Good morning, TDKers!
Good morning Bosley’s mom.
Good morning, Huddy’s Mama! 🙂
Good morning!
How’s your grandfather, Meezermama?
Much better than anyone expected actually. thank you for asking. They gave him 4 units of blood and 1 unit of platelets. They are running tests today. When I visited him in the hospital last night, he said that he actually felt better about his health then than he had in the nursing home. The doctor at the hospital thinks that he may have been bleeding internally for a long time, it just recently was enough fo there to be a recognizable sign of it. That would explain the dizziness and the recent very rapid decline in his strength. Hopefully they will be able to find where he is bleeding and get him on the mend again.
He was a little loopy when I went to visit, but anyone who had been living with half their alloted blood supply would be. He was feeling much better and his color is beginning to come back.
That is good news MM! It’s always hard when the docs are guessing at what’s wrong with our loved ones. Stay strong… and more positive and healing light and energy is coming your way!
Awesome news. More good news, please?
That is great news, MM. More prayers coming your way!
Glad to hear your GrandDad is doing better MeezerMama. Always scary when they have to suddenly go to the hospital. Prayers, hugs and purrs to you and your family that he continues to get better.
^What Karin said.
*Hugs to MeezerMama*
I am SO glad to hear!!
ok, I’m about to say something strange. Bear with me.
I got great news today, Granddad has a large bleeding ulcer. This is great news because his doctor can treat that. The previous diagnosis was a progressive condition that was untreatable. This explains the progressive weakness and quite possibly the mental fog as well. It sounds weird to be glad that he had bloody stool, but if that’s what it takes to get a diagnosis. Lord works in mysterious ways right?
Great news! Good thoughts heading your and his way.
Finally, an answer! It is wonderful to know that the problem can be fixed. The power of healing thoughts and prayers–and good medical care–works again. 🙂 You must be very relieved.
We are all relieved. Something fixable, though unpleasant, beats complete bafflement.
that’s great! a definite diagnosis and one that is cureable, nothing better than that. yes! it’s awsome how the Lord works and the answer to our prayers are always right & perfectly timed. our thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. God Bless
Awesome news. The old cowboy now has something definite to fight. Continued prayers, good thoughts, purrs and headbonks to Granddad and the whole family.
What a relief! I feared for something much more sinister. My whole family sends happy thoughts and healing purrs enhanced with hugs and head bonks to your Granddad and the rest of your family.
Meezermama,
I’m happy for you and your granddad! 🙂
I know what it is like to get some good news on a loved one. My uncle had back surgery last Thursday. I finally heard from my aunt on Tuesday morning. It was touch and go. He had complications during his 5hr surgery, then developed a high fever but he is doing better now. I haven’t heard from her since then. The hospital was thinking of sending him home yesterday.
Yay for Granddad! I’m glad it’s something treatable. Wonderful news. *hugs MeezerMama*
Great news MeezerMama 😛
So glad to hear grandpa is on his way to recovery! Hugs and purrs all around!!
ohhhh the sweet little babies – they can’t live in a tree!! Poor mom didn’t know where else to go – hope they stay safe.
OMGosh they are georgous! Is there any way you can contact a no kill shelter to rescue them???
G’ day Bailey’s Mama!
Top of the morning Miu! How’s it going fur ya today?
Ya got me there, me not speak more Texan. 🙂
Having a smooth & lazy day – can’t complain. 😉 Have your parents made up their minds about lil’ Zippy?
My Dad has and it’s different from my Mom’s. Probably will know tomorrow.
I thought this site was about kitties?!?? Those ferals are adorable!
Hi, Miz Alice’s mom. TDK is about kitties and life, love, loss, humor and all the other things that happen to those of us who comment here. We are a cyber family. We try to “keep it fluffy” in making our comments but we are here for each other celebrating victories and offering support for those experiencing hardship or pain. Please join us!
Welcome Mis Alice’s mom. What does your furbaby look like?
I agree, you SHOULD check the yellow pages for a no-kill shelter. They are so sweet, they should have no problems finding a home.
SQUEEEEE! Little gray baby FUZZLETS! (Am I first?)
ARen’t they the cutest!
Another cat tree! I’ve just got to get one.
Must be a pussywillow tree! Careful it might have cat-erpillars too!
I’ve been wanting to get one for Bob. He’s got a small kitty condo already, but I want to get one he ca climb up high on. However, he’s always knocking his little one over and falling off. I don’t want to get a bigger and higher one if it won’t stay on the floor. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can accomplish this?
Hello Everyone,
I doubt he will be able to knock over a big cat tree. They can be pretty heavy. I gave one to friends that weighed a ton, it was too big for my house. Shop around, look on-line, you’ll find something. The cats love them.
There are many good tall trees with large bases that are quite stable. However if you are still concerned and the tree you select does not come with one you can always add a ceiling brace. Measure from the highest platform to the ceiling and buy a heavy duty spring rod (like the ones for shower curtains about 1 inch in diameter) and brace your post with that.
That’s a great idea! I suppose that’s what I’ll have to do with the Christmas tree as well?
A ceiling brace/hook is a good idea for a Christmas tree.
I’ve solved tall cat trees with too small a base by adding weights to the bottom, and/or enlarging the base by adding a larger piece of plywood to the bottom. The additional plywood also adds more weight.
That’s a great idea, too – never thought of adding weight to it – makes sense. Thanks for the advice!
Get one from Drs. Foster & Smith catalog or online.
Good Morning. A tree full of cats–what a wonderful thing. I wonder if I can find one at the local nursery. 🙂
I dunno, it’s been a little dry this year. Kitten crop might be sparse. On those wetter years, however, the trees put out many more kittybuds, and the kittens’ whiskers grow exceptionally long during those mid-summer hot days.
🙂
🙂 Thx for a lovely visual!
To Intuition: Do you think you could paint a landscape filled with kitten trees? 🙂
If she can paint it, I will buy it! This image is so cute, I would love to have a copy in large size of it. So, Intuition, can you do it?
Or create an original painting and make posters of it that we can buy? I’m in.
Very cute analogy Judy! Can I sign up for one of those trees, please? I love the looks on these fuzzlets. So cute! I want to take them all home. I think Sylvester would have fun with them.
Sure! We have quite a long waiting list though…. (lol)
You have to go to Canada. =^_^=
I’m going to New Brunswick to climb a tree!!!
Can I come?
Let’s go! I want at least one of those kittens. It would be well worth the climb!
Yeah, I’m resonably sure I’ll fall down, but that’s okay, I’m used to that!
I’m reasonably sure that if the prize weren’t one of those adorable babies I wouldn’t even try to climb a tree these days! 😉
little cuties
Hey you kids!! Get out of that Kitten Tree!!!
Heehee! Too Cute ^_^
you poked your camera in the tree and took pictures – and somehow resisted taking these gorgeous little critters home? wow! The kitten tree is REAL, folks, REAL
A kitten tree! Who knew they grew there?! Morning TDKs–good to be back–Ive missed you all!
How ya doin’ today?
Hi Rainingwolf, we missed you. Are you feeling better?
Nice to see you! Head bonks, kitty licks and belly rubs for Redford!
–Welcome back Rainingwolf–
You were missed 🙂
How incredibly awesome!!!! and too cute!
I always knew there were Kitten Trees. The gray kittens indicate a rainy summer season here in Pennsylvania, and the kittybuds in the fall are usually orange with deeper autumnal markings, although some Kitten Trees have flame point Siamese kittens.
And I am going to plant one in my back yard and watch!
Think I’ll check with my local garden center and see if they carry Kitten Trees so I can plant one in my backyard too!
Hey Joan, race you to the tree, see who gets the prizes! Aw, we can share them.
Sorry, I already went by in my helicopter and spirited them away to the sharing circle.
but, … but, … we’re from Jersey! We would have brought them to the sharing circle eventually, but since HM has a fancy-schmancy helicopter… Ok, I guess I’m not going to New Brunswick this afternoon. Off to the sharing circle I go, to cuddle with the cute little fuzzies. See ya there!
If you add Miracle Gro, will you get more kitties or bigger kitties? 😆
Turns them all into Maine Coons!
Or Ponderosa cats.
KMR is Miracle Grow for Kitties.
A congress of faries awaiting Shakespeare.
What a wonderful “scene” you describe. One of my big boys still thinks he is a delicate child – he is at heart.
did you do anything to rescue these babies?
Both my cats were ferel. They look young enough still to domesticate them. My girls are both grateful i rescused them…Those are gorgeous cats. take them to the shelter so they can be touched, spayed/ or neutered and given their shots. …they have amuch better shot at survival and happiness in someones homes.
What precious little fuzzballs!
We were out driving by Lake Martin (Louisiana swamp) last evening and found a kitten that had apparently just been thrown away on the edge of the swamp. We picked him up and our friend who was with us named him Lafitte and took him home. I wish all these stories had happy endings!
Blessings on you and your friend for saving that little fur baby. In your honor, I have brought Turducken from Herbert’s to share. For anyone who hasn’t heard of Turducken it is a boneless checken stuffed inside a boneless duck, stuffed inside a boneless turkey with all sorts of wonderful cajun stuffing and spices. You bake it and when you slice it you get all three layers. Heaven. From Herbert’s Specialty Meats in Maurice, LA
Thanks for the Turducken!
Here at Poche’s Meat Market (“Everything on a hog is good”) you can get anything from boudin to chaudin (stuffed pig stomach) — & the stuffed pork chops are great.
Stuffing a pork chop is just plain WRONG I say, WRONG. 🙂
I bet you could stuff it with more meat! 😆
Hmmmmm…a pork chop stuffed with bacon. That might just work. *ponders with finger on chin*
Amazing, HM–I was thinking of bacon, too. A little mozarella might be good, too. Gosh, I’m hungry!
The more drugs they give me the more psychic I become – muwahahahahahhahaha!
That sounds tasty, bacon and mozarella stuffed pork chops.
Better yet–fatty pork steak wrapped around bacon, mozzarella, and mushrooms. Gosh, I need to find something to eat NOW!
I’m sitting here having a heart attack just reading these posts! 😆
I’m going in search of chocolate, be right back……
Huddy’s mama,
They have pork chop fillets wrapped in applewood bacon back here, at the steakhouse we eat at, it’s not bad. They also serve steak wrapped in bacon.
Ohhhh that sounds so good. I think they have that at a Golden Corral here. I’ve seen it advertised.
The add says “Bacon makes everything better”. The first time I heard that I was wondering what the point of that statement was. I told the television “Thank you Captain Obvious”
ala Homer Simpson with drooling included*
*mmmmmmmmmm…………..bacon*
PPearson, that sounds so good, I watched a show on the travel channel about Herbert’s. I will definately try a piece.
Herbert’s here does a BOOMING business. My sister likes the bonless chickens stuffed with shrimp.
I’ve never heard of Herbert’s. Is it a locally owned place? I love places where you can get unique food items–I try not to go into Central Market too often cuz it’s dangerous for me!
They have them all over. I’ll bet there’s one in Ft Worth. There’s 3 locations in Houston. It’s actually spelled Heberts (A-BARE’S) usually a green sign with white writing.
Here’s a link I found:
http://www.hebertsmeats.com/index.asp
Wow, I’m on my way to Texas!!!!!!
Come on Down!!!
I go to that place all the time for other people, but they don’t have ANYthing I like.
Herbert’s boneless chicken stuffed with spicey brocolli and rice is my favorite!!!! I was craving it so much last night that I tried to make it myself. Mine was ok but not as good as the real thing.
ppearson…………..noooooooooooo! Eww on broccoli!
Is that for real?
Yes it’s real.
Yes. Turducken and similar are traditional medieval dishes served at banquets.
Never had it from a banquet, just from friends from LA. They bring me stuffed chickens whenever they go home. The chicken stuffed with crawfish etouffe is good too. (Oh no I am channelling Justin Wilson) I guarantee! “said in a cajun accent”
Awwww, how is it that everybody keeps finding kittens? I never find any! – sniff, sniff. Made the mistake to stop on Saturday at PetsMart and look at the kittens. Wow, there were about twenty little ones! VERY hard not to bring one home for Bob!
I don’t find kittens either, although a few months back a lady next door to my sister found 4 little ones. She took them down the street to the neighborhood vet and they all got homes.
Hi Bob!!
I will say hi to Bob from you. He always gets excited (?) when I return from work with TDK greetings and hugs!
I don’t find lil baby furballs either. Which i guess for me is good, ’cause i couldn’t resisit not bringing them home. When i got to petsmart, i MUST avoid the kitty section where they have the little babies…
I can spend HOURS in Petsmart playing with the babies. But I’m always sad to have to leave them there. 🙁
Are you sure we’re not related, HM? 🙂
Well……my dad DID get around quite a bit in his younger days. 🙂
How wonderful and what a perfect name for a Louisiana kitty!
Hi, KM! Hi, Alex!
Give your friend a BIG kiss and a very warm hug! Don’t forget Lafitte either! ***smooches***
Thank God that you were there to rescue that poor kitten, Gail. Wonderful news that he has a nice forever home now. The angels are smiling at you. Hugs and purrs.
This is just way too precious. I know I couldn’t resist them, but that would probably frighten them to death. Kitten trees. That’s a better concept than a money tree.
They are just too cute ,Hope they find good homes. we all know what happens to feral kittens ,they just have more kittens. A friend and I just had 7 females fixed the owner of the barn wouldn’t even think of helping out he’s a real piece of work, mean as a junk yard dog too.we would love to have found homes for them but no such luck. Hi to all of you !
Having them spayed is the best thing you could do for them. Life is not easy for feral cats. I worry how these little angels will fare.
It doesn’t say if they were resued or not, I hope they were and that momma cat was able to be spayed.
“rescued”
So THIS is the missing link to the next stage in the life cycle of pussy willows!
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
That is all.
….and while the photographer precariously steadied his camera, the
security council met deep within the cave to discuss the possible invasion.
OMG! The Great Kitten Invasion has started! Look at the skies!
I, for one, welcome our new grey kitten overlords. Oh, wait, this isn’t Slashdot…
Ah, the overlord-thing started from Slashdot?
Any way, you have to admit kitten overlords would be a solid alternative…
Hasn’t that been in place for ages? I know who is the overlord in our house! 😀
So fluffy!
they look happy and thriving in their cozy tree-cave. fuzzcluster!
Beautiful little puff babies!
hope someone rescued those beauties and found them good homes!
Hello TDKr’s – my what a great picture of some totally cute and fuzzy kittens!
They are so cute, it breaks my heart thinking they may not survive. I hope someone takes them to a “no-kill” shelter where they can get spayed and give to people who will love them.
Hi all and good morning!!
Hi Alex
Hi KM
What a beautiful quartet of kittens!!!
I pray that they find good homes and lots of tuna and treats!!!
Nips from my babies!!
Love Terri
I’d love to plant one of those kitty trees in my yard!! I’ll take one of each kind!!! How do you know when they are ready to be picked?
Their whiskers reach the ground! 🙂
How FUZZY!!! *carefully tickles feral babies to get them used to people*
Morning TDKers. Sorry I’m late, had to get some kitty vittles at
the human store. Such cutie litlle baby-cats. I hope someone saves
them. *SNIF*
Nursing home cat can sense death?
By Julie Steenhuysen1 hour, 7 minutes ago
When Oscar the Cat visits residents of the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, Rhode Island, the staff jumps into action — Oscar can sense within hours when someone is about to die.
In his two years living in Steere’s end-stage dementia unit, Oscar has been at the bedside of more than 25 residents shortly before they died, according to Dr. David Dosa of Brown University in Providence.
He wrote about Oscar in the New England Journal of Medicine.
“It’s not that the cat is consistently there first,” Dr. Joan Teno, a professor of community health at Brown University, who sees patients in the unit. “But the cat always does manage to make an appearance, and it always seems to be in the last two hours.”
Raised at the nursing home since he was a kitten, Oscar often checks in on residents, but when he curls up for a visit, physicians and nursing home staff know it’s time to call the family.
“I don’t think this is a psychic cat,” said Teno. “I think there’s probably a biochemical explanation,” she said in a telephone interview.
While pets are often used to bring comfort to the elderly in nursing home settings, Oscar’s talent is special, though not unexpected.
“That is such a cat thing to do,” said Thomas Graves, a feline expert and chief of small animal medicine at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine.
Graves said there is no evidence to suggest cats can sense death, but he doesn’t discount it for a minute.
“Those things are hard to study. I think probably dogs and cats can sense things we can’t,” he said.
On a particular day detailed by Dr. Dosa, Oscar settled onto the bed of a patient in room 313.
His presence sent staff off to make calls and set up vigil.
When a grandson asked why the cat was there, his mother explained: “He is here to help Grandma get to heaven,” according to Dosa’s account.
She died a half an hour later.
(Additional reporting by Gene Emery in Boston)
That kitty looks like my sister’s dearly departed Jade (Jadeykins).
Here’s a video about Oscar…
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070726/sc_nm/cat_dc;_ylt=AvVuVu7FGTpd.qO7P6QdtgMDW7oF
I had a cat who use to stay with my kids whenever they were sick. He pretty much ignored them otherwise. If I saw Louie sitting on one of there beds, sure enough they had a fever. Or if they got up during the night he walked around them making mewing noises (this from a cat who otherwise never meowed!) until they got to our room. Smart cats are worth there weight in gold (or kitty treats, take your pick).
I just read this. Animals can sense alot of things. IWhen i was a barista at a local coffee house we had a regular who was epileptic and had a trained dog who would call 911 when he had seizures. One day the dog called 911 before the seizure started. he could sense it coming on. It was really amazing.
That IS amazing, Jennifer!
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if animals sense something. And I don’t think that anybody here would be surprised that for many animals, the response is to offer companionship and compassion.
A woman my mother knew had a dog that a local crow made friends with. The dog suddenly got very sick from a heart condition and they knew that the dog would be gone within about an hour. The crow came banging on the door to be let in, something it had never done before, and when they opened the door, it went looking for the dog and stayed there to the end.
Maybe it was that the dog didn’t go out that morning and the crow didn’t know anything in advance, but it had never banged to be let in other times.
What a sweet and sad story. I think the crow knew and wanted to comfort his friend and say goodbye.
Wow! What a great story!
I saw this on the news last night
Hey all! Look at my Caster family page–you’ll find some cute pictures of Zippy!
What a cutie you have!!!
I wish I had! At least I’ll be able to see him if my parents keep him. He is my brother, though!
I count my parents’ dogs as being mine too!!
The latest on TigerButt and Bailey is that Tiger has decided that Bailey must be his mama since “he” loves on Tiger and now they keep cuddling on the sofa with all the toys. I keep trying to get pictures, but they move too fast for this “old” soul!!!
Love from our family to our TDK family!!!
Awwww! Sounds so great, enjoy your happy family!
My sister and brother both have cats and I refer to them as my nieces and nephews. I call Gizzy my grand nephew because he belongs to my niece.
How many of you all get Christmas cards addressed to you AND your pets? I even get treats for all of mine from my sister-in-law!
Now that I think about it, I do sign my cards from me and all the ‘kids’! 😆
I sign for mine as the Psychedelic Furs.
4 words
a-door-a-ble
Awwww, Zippy!!!!!! Are your parents any closer to a decision about whether or not they’ll keep him? He seems such a lovable little guy.
I should know by tomorrow–it all depends on who wins the argument (Mom or Dad) and whether the man who called the other day wants him (wife out of town). Zippy is a really well-behaved little boy. My Mom has been keeping him in the bathroom at night to give Psycho Cat a little peace & quiet. She had to kitty-proof the bathroom and it is absolutely bare! There was even a flower missing from the wall wreath yesterday before she had to remove even it. They both love him very much.
I’m pulling for your Dad. Go Dad!!!
Go DAD!!!!
Yeah, go DAD!!!! Go Zippy!!!
Zippy, Zippy, Zippy… Roses to your Daddy!
Zippy is a pretty boy, I think it is so unique when they have white all around their nose & then the nose pad is black.
He looks so smart and alert. And besides good looking he is also a sharp dresser. Give him toe tickles and tummy rubs from me!
Zippy looks like a character. Bailey looks like she is wearing a mask, I love the symetry of her colors. I have a tortie as well.
Your family is so cute-we sent a friend invite.
I think that they might be able to squeeze in a few minutes each day to actually play–they (esp. Bosley!) must have at least 23 1/2 hrs. each day of beauty rest! 😆
My cats have a heck-of-a-lot more friends than I do. I’m getting depressed!
Mine do too. Oh well, I’ll never be the ‘popular’ one. Boo hoo hoo!
Zippy could be McKenzie’s little brother! Tuxes are all so handsome. And Zippy was smart when he picked his new family.
Ohhhh!! I love these kitties!! It looks like they are calling a secret meeting together. Maybe a poetry or literary society? Maybe they’re picking parts for the latest production: “The Cat Who Came to Dinner?”
http://theater2.nytimes.com/2006/02/23/theater/reviews/23indo.html
i *love* that review in the Times by the two cats… cute.
BTW, I was trying to remember theater plays and/or movies which have ‘cat’ in their names or playing an important part in them. I came up with Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Cats. Come on, there HAS to be more.???
The Cat in the Hat!
Great! More!!!
“Cats and Dogs”, “Homeward Bound”, ” The Cat from Outerspace”, “Lady and the Tramp”, “Milo and Otis”, ” The Aristocats”, “Charlie the Lonesome Cougar”, “Napoleon and Samantha”, they are movies with cats. I could probably think of some more Miu but would have to search my mind for a bit.
‘Stuart Little” had a cat in it. There was a movie years ago called “Gay Purree” about cats in Paris, France.
Oh yeah, can’t forget “Puss-n-Boots”, it was a movie.
The Christmas Cat
HM: Good! More?
There’s a movie called Ghost Cat that’s really neat. They usually play it on the Animal Planet channel.
Thx! I have to check that one…
The Cat in the Hat
Cats and Dogs
Black Cat, White Cat
Cat Ballou
The Truth About Cats and Dogs
Cat People
Cats Don’t Dance
Cat’s Eye
The Cat’s Meow
That Darn Cat
The Curse of the Cat People
Fritz the Cat
Wow! 3 Golden Cats for you!
You know Fritz the Cat?!
“The Truth about Cats and Dogs”
Good! More, more, more…
Harry and Tonto. Great movie! Art Carney won the best actor Oscar for his leading role.
I LOVE that movie!!!!! One of my faves!
Harry and Tonto? They showed it on TV a while ago and I missed it. 🙁 Hope they show it soon again.
Wow! A big purr to you! You know your culture, don’t you!
Yes Miu, I do. If there was a cat movie out there, I would go see it. I have some of them on DVD or tape.
I LOVE CATS!
“The Princess Diaries” had a black and white cat named Fat Louie. There were the “Garfield movies”, “The 3 Lives of Thomasina”, really sweet movie. ‘Two Brothers” about some tiger cubs.
A long long time ago there used to be a Christmas special called “JT” about a boy who befriended a homeless cat. His family was poor, and he got into trouble by going to the store and putting cat food on credit. He made a little house for the kitty in an abandoned oven and even put an umbrella on top so the kitty wouldn’t get wet.
Well, some boys wound up teasing the kitty and he ran away and was hit by a car and died. The little boy was devastated, but Christmas day, the store owner brought him 2 baby kitties (if memory serves).
It was a tear jerker and they don’t show it anymore.
Just like they don’t show “The House Without A Christmas Tree”. That was a good one too, though it had no cats in it.
Huddy’s mama,
I think I seen both of those movies, years ago. It’s sad that they don’t show alot of the movies and shows that we used to watch during the holidays. They were better than some of the movies they produce today at christmas time.
Oh, it might be that time of the month, but I started to get teary by just reading the plot. I put the name down any way. 🙂
I mean I want to see that one if I can catch it – stupid smiley in a wrong place…
They are both excellent so if you can find them, snatch them up.
Renee, you are so right – they used to have the coolest stuff on during the holidays but now I don’t really like any of the newer Christmas stuff. Hell, I still miss Guy Lombardo on New Year’s Eve.
Years ago, they used to show a movie with Jessica Tandy (whom I absolutely adore!) called, “The Story Lady”. A little on the sappy side, but the message was so great–about feeling valued. Jessica was awesome in it, too, and the kiddos at school always loved watching it.
I don’t know that movie and I thought I’d seen everything with Jessica Tandy in it.
Has anybody here ever seen the movie Mr. Sycamore?
Have you ever seen the movie”Batteries not Included”, it had either Jessica Tandy or Ellen Greer in it. There was another movie(the name escapes me) where there were some pod-like things in a swimming pool at a senior center and after everyone who swam in it, the next morning they all woke up feeling healthier and looking younger.
I loved that movie. It was just on a couple of weeks ago.
Was it called “Cocoon”?
That’s Cocoon for sure.
Though, now whenever I see Cocoon I automatically think of Say Anything also.
Didn’t Jessica Tandy and hubby do a televised movie called something like “The White Dog” ?
“To Dance With the White Dog” is the movie you’re thinking of, Sharon.
“The White Dog” had Kristy McNichol and Paul Winfield in it.
That’s it, HM. Thanks. That was a lovely movie.
There’s also “Oliver & Company”, it’s about a street cat who finds a home and some friends.
I don’t know that one, I’ll have to see if I can find it.
Huddy’s mama,
I found ” Oliver & Company” at Best buy. It is a Disney cartoon about a street kitten who ends up joining a gang of dogs to survive and ends up with a home and friends. It is supposed to be patterned after the story Oliver Twist but with a slight difference because it is done with animals. It has some good music in it too. Oliver is a little ginger cat.
Awwwwww….I’ll get it.
LOVE Homeward Bound and Milo & Otis. I put Milo & Otis on the DVD for Bob when he’s going to be home alone. He enjoys watching the TV.
Oliver & Company is cute, too.
Catwoman, That Darn Cat and, of course……Tom & Jerry!
I loved Puss-n-boots in Shrek–he’s my favorite character. 😆
Cat People, The Black Cat
Almost forgot….Clarence the Cross-eyed Lion (movie and TV series)
Lion reminds me “Second hand Lions”
Sleepwalkers. Freaky cat movie.
How about “Androcles and the Lion” — that was a wonderful movie.
I remember Clarence the Cross-eye Lion. I always thought he’d make an excellent pet (foolish youth). I cried when he died.
I remember him too. He was my first love with cats. I have now downsized!! Thanks for the memory, HM!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! You are amazing!
Cute! They look like they are having a den meeting!
Den meeting! That’s perfect–like little scouts.
The Junior Woodchucks?
The one facing the camera certainly looks like a co-conspirator!
what a smart mom! she got her kits away from the dangers on the ground..

does this mean we should surround ourselves with skinny friends? At only a 3rd of the population, skinny people will suddenly be very popular. No wonder my social calendar has been so full.
Since you’re only 1 state away, can you head my direction? 😆
Hey it said distance didn’t matter. Since I don’t know what any of you look like, and I consider you my friends, my mental image is that you all look like supermodels and so therefore I won’t gain any weight
How did you know? 😆
Great…thanks to more news like this means I am shunned even more now. What a crock! Catching obesity. What’s next? If you dress badly, does that mean I will catch it and will dress badly too.
Isn’t that awful? Now people have yet another (flimsy) excuse to shun big people. It’s the last form of discrimination that is allowed and even -encouraged- in this country. As if chubbies don’t have enough problems now…hearing that story took me back to my unhappy childhood, being heavier than everybody else, being picked on and picked LAST for all games. You think you get over those feelings when you become an adult. You don’t. You just get better at hiding them away. That news story brought it all back. It makes me angry.
Boy, now the busybodies get to tell us who our friends should be? Good grief! Why can’t these people run their own lives and leave the rest of us alone?
See? You should pick your friends based on who can lend you great books, cook great meals, crack you up with good jokes and be ther when you need a strong shoulder to unload. Sure sounds like TDK to me.
Because they don’t have a life? 😛
All jokes aside, no matter what studies say, I will not choose my friends based on something so shallow as physical appearance. I am the only one responsible for my own health and body image. Some of the most beautiful people I know are much larger than I.
Statistics can be slanted to “prove” anything. A great teacher of mine in middle school gave us a project where we had to prove something ridiculous using accurate statistics. I wrote a very compelling paper about how going to the bathroom was fatal due to the fact that nearly 100% of people that have died, have gone to the bathroom at least once in their lives.
This study helps no one and reminds me of childish teasing and judgments.
An ex-boyfriend could take this article and twist it…. I have many friends who are larger than I am, and he insisted I did that so that I would look thinner. Any need to point out just one reason why he is an ex?
You know, we could use the TNR program on this guy.
Just a thought…
The man lacks judgment, brains, and taste. Nope, no question about him being called an “ex.”
Good point, MM. Love me for who I am, not what I look like. We don’t know what we look like here, Except for HM!!! Love ya darling! You are who you are. This is probably the best way to “know” someone. You don’t know what they look like, yet you like what they have to say. Works for me!
These kind of BS studies come out because the are most likly using government grant money for the research, so it almost encourages themSOME finding that they can report on (so they don’t loose their funding) and then the media gets the report (with it’s dubious findings) and sensationalizes it so that they have a headline to run with.
and it all horse droppings in the end
Amen to that.
The person who took the photos should catch the mother and kittens – have the mother spayed and get the kittens adopted. It would be the right and kind thing to do, and if it is not done, you could wind up with a huge number of potentially unhealthy cats, some of which might starve in the East Coast winter.
Please do the right thing!
**Lovemaking hedgehogs disturb the peace in Germany**
Tue Jul 24, 3:52 PM ET
BERLIN (Reuters) – German police called to investigate unusual noises in the garden of a Bremen house late on Monday were surprised to find that a pair of amorous hedgehogs were to blame.
After illuminating the garden with spotlights, officers discovered the animals making love beside the pond.
“The pair were loudly engaged in ensuring the continuity of their species,” said Bremen police spokesman Ronald Walther.
“All those spectators did not worry them in the least, indeed they even intensified their activities, so the officers turned off the lights,” he added.
The hedgehog breeding season runs from April to September and their lovemaking is typically accompanied by very loud puffing and snorting, usually by the female as she tries to ward off the male.
*bite your tongue, FondaHonda, bite your tongue!*
*Don’t say it. Don’t you dare, FondaHonda!* 😆
“Dinsdale?”
sorry, HM, ya lost me on that one? ‘splain?
There was a Monty Python skit about a giant hedgehog. They had this giant hedgehog animation going from house to house yelling “Dinsdale?”
No, my comment would’ve related to the last three lines. . . 😆
😀
Are they making cookies in there? Keebler Kittens?
“Well, you never would believe where those Keebler cookies come from! They’re made by lil kittens in a hollow tree!”
LOL!
Hopefully you have arranged for a rescue.
OMG– I’m having a “cuteness” attack 🙂 That was a nice job of getting their picture. I do hope they find a loving home.
I’ve always considered that a Kitten Tree would be a terribly good idea. This photograph proves it.
Bad food is made without pride, by cooks who have no pride, and no love. Bad food is made by chefs who are indifferent, or who are trying to be everything to everybody, who are trying to please everyone … Bad food is fake food … food that shows fear and lack of confidence in people’s ability to discern or to make decisions about their lives. Food that’s too safe, too pasteurized, too healthy – it’s bad! There should be some risk, like unpasteurized cheese. Food is about rot, and decay, and fermentation.as much as it is also about freshness.
—Chef Anthony Bourdain
Speaking of food, where is breakfast today?????????
I am so sorry, Great Dane, here’s a platter of mixed bagels with a variety of cream cheese, lox, and other yummy toppings!!! And of course various flavored lattes. Enjoy!
Thank you! I too was getting a little worried. I brought a huge almond pie, made it myself. (Ahem!)
Does somebody want a piece of it?
Yippee!!!!!Bagels and lox for me!!!!! And maybe some kind of coffee drink?
Ooooh, and some pie, too, please!
Miu your pie sounds wonderful. Do you use Marzipan in your pie? I take a piece anyways. Thank you. 🙂
They are absolutely beautiful babies. It feels awful to think that they (too) end up living in streets. I have a silly but very sincere wish: somebody up there, please, give them a good home.
Those kittens look to be exactly the right age for rescue, socialization, and finding homes. If that wasn’t/isn’t done, I at least hope they can all be TNR soon.
nncetera, any kitten news?
Maybe the kitties belong to the Keebler Elves!
made with elven goodness!

I love the white outline on the ears! These little ones are way too cute. I wonder if my Chloe looked a little like these kits when she was little. She is a grey and white tuxxy girl…. and ever so soft !
My niece pointed out the white around the ears too. They are just too cute.
So hard to resist getting a playmate for Chloe… must… resist…. must….
Give up! Give up! Give up!…
Soooo – these cute kitties in a tree look old enough to be weaned – please tell me you rescued them so they could be socialized and find homes, or please tell me you had a local rescue group non-kill do that task. They are darling and look cute now, but will very shortly be unadoptable – best wishes and blessings !!
so, so sweet!
Aw, the poor little babies!
Hope that the Hawks don’t decide to grab a kitten. Or an Owl. It would be nice to try to unferrel them(O: and the mom. How are their dispostions? Have you tried to feed the mom and talk to her?
Late today in getting into the sharing circle. Is there still room for me to cuddle with the little grays? I think everyone should have a tree like this! Unfortunately, the little kittybuds grow big and “leaf”!
Lots of room… especially with 4 kittes to go around!
Ah, but when they fall to the ground, they always land on their paws 🙂
Come on LadyKat, there’s plenty of kittens to go around and everybody is enjoying snuggling these little tree babies.
Oh.. those little sweeties! I hope they can be caught and tamed…And I hope that they are well and that mama is well.. 🙂
Oh my goodness! All I can think is – Henrietta Pussycat had kittens!!! 😀
My daughter and I were just talking about Henrietta Pussycat yesterday. Funny you should bring her up.
That is funny. 🙂

Hm, you guys….
Which is what I call “enrichment” not waste. Am I right or what?
Absolutely!!!!

Hey everyone…after all the stress and hard wishing we’ve done with Karin and everyone else who’s job hunting we certainly understand how many disappointments there can be.
My hubby had a great interview recently and hinged a lot of hope on this job only to be rejected for someone with software writing experience. He’s awfully down. Could all of you give a shout out to Paul just to cheer him up? He’d appreciate it.
Thanks. I love this family!
Paul, keep your head up. It’s their loss and I am sending you well wishes and good vibes for success with your job search.
*Hugs to Sharon and Paul*
Good luck on your continued job search, Paul. It is tough to lose out on a job you really want. Keep putting one foot in front of the other until you land the right job. Positive thoughts and headbonks from Digit and Furl are sent your way.
Hey Paul…. Hang in there, the right job (and a better one) is right around the corner. Positive energy coming your way… and to Sharon for her support of you !
Pau, you’ll find a great, much better, job! A friend of mine likes to remind me that change is almost always for the better. She’s right, too – I’ve had my share of badtimes, and somehow everything always turns out right. Hang in there!
Hey Paul. Job hunting is hard and not getting the position you were hoping for was even harder. But there is always a reason. You didn’t get that job because there is a better one out there for you. Best of Luck to you!
I agree with MeezerMama’s and everyone else’s philisophy about your not getting this job, Paul. The door is being left open for the job that is right for you. It’s so hard to see through the tunnel of our disappointment, but keep looking and you’ll see that light at the end of all this frustration. The sunshine you’ll see streaming in the window at the job that’s going to be perfect for you, is a whole lot brighter than the incandesent bulb burning at the job that isn’t right. Watch for that sunshine — it’s coming!
Paul as a fellow job searcher, I understand you huge disappointment of not getting the job. I too just went through that with Merrill Lynch. I basically thought I had the job since I had two Merrill Lynch employees putting in a good word for me only to be told they were considering another candidate. I felt very frustrated like you must be feeling. All I can say is keep on trucking and applying to as many jobs as you can. There is one out there for you and hopefully it will happne soon.
Sharon, you and Paul were so wonderful when my mom got sick. I want to repay the kindness by sending all my love, thoughts and good wishes from me, headbonks, purrs and cuddles from the babies and like my Irish grandad used to say….”From your lips to God’s ears!”
Love Terri
Ugh, Paul. Keep hoping there. Fingers crossed for you!
Ditto to everyone’s comments. Hang in there, Paul. Better things are coming.
–sharon–
You let Paul know that he’ll get the right job. Just think positive
Hey Paul, HOLA! Hang in there, buddy, all will reveil itself in good time. Have faith in yourself. Hugs and Purrs, Lynn
Paul, I too have been there. It may sound hollow just now but something else will appear. And that something else might well be better than this opportunity which escaped you now.
You have a lovely family; cute fuzzies and a loving wife. You have friends who love you and appreciate you. And you WILL get a job which suits you and pleases you.
All it takes it is a little trust on yourself and will to keep on searching. {Hugs}
A nest of the rare fuzzy grey tree urchins!
What a smart momma, to find a safe place for her babies! They look fluffy and healthy for ferals, too. I hope someone can get a ladder and rescue them so they can have good homes.
So cute and fuzzy. They’re going to be gorgeous when they grow up. I hope they’re okay now, do you have an update?

**Your Help Needed to Protect Pets in This Year’s Farm Bill**
The Farm Bill comes up every five years or so in Congress, and historically has been a vehicle for numerous animal protection measures.
This year, the Israel-Doyle Amendment has been introduced to prohibit the use in research of dogs and cats obtained from random source dealers, who may steal pets and fraudulently obtain them through “free to good home†ads. It would also ban the use of live animals in sales demos of medical devices.
**Boy Sells Lemonade To Get Service Dog**
Dog Would Alert Family When Brother’s Sugar Levels Drop
POSTED: 10:00 am PDT July 26, 2007
AURORA, Colo. — Mark Rinkel is spending his summer selling lemonade to raise money for his 9-year-old brother, who has Type I diabetes.
Jason Rinkel is in line for a service dog that would alert him or a family member if the boy’s sugar levels drop to an extremely low or high level.
“It is unpredictable,” said Marisa Rinkel, Jason’s mother. “At times when I think his blood sugar is going to be low, he’s high. And when I think it is going to be high, it’s low.”
The service dog can cost $16,000 to $25,000.
“We are not exactly buying the dog; we are helping to fight off some of that cost,” said Mark.
So Mark decided a lemonade stand was the perfect way to do it. And he’s not selling the powdered kind. It’s fresh-squeezed lemonade.
“At first [people] think, ‘Oh, it is just a lemonade stand,'” said Mark. “But then when we go over there, we find their softer side when we tell them why we are doing the lemonade stand and 90 percent of the time, they will donate.”
“It makes me cry. He is amazing,” said Marisa, through tears. “He built a Web site, he passed out fliers. He got a Petco manager to pass out his fliers to everybody. He has just been incredible, a very great big brother.”
The lemonade stand can be found in different locations throughout the metro area.
On Sunday, July 29, you can find the stand behind the Dozens Restaurant at South Havana and Warren in Aurora. It will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
For more information about the lemonade stand and how you can help get a service dog for Jason, go to PawsOfLife.net.
Funny, I had just read this story and was about to post it. So beautiful.
Wow, what a great kid!
Thats only a couple of blocks from me, might have to go get me some LEMONAIDE!! 🙂
**Driver Bedeviled By Cab 666**
San Francisco Won’t Change Driver’s Medallion
POSTED: 8:57 am PDT July 26, 2007
UPDATED: 9:18 am PDT July 26, 2007
Michael Byrne isn’t doing the devil’s work — even though he drives cab number 666.
He wants the San Francisco taxi commission to retire his medallion number. He said driving cab 666 has brought him nothing but bad luck.
But the commission has turned down his request. One taxi commissioner noted cab 666 has been on the streets of the city for at least 30 years — and San Francisco has managed to survive.
I rode in a cab with the #666 on it once in Chicago (or maybe it was New Jersey). Never again. That was the worst cab ride of my life, but I didn’t even notice the number until the man friend pointed it out.
Hmmmm – one of my worst cab rides was in San Francisco – just about 30 years ago… I wonder…?! 😉

*crawls up into the tree with the fuzzy kitties and falls asleep*
It is so hard getting used to not having caffeine. Not even the cutest kitty could wake me up and give me energy this morning
Are you giving up the caffeine to get your blood pressure down? I’ve gone cold turkey on caffeine before and it wasn’t pretty. I sometimes got withdrawal headaches. It does get better once you’ve gone without for a few days. Hang in there and enjoy those tree kitties!
Oh, yes, I get those headaches, too. I’ve tried getting off caffeine quite a few times, but always give up eventually. I always found it helped if I mixed the coffe half caffeinated and half decaf. You’ll still get a bit of caffeine and drinking a normal size cup of coffe (which for me is extra large) sort of tricks you into thinking you’re not missing anything.
That’s a good strategy, Great Dane. I drank nothing but decaf for several years but I’ve worked my way back to one 16 ounce cup of black coffee in the morning. My daughter worked as a barista for years and they called special coffee drinks made with decaf “why bothers!” 🙂
Yeah, really!
What a beautiful bundle of blue babies! This is a once-in-a-lifetime picture.
Would also like to be able to post comments on website

i want to be sent daily kitten e mail daily, ok
Hi, Brenda. I don’t think the Daily Kitten e-mails kitten photos out to a list of subscribers. There is something called an RSS “feed” which will forward all the comments on this website to you. You have to sign up for it. Look for the pink RSS 2.0 right under the photo of today’s kitten. If you click on it, it will ask you if you want to sign up for this service (it’s free).
You can always check out the photos by coming to this website any time. You don’t need permission to comment on entries but the general rule here is to “keep it fluffy”–no inappropriate language or personal attacks on others who comment here.
Many of us have photos and stories about our own cats on the catster.com website. Click on my name, Kitten Whisperer, and you will be able to see my cats, Digit and Furl.
Welcome to TDK!
KW, you’re the best! It would have taken me 12 paragraphs to say all that — but we all know I’m …well…longwinded. You put it in a nutshell. You rock!
Thanks, Jo. 🙂
You are not long-winded. You just explain things very carefully and make sure that your point is understood. Wordsmithing is an art. You practice this art.
Kindness and encouragement are also arts. You have truly mastered them. Thanks, Emma!
well. even if she is feral, at least she’s circumspect in her dating.
how cute they r..i read this kitten article daily but felt the need to respond, as new brunswick was my last home before relocating to so fla 7 yrs ago…and am an absolute cat (and all animals, for that matter..).lover..were u able to rescue these guys ???
Welcome Sheree!
Evening all – still increcibly soggy on this side of the pond; and no Kitten Whisperer, in reply to your question yesterday, my 4 still think the bad weather is all my fault. However, a tin of tuna helps convince them that I’m not the anti-christ – well, for the 2 minutes it takes for them to hoover it up that is! More rain promised for the next few days, let’s just hope August sees a change in the skies above.
PS I want a kitten tree!! Sooooo cute.
Good to see you are keeping your spirits up despite the relentless bad weather. I live in Oregon, one of the three west coast states in the US. We have a saying here that if you don’t like the weather, just wait five minutes and it will change. 🙂
KW – it’s been a long day! There’s two comments down there somewhere that should have been replies to your comment. I am off in search of a darkened room – normal service will (hopefully) be resumed tomorrow!
I saw them and replied. Sleep well, MCW.
Funny thing. They say the same thing about the weather in Chicago, where I live now. And they said the same thing in Cincinnati when I used to live there…
Paul and Sharon, hope a dream job comes through. Broke my ankle on the way to a job interview and spent 8 months hunting for something (near the end of that time, for ANYthing). Have settled into my dream job and have been here since December. If you don’t lose hope, it will happen! And when I’m around, there’s always hope – it’s my middle name!)
Cute little gray puffballs. I wants one!
So is the UK going to get so waterlogged it will float across the pond and connect to the mainland here? Just think, flying to London for a show and dinner all in an evening. Or a quick jaunt to the Irish countryside or Scotland for a little golf on the weekend. Works for me!
OH, it would be heavenly to be able to go to the British Open!!!
And the theater in London, and a horseback ride in Irish country. The possibilities—if you were closer to us.

Hello TDK friends.. I just recieved a kind thank you note from Jerry Smith’s (Chester to us) family, thanking me for the donation to Friends Of Animals in his memory.
I haven’t heard from them yet. Does anyone know how much has been donated so far to this no kill shelter in honor of Chester?
Dee would know… Are you out there Dee?
I haven’t heard from them either, KW. Maybe they are getting so much response that they have tons of mail to go through!! I sincerely hope so.
Yes, Caroline, I recieved a card from Betty, Jerry’s Mom tonight also. I have emailed her and hope she will contact me too. If not, it’s ok. I appreciate that she responded. It made me feel good. Dee said that Toni would let her know of all of the donations that were given. I know this shelter is an upfront and very kind one. I recieved a thank you from the shelter and now one from Jerry’s family. They follow through with what they promise. Dee, I thank you for setting this up and doing the homework. I will continue to make a monthly donation in Jerry’s memory to keep the kittens safe. Dee, can’t thank you enough. Good job, girfriend. Purrs and Hugs Lynn
ok, spelling is not going well here. If I could just stop Lucky from trying to help. Girlfriend-Dee! thanks
Hi KW! We have relatively new neighbours, and the wife is Thai – she’s convinced this is just the rainy season; I haven’t the heart to tell her if we don’t get some sunshine soon, it’ll last until March…
Btw, Mum had a hospital check up today and, physically at least, seems to be much better. Just have to work on the depression & anxiety now…
Drat, forgot to hit the reply to button – see below KW! (I am so bad with technology, should not be allowed near computers!)
You are doing fine, MCW. 🙂 I’m glad your mum is dong better physically. I hope the doctors can figure out a medication that might work for her to ease the depression and anxiety. Sending positive thoughts her way.
We all learn with practice, Madcatwoman. You’ll get the hang of it.
Madcatwoman, hope mum is ok and hope that you are safe. Hearing so many things about the severe rain, as I hope all our friends over the ocean are safe. Don’t worry about the tech stuff. I have a problem finding out where the letters are sometimes!!! Hugs and Purrs to you.
Instinct? You-hew! Where are you? Come out, come out, wherever you are! You’re missed today!
I was looking for him, too……..
Oh, I’m around, just busy today 🙂
I hate when work gets in the way of fun… 😆
Just “lurking” today, my friends?
Miss you!!!!!!!!! But understand. See you later!
Little tree kittens with sugar dipped ears. Cute cute cute cute.
Today’s kitties are so cute.
I seen a couple cat quotes, that are cute. I don’t know who wrote them.
“No time spent with a cat is wasted.”
“Happy is the home with at least one cat.”
I agree with both sayings.
I posted an article yesterday about animal vaccinations, but it got caught up in the spam machine, but posted sometime last night after 9pm, my time. I don’t know the source, but it is interesting….
I saw the article you posted, MerD. I googled it and found that it is attributed to a Dr. Ihor Basko who practices holistic veterinary medicine in Hawaii. He has a website but I didn’t find that particular article on it. Here it is: http://www.drbasko.com/about.htm
Afternoon all, just woke up and was reading all the typically wonderful comments here. I do have a fear though, on the nursing home kitty in the news today….I just hope that they don’t want to test him so much to prove some dumb theory, point, or whatever. The not-so-sane part of earth’s community could not possibly believe that a simple ‘cat’ could be sent here to earth to help those passing over the bridge, no they would take it that the ‘cat’ was stealing the breath or life away instead of being a comfort. I truly hope that I am wrong in this thought, but listening to some on tv this morning I don’t think I am….sigh
Sorry really wasn’t trying to bring anyone down in spirits, just expressing an opinion…everyone have a good day, enjoy your families whether they are 2 or 4 legged….
I agree with you Fluffy, let what is, be what is. I only hope that if it’s my time, I am here with my beloved cats. If not, I wish that an “Oscar” will help me pass over and comfort me as I do. What a wonderful animal, to be there to let the nurses know it’s time and to help the humans pass over the bridge. When it becomes Oscars time, I hope the same is done in return.
This gives new meaning to the term “driving under the influence”–
Report: Astronauts Drink Before Launch
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – An independent health panel studying NASA astronauts found “heavy use of alcohol” before launch, according to a published report Thursday.
Aviation Week & Space Technology, a weekly trade journal, reported the finding from the panel on its Web site. The weekly said that the committee found that on at least two occasions, astronauts were allowed to fly after flight surgeons and other astronauts warned they were so intoxicated that they posed a flight-safety risk.
The alcohol use by astronauts was within the standard 12-hour “bottle-to-throttle” rule applied to NASA flight crew members, Aviation Week reported. The panel was created following the arrest in February of former space shuttle flier Lisa Nowak, who was implicated in a love triangle
On Thursday afternoon, a media representative at Johnson Space Center in Houston said no one was answering any questions on the matter. NASA has scheduled a news conference for Friday to release the findings of a pair of reviews into astronauts’ health.
Aviation Week said the report _ ordered by NASA Administrator Michael Griffin _ does not deal directly with Nowak or mention any other astronaut by name.
Nowak is accused of attacking the girlfriend of a fellow astronaut _ her romantic rival _ with pepper spray in a parking lot at Orlando International Airport. Nowak has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted kidnapping, battery and burglary with assault.
Nowak was dismissed by NASA in March.
Following Nowak’s arrest, NASA requested an independent external committee conduct a review of health services available to astronauts. An internal assessment was also undertaken. The results of both reviews will be presented by NASA on Friday.

**ISS Computer Damaged On Purpose, NASA Say**
Equipment Meant To Go to Space Station
POSTED: 3:51 pm CDT July 26, 2007
UPDATED: 4:07 pm CDT July 26, 2007
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — A space program worker deliberately damaged a computer that is supposed to fly aboard shuttle Endeavour in less than two weeks, an act of sabotage that was caught before the equipment was loaded onto the spaceship, NASA said Thursday.
The unidentified employee, who works for a NASA subcontractor, cut wires inside the computer that is supposed to be delivered to the international space station by Endeavour, said Bill Gerstenmaier, NASA’s space operations chief.
The worker also damaged a similar computer that was not meant to fly to space.
The sabotage occurred outside Florida. Gerstenmaier did not identify the subcontractor or where the damage took place.
NASA’s inspector general office is investigating.
NASA hopes to fix the computer and launch it Aug. 7 as planned aboard Endeavour. The computer is designed for use aboard the space station, not the shuttle, and the damage would have posed no danger to either shuttle or station astronauts, Gerstenmaier said.
So very cute. Are you gonna keep any?

Welcome KittyJul….
Glad you joined us!
THE CUTEST PICTURE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
they are so cute but living in a tree isn’t a very good start to life. i hope someone rescued these little sweethearts and their mommy too. they’re breaking my heart they are so adorable!
I have to comment that they seem happy and healthy. While I do not disagree that it would be nice to find them all homes, it is an error to think that simply because a creature does not lead the life you think it should, does not make it unhappy or bad or necessarily mean that it has to be changed. Try to remember that you do not necessarily have all the answers and that the world does not have to live by your standards, and the world will be a better place.
Thank you for the adorable picture. Do you think she gave birth in the tree or moved them there?
What a cute bunch of little furballs; wish them well
Hi everyone – TDKers both online and lurking.
Hi KM
Hi Alex
What a great photo! Kitty Tree. I want one, too. As a matter of fact, I’ll take all three. What does mama look like??
MeezerMama,
Great news about your grandfather. I guess our medical geniuses CAN do something, after all.
FondaHonda,
If things don’t work out with Zippy, let me know artistabobbi AT yahoo DOT com. I don’t live that far away. Would be glad to take him. He is precious.
I was not at work yesterday, so now I have to catch up on yesterdays kitten and news.
Stay healthy, y’all.
thank you aristabobbi and really everyone here. It’s hard to explain to people that I have so many really good friends that I have never even met. I really do feel the love here though. Catherine’s article really said it all. I believe that all your prayers and positive energy have made a difference in Granddad’s condition. Thank you all so much. He’s not out of the woods yet, but at least we know what we are fighting. and it is something that can be fought. I can’t even put into words how much your prayers and well wishes mean to me.

They look like they are having a Kitty Convention – love the concerned look on the one’s face!
Can you imagine a tiny gavel in that kitten’s paw?
All precious little fur babies! May the Lord bless them and help them find loving homes. 🙂
Brandi Lee, so sorry to hear that Emma passed over the bridge. At least you know that she is doing fine over there with Chester and other friends, and will be waiting for you. You have my family’s condolences and prayers with you, take care and don’t feel guilty if you want to grieve.
I, too, share your grief, Brandi Lee. You are such a sweet and beautiful person, and there’s no doubt that Emma “reflected” that. I know there will always be a special place in your heart for her. Tears for Emma and hugs for you.
So cute!!!!!!!!!!
For those of you who might have missed it, Brandi Lee posted the following……
Kittenmaster please be sure everyone get this update……………Emma, had a rare disease, the way the vet explained it …she had tiny holes and adheasions in her intestines……….there was no saving her.
