell asleep yesterday. The next thing he knew, Zeus was trying to wake him up. Pillow says the canine only does that when he wants to go outside or something is wrong.
Pillow stood up to a house full of smoke. His attempts to put out the blaze were unsuccessful. Firefighters responded to the scene but there is still extensive smoke damage in the house. Pillow says he’s looking for someplace to stay that will also take in his dog.

**Chewed Up Michael Vick Cards Sell For $7,400**
By BRIAN CHARLTON
Associated Press Writer
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The eBay auction for 22 Michael Vick football cards, chewed up and slobbered on by two Missouri dogs, ended Wednesday as the winning bidder dished out $7,400 – with the money expected to be donated to the Humane Society.
The success of that auction, with 31 different bidders, created a craze of 25 other postings this week offering torn up cards featuring the disgraced NFL superstar.
But so far, the original post from Rochelle Steffen, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., has been the only auction to attract droves of bidders.
Steffen gave Monte, her 6-year-old Weimaraner, and Roxie, her Great Dane puppy, every Vick card she owned to destroy. The result: The cards worth $1-to-$10 were crumpled, crimped, chewed, torn and generally in a sorry state. Some even had corners missing.
“When I started this, I only expected to get $100 for a local shelter,” Steffen told The Associated Press on Wednesday. “But it’s received so much attention. It’s for such a good cause.”
The gnawed cards were the most expensive Vick items on eBay, with well-preserved rookie cards, autographed jerseys and other collectibles selling for far less.
Vick pleaded guilty to a federal dogfighting charge this week. He will be sentenced Dec. 10.

**Fresh Spinach From California Recalled**
Alison Burns
POSTED: 8:52 am PDT August 30, 2007
WASHINGTON — There’s yet another recall of bagged fresh spinach because of a positive test for salmonella.
There are no immediate reports of illness linked to the tainted spinach, distributed by California-based Metz Fresh.
The recall comes nearly a year after an outbreak of another pathogen, E. coli, in fresh spinach killed three people and sickened another 200.
The latest recall affects 48 states and Canada, The product was sold in retail and food service packages. It covers more than 8,000 cases of spinach, although the company said more than 90 percent of that was on hold and would not be released.
Salmonella sickens about 40,000 people a year in the U.S. and kills about 600. It can cause diarrhea, fever, dehydration, abdominal pain and vomiting.
Consumers with questions can contact Metz Fresh at 831-386-1018.
The recall covers 10- and 16-ounce bags, as well as four-pound cartons and cartons that contain four 2.5-pound bags, with the tracking codes 12208114, 12208214 and 12208314.
Here we go again…..
Will these recalls ever stop? I just don’t know what to buy anymore? Hope all TDK’ers are safe from the latest recall. Please check your food. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
**Police Say Impaired Mom Let Son, 5, Drive**
Boy Tells Police He Can’t Reach Pedals
POSTED: 8:04 am PDT August 30, 2007
UPDATED: 10:05 am PDT August 30, 2007
LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Police said an intoxicated mother faces charges after she let her 5-year-old son drive her around, reported WRTV-TV in Indianapolis.
Holly Schnobrich, 24, of Lafayette, was charged with two counts of felony neglect and public intoxication.
The boy and his 3-year-old brother, who was also in the vehicle, were placed into the custody of the Department of Child Services, police said.
Investigators said neither child was restrained.
The Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Department said they were called early Sunday morning after neighbors told them they saw the boy behind the wheel.
“It was just bizarre,” Barrett told the Journal & Courier of Lafayette. “I asked, ‘Is this toddler driving your car?’ She said, ‘He’s a good driver.'”
Police said another neighbor took Schnobrich’s car keys so that she couldn’t get away before officers arrived.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Schnobrich admitted taking the prescription painkiller Percocet and had a near-empty bottle of sleeping pills that she told them she had for two days.
Officers said the child driver told them he couldn’t reach the pedals.
Schnobrich was being held Thursday in the Tippecanoe County Jail on a $10,000 surety bond.
Prosecutors said Schnobrich pleaded guilty last week to an unrelated charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Awwww—I love how he kisses her nose!
Sooo sweet! If they’re not already thre, my two have to both come up on the bed in the morning for their a.m. scritches. That’s our time together until I get home from work. But they don’t give kisses. Wish they would, but since I didn’t get them as kittens, I wasn’t able teach them to kiss.
That IS sweet. It’s amazing the stuff I can see once I’m home.
My cats are sweet in the morning but Hudmeister is extra sweet.
I’m going to take him to work with me tomorrow so I don’t have to leave him. Sebby and Mavvy pick on him.
**Sprawling Spider Web Engulfs North Texas Park Trail, Full Of Captured Mosquitoes**
POSTED: 10:58 am PDT August 30, 2007
WILLS POINT, Texas — Entomologists are debating the origin and rarity of a sprawling spider web that blankets several trees, shrubs and the ground along a 200-yard stretch of trail in a North Texas park.
Officials at Lake Tawakoni State Park say the massive mosquito trap is a big attraction for some visitors, while others won’t go anywhere near it.
“At first, it was so white it looked like fairyland,” said Donna Garde, superintendent of the park about 45 miles east of Dallas. “Now it’s filled with so many mosquitoes that it’s turned a little brown. There are times you can literally hear the screech of millions of mosquitoes caught in those webs.”
Spider experts say the web may have been constructed by social cobweb spiders, which work together, or could be the result of a mass dispersal in which the arachnids spin webs to spread out from one another.
“I’ve been hearing from entomologists from Ohio, Kansas, British Columbia — all over the place,” said Mike Quinn, an invertebrate biologist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department who first posted photos online.
Herbert A. “Joe” Pase, a Texas Forest Service entomologist, said the massive web is very unusual.
“From what I’m hearing it could be a once-in-a-lifetime event,” he said.
But John Jackman, a professor and extension entomologist for Texas A&M University, said he hears reports of similar webs every couple of years.
“There are a lot of folks that don’t realize spiders do that,” said Jackman, author of “A Field Guide to the Spiders and Scorpions of Texas.”
“Until we get some samples sent to us, we really won’t know what species of spider we’re talking about,” Jackman said.
Garde invited the entomologists out to the park to get a firsthand look at the giant web.
“Somebody needs to come out that’s an expert. I would love to see some entomology intern come out and study this,” she said. Park rangers said they expect the web to last until fall, when the spiders will start dying off.
How awesome. These spiders are like TDK. Started out small, spread wide, does a lot of good.
Here’s a pic…

Thanks Lynn! Much appreciated. We had a holiday Monday just gone, no more public hols til Christmas now, more’s the pity! On the positive side, I only work 4 days/week, and have tomorrow off – then back to work Monday and off Tuesday, so not too bad all round!! Hope your weekend is fuzzy too x
Madcatwoman, I work in PA and my company is in the UK. I try to keep up with your holidays, but you guys have some weird ones! I am sorry you have no more til Xmas, but why are you off Tuesday? You guys have alot more time off than those of us in the US. Thanks for thinking of me and responding. I hope you have a good week coming up. Have you ever heard of Fairfield Displays and Lighting? This is the company I work for here in the US. We are the only outlet here. If not, no big deal, but let me know of your holidays. Since I work in shipping and receiving, this would be a great help to me. thanks, dear lady, and hugs and purrs to you. Lynn
How could anybody throw these two gems in a Dumpster!
From Cooking Club of America–sounds great!
Chunky Turtle Blondies
These delicious, dense bars are a take-off on the popular turtle candies. They’re loaded with chocolate chips and pecans and topped with gooey caramel. And all you need are two bowls and a spoon to mix them up.
BARS
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups pecan halves, toasted*
TOPPING
12 caramels, halved
24 pecan halves, toasted*
2 oz. semisweet chocolate, chopped
1/2 teaspoon shortening
1. Heat oven to 325°F. Line 9-inch square pan with heavy-duty foil, leaving extra foil extending over edges. Spray with nonstick cooking spray.
2. In medium bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt. In large bowl, stir together brown sugar and butter until smoothly blended. Whisk in eggs and vanilla until blended. Stir in flour mixture just until incorporated. Stir in chocolate chips and 1 1/2 cups pecan halves. (Batter will be very thick.) Spread batter in pan.
3. Bake 35 to 45 minutes or until golden brown and toothpick inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs attached (be careful not to hit chocolate chips). Do not overbake. Remove from oven. Immediately place caramel halves on top of bars. Return bars to oven; bake 2 to 4 minutes or until caramels are soft and slightly melted. Top caramels with 24 pecan halves. Cool completely on wire rack.
4. Place chocolate and shortening in small microwave-safe bowl; microwave 20 to 60 seconds or until melted, stirring occasionally. Drizzle over bars. Let stand until set. Using foil edges, lift bars from pan. Slide bars off foil onto cutting board; cut into 16 pieces. (Bars can be made up to 2 days ahead. Cover and store at room temperature.)
TIP *To toast pecan halves, place on baking sheet; bake at 325°F. for 7 to 9 minutes or until slightly darker in color. Cool.

Such courage!
How sweet and tiny! Thank goodness there are still people in this world that have kind and loving hearts to look out for God’s creatures.
May you and your fur babies have a long, happy life together.
Hello Lynn,

romance-so sweet, baby rhino-so sad. Loss for words. Lynn
Roxy and Dublin are adorable.
Yesterday was Christopher’s first day of grade K.
About a week ago I wrote something about my stressful day and I haven’t been able to reply to its replies. Rabbits cannot be healed from rabies; the rabbit was being held in the office so it wouldn’t be able to hurt other animals. Tests were being performed on it for a better understanding of the disease. I hate having to have other vets put down animals, but its to put the rabbit out of its misery.
Caitlin is fine good. She needed a few shots and bandages but that’s all. She is turning four on November 2nd. (Wow, time flies!)
Everyone else is doing good, including myself. I haven’t had too many very stressful days since then. The whole family is going on a trip to Russia in a couple of months.
Before I became pregnant Benjamin and I were planning to adopt a little girl from Africa. I don’t know how I can possibly manage to do so now, but it’s still in my thoughts. Every time I think about not adopting her all I can think of is Ben hugging her and playing with her. It makes me so happy and yet so sad. If I adopt little Adelle my troubles, stress, and blood pressure will go up. But she will fill the hole in my heart and make us all very happy, which I think is more important.
Follow your heart about the African girl.
I’m glad to hear about the Russian trip. It will be good for Caitlin and Christopher to stay in touch with the place they were born. I remenber Ben posting about the adoption process and I was impressed at the maturity in you both at such a young age. 🙂
Not to be unfluffy, but if you want to be the mother of a black child, there are more than enough black children who languish in orphanages in the U.S. that it seems unnecessary to go to Africa to adopt a black child. Come to think of it, there are plenty of children of all races and mixed races in the U.S. who need a permanent family for whatever reason. Have you tried adopting an American child first?
I said ‘Caitlin is fine good’– a serious typo, sorry.
In case Toni and the rest of the staff with BCFFA are checking us out today (I have a feeling…): a sincere thank you for a fantastic job! Your organization is quite impressive and we are very proud to be affiliated with you. And I’m sure our friend Jerry is smiling right now…
Toni and staff,
Thanks for helping us remember a dear friend and help kittens in his name, Bless you!
Peace
Dorie
Toni, I can’t thank you enough for helping Dee to get this memorial set up for our dear Jerry. You know that I will continue to help to keep his memory alive. I thank you for picking out a beautiful plaque and the kitty behind it! I love what you do and the house is just as I imagined it would be. So clean, and so inviting for whomever may adopt one or more of your beautiful kittys in the pictures. May all of Chester’s kittys find there real home. Thanks again and one more shoutout to Dee. May our friend Jerry now rest in peace. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
These kitten’s are too adorable.
I am so tried of Kitten abuse. I am so happy to hear though that these kitties have happy endings 🙂

nicely the feeling many of us have about going
to work…
And hey, Brandi Lee, I will write you off list — thanks!
Now that is pure bliss for a kitten lover!
I have that pic in my computer! I’ve had it for quite awhile.
It’s so cute.

I have four dumpster cats ranging in age from 1 to 18 and they are the best, most loving, most beautiful, funniest cats in the world. Thank you for giving these babes a good home. Just love them. Love makes beauty out of trash.
one man’s trash is another’s treasure.
Sorry dinner’s late. There’s pot roast with potatoes, onions, carrots, and parsnips, rice pilaf, string beans, dinner rolls, iced tea with raspberries, black cherry ice cream sundaes, and cinnamon red-hot martinis. Who wants eats?
–Vicki–
I would soooooo love not to cook this evening. The temps on our porch are still reading 104. Waaaaaay too hot to cook.
It all sounds delish, especially the iced tea w/rasberries.
Please sir can I have some More?
Yum Vicki!!!
Hey Vicki, late, need eats! Sounds good to me, may I have a small plate of vitals? Thank you. Lynn
My ex found two kittens in a dumpster at a jobsite years ago. Why are people so cruel? It would be kinder to just leave them loose.
Christine, good to see you here again. Thanks for clearing that up about the rabbit–I was quite confused. Thank God Caitlin is ok!
Vicki, where do you live? If it is anywhere in Georgia I’ll be right over. I just ate a few spoonfuls of leftover mac and cheese for dinner and am too tired to cook after working and then battling traffic!
I’m about 1000 miles north of you, in tropical Cleveland, Ohio. 🙂
I’m getting my keys. 🙂
I just checked an e-map; according to it I am only about 700 miles away, give or take an inch. 🙂 I always figured I was about 1000 miles away.
My stepdad’s from Rome, Georgia, though.
You know what they say…All Roads Lead to Rome…I’ve actually been to Rome, GA, in my travels with Lancome. I have helped out at the Lancome counter at the Rome Belk. Also, my nephew goes to Berry College in Rome and my 19 year old son is there right now visiting him!
Why does that remind me of a B52s song all of a sudden?
God bless that building super, and God bless you for taking these two into your home. Of course, you are blessed to have them.
Just wanted to thank you Dorie and Artistabobbi for sending out prayers and goodvibes. Also thankm everyone else who send me oodvibes for tomorrows interview.
Also, ye I hope i get a great group of kids if I get hired. And well if not I can work on them to change right. LOL!
Hey Vicki, thanks for the food! Was wonderful and comforting. Need some of comforting now. You are most welcome to the cyber food realm. Keep it coming!! Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Hi Lynn,
What is it that you need comforting??
Hey girl, hope you are still on. Alot going on here. Don’t want to put it out right now. Thanks for looking out for me, as you always do. Just know that Jerry’s pics from Toni, have made me feel better. As all of you do. Trying to hang in there as best I can. At my age, all of what you try to do to make things ok, don’t always end up that way. Just trying to keep on moving on, I think as HM says. I take what all of you comment on, try to apply it in my life and make the best of all of it. Sometimes, someone may say something that hits home, and I have to deal with what they say, because they are right. And other times try to keep m anger in check for something that hits me in my core. Love this site, because, when I am not feeling fluffy, I can go away for a while and come back when I am, so as not to hurt anyone’s feeeling by the words I may use. I thank everyone for welcoming me back when I return. You all are so special, not only to me, but to those you “speak” with here. Know that if you need help, you have come to a good place.
Thanks, Bumblebee, you have watched out and over me. You know you are special to me. Just keep checking, I am ok for the most part. thanks again. Hugs and Purrs to you and yours. Lynn
Lynn, sweetie…
I’m sorry for whatever you are going through or feeling. I have those days too…. I understand exactly what you mean by your words. I struggle also as I’m sure we all do.
Please now I will be thinking of you, praying for you and caring about you….
Love ya. HUGS 🙂
My Pa. buddy,
I forgot to say that I think you and I are a lot alike.
Yeah, from the way we talk, we may be. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Thank you my cyber friend. Hope you are ok too. Getting storms tonight? Sounds like they may be in your area. Take care if they are and have a great holiday weekend. Hope you are off and can enjoy. Can’t tell you how much your posts mean to me. Much love and hugs and purrs, Lynn
Thanks sweetie,
Yes I just saw some lightening…. have to unplug the modem. I sure don’t want it to fry again! BYES!!!!
Good lord, unplug by all means! Don’t fry again! Need you here! Take care and see ya later. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Everyone have a lovely evening and night. See ya all tomorrow…..
Hugs and prayers for all who are hurting…..
Good Night!!!
Goodnight, dear friend, hope to get on tomorrow, but if not, see you soon. Hugs and Purrs and may the angels gently kiss you as you sleep. Lynn
I’m so glad to hear you didn’t separate them… at such a young age they seem to have an unbreakable bond! 😀
Hi everyone.
Getting on late tonight. Actually had WORK (that old 4-letter word), and Thurs is our night to go OUT of the building for “lunch”. (May be supper to you all, but it is our lunch.)
Thank God for all those who pull kitties out of dumpsters. I cannot believe people could do that! But I tend to be a Pollyanna, and want to think people are basically good. And I think most are. But those others!!!!!!.
Roxy and Dublin are absolutely precious. Again, thanks for saving them. And very un-fluffy thoughts to those who do ugly things to God’s creatures.
Cheri – Good luck on your move. I hate to move, and the last time I did it I had about 42 boxes of books! My friends were NOT happy with me.
Lynn,
You are good people. You are always doing for folks here, and I’m sure everywhere you are. Save some time for yourself. Love yourself. I will send positive energy your way. I appreciate your words of wisdom.
Love, purrs and headbutts.
If you’re still up, I can fix you a plate. I think I have some pot roast, a few vegetables, and some rice left. The dinner rolls look gone, but I have cornbread. Oh, and save room for dessert and cocktails; I can still fix you a black cherry ice cream sundae and a cinnamon red-hot martini.
Hi Vicki
As a vegetarian, I’ll skip on the dinner, but the dessert and cocktails – yum!
The ‘people’ who put these adorable babies in the dumpster have no heart. But the attentive and caring super and you DO have a heart….and a big one! May the Lord bless you and these sweetie pies always. 🙂
Two lucky babies, and one lucky owner!
Found in a bag in a dumpster? SHUDDER!! SHUDDER!!! SHUDDER!!!!
I’d really like to think that the lucky kitties getting found in dumpsters are the only ones it ever happens to.
If anybody needs to get the ‘chair’, it’s people who do stuff like this.
It would be nice to have some “before and after” pics of kitties and fully-grown cats on here 🙂
BUNNIES!!!! I like em!
Little gifts from God.
you two are adorable!!!
…were found in a bag in a box in a dumpster? What the h*ll is wrong with people???
Ditto!!!! I just don’t understand either. Such little darlings…. thank heaven they found a wonderfully caring home! 🙂
