Lucky Little Guin to have such a nice family!
It’s after 4pm – no comments – ????!
I think it’s because the UK is on British Summer Time as of yesterday…had me wondering, too.
Cuddles to Little Guin!
You just educated me, as to why the time the tdk comes does not match EDT.
beautifull how lucky little guin is to have found a great home and she a doll too thanks for saing her and giving her what she deserves her own kingdom. debbie carter dalton ga.
hello it looks like Guinevere looks like it is singing 🙂
OK, BIG smile now!
i WANT MY HUMAN MOMMIE TO CUDDLE WID ME !!!
For the beer lovers out there-
** 32 things you can do with beer**
http://men.msn.com/articlemh.aspx?cp-documentid=3872767&page=1
MMMMMMMMMMMMM…..BEER *Homer Simpson voice* 😆
Yum! That Barbeque recipe looks good!
That chicken recipe sounds good, and with the rice it makes for a great bar-b-que. You’re all invited!
My beer bread recipe is much easier, and is delicious. Make only as much as you can eat in one sitting, though, because it does not keep well.
4 cups Bisquick ( I find the “regular” works better than the “light” version)
3 Tablespoons sugar or Splenda
12 oz. beer (I prefer dark beer for this recipe. Shiner Bock is best).
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients, and stir until completely moist. Allow to rise for 10 minutes. During this time, grease either a loaf pan or (even better) a muffin tin. After rising, put batter into prepared pan (note: batter will be sticky!)
Bake in 350 degree oven for 20 minutes (muffins) or 1 hr. (loaf). Enjoy hot with butter and your favorite jelly.
I don’t have an oven! *cries and pounds desk*
Warm beer or cold beer?
Room temperature–thanks for the question! The dough won’t rise if the beer is cold, and I forgot to mention that small but important detail.
I have a kegorator full of Killians will that do?
Ginny in Cat Spring,
I do not know if you are the one that was emailing people all the recipes that accumulated on the tdk. I am interested in those recipes, but I lost the email of the person who was handling this. (too much school and work) Anyway, my email is thrdinlineATyahooDOTcom, if you are the one please email me the recipes or let me know who is doing this. Thank you for any help.
Hi Jersey Jennifer,
The cookbook you want is by MerD in CO. If you want the cookbook, email her at : TDKcookbook AT gmail dot com
Replace the AT with @ and the word dot with a period. Hope this helps.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have too much to do lately, and I would lose my head if it wasn’t attached.
Don’t forget the beer brats (as in Johnson’s sausages, not the neighbors kids)
The neighbor’s kids would be better if viewed through beer
AMEN TO THAT
My neighbors don’t have kids – yay!! While it is totally illegal to have an ‘adult only’ apartment complex, the way my complex does it is people with kids on one side of the complex, people without kids on the other side.
neighbor kids rule!!!!
As long as they do their ruling away from me.
And yes I was a kid once. A well behaved, terrified that I’d get a ‘whupping’ if I didn’t do what my parents told me to do.
I don’t see very many kids like that anymore. Most of the kids I see are rude, selfish, disrespectful and destructive.
And no, I don’t have any children. If I did, CPS would be after me.
If you remember you WERE a kid once even if it was in the stone ages
Abbie-You are right. We were once kids too. Actually I am two years older than dirt.
I have some wonderful neighborhood kids. I’m referring to the obnoxious, out-of-control, rude, disrespectful, wild banshee kids whose parents don’t take care of, watch over and/or don’t give a hoot about.
Obviously you are NOT one of those kids. Actually it would be nice to have more wonderful caring people like you in the world.
Us old folks are just joking around.
(well done)
what a cutei its adoorible i whant it
I’ve made the bbq sauce with it and washed my hair with it. With it being such a tasty drink who knew it had so many other uses?
Beer: Helping white folks dance since 426 B.C.
ROTFLMAO!!
I’m right next to you LOL
Too hilarious!!
my what a cutei and he/she looks like a tiger shes groling
god bless the cats
that’s growlingif you need help in spelling look it up in the dictionary on you web site references column ,if you don’t have one check you add items to you page site.
Thanks Instinct. I know a few male memebrs of my family who will get a kick out of it, and probably try a few. Hopefully no bathing though.
What a lucky kitty now that she has someone to love her and hold her. She’s very cute.
For those who could use and additional cat fix, the CFA International Cat Championship will be on the Game Show Network on Sunday at 7 pm. I hope they show the pet section, where the non-pedigreed house cats get to compete.
Mommy! I wanna hug!!!
Oh what a sweet little girl! She is smiling because she wants me to take her home you know. I am happy to oblige. Scoop her up, kisses and cuddles and into MY backpack she goes. I will bring her back for sharing later. My kids are anxious to play with her.
I’m next to play! Look at that face! Who could resist a little mew plead to be picked up and held and loved and wuzzled? Not me!
Oh, precious sweet little angel girl! I can’t say enough about her. I would give her kisses and hugs all the time. She reminds me so much of my Trixie.
My lap is open, she can sit on it all she wants. What a sweetie pie!
Oh Sweet Guinevere
Cuddles coming very soon
If only you were here
I would snuggle you past noon
Isn’t there a song called Guinevere by Crosby Stills & Nash? It was a pretty tune but I don’t remember the lyrics…
Guinnevere had green eyes
Like yours, mi’lady, like yours
When she’d walk down through the garden
In the morning after it rained
Peacocks wandered aimlessly
Underneath an orange tree
Why can’t she see me?
Guinnevere drew pentagrams
Like yours, mi’lady, like yours
Late at night when she thought
That no one was watching at all
On the wall
Do, do, do …
She shall be free
As she turns her gaze
Down the slope to the harbor where I lay
Anchored for a day
Guinnevere had golden hair
Like yours, mi’lady, like yours
Streaming out when we’d ride
Through the warm wind down by the bay
Yesterday
Seagulls circle endlessly
I sing in silent harmony
We shall be free
Thank you Susan. Now I remember the tune!
So my little sister had her baby…A baby girl! 7 pounds 4 ounces, fulll head of hair, born Sunday at 11:38am. Her name is Aspen and is a cutie! since i cant sneek a kitty in the hospital yet..got a few more days before i will be borrowing kitties for a few minutes

I love the name Aspen!! Very Pretty!

Congratulations Auntie Samantha and Mommy too. Aspen is a very pretty name.
Congrats! Everytime I see a little baby all I can think of is little pink kitty toes!

These people need a cat

Or Christopher Walken…. 😉
a BIG mean cat!!
Catzilla!
AAAUUUGGGHHH! Cute overload! I want to just cuddle her and make it all better……
She’s so cute – I wanna pick her up and hug her!
Kinda sad today, folks. A co-worker and friend has to say goodbye to her fuzzbut today. She’s about 14 and has a large tumor in her lung. Her mommy was able to take her home yesterday to spend one final day with her. A little prayer for Tatoo and her mommy Stephanie would be appreciated >^..^
🙁 Thoughts to Tattoo, My Dixie doodle is waiting to help her over the rainbow bridge.
That is such sad news! Little Tatoo was surely blessed to have a long life and a wonderful Mommy! Glad they got some extra time together and I’ll be sending Stephanie and her baby some strength and love!
Poor sweet Tattoo. Much love and thoughts to mommy and kitty.
My heart goes out to your co-worker. Strength and love to her…
They are both in my thoughts and prayers, and I know my Chica is waiting and ready to play with Tatoo.
Oh, that is just SO very sad…..
I am SO sorry. Hugs to Tatoo and Mommy Stephanie today!! Loving and comforting thoughts to you too. My heart is heavy for you… 🙁
Hugs and condolences to Tattoo’s Mommy!
😥
Tattoo will find many friends to play with over the rainbow bridge. My Claudua abd Madison will take care of her!
Awwww, I hurt for them! I had a horrible weekend too, so I’ll add Tatoo and herr mama to my prayers. I had to put my horse to sleep Saturday night. It was totally unexpected. I raised him, he was only 8 and thus I expected him to be with me at least another 20 years or so. I’m home today ‘cuz I’m a mess not appropiate for the office! Ah the brief and delicate lives of our animal friends!
strength and love to you as well Renee.
Prayers of comfort to you Renee.
Just awful—so sorry, Renee. I guess that’s the only drawback to loving any living being. You’ve probably seen this site–a virtual “memorial home” for your pet…
http://www.rainbowsbridge.com/hello.htm
Hi Dee,
Thanks for the link, I have seen everyone talking about the Rainbow Bridge but have never until today known where the site was….I have to say that it made me all weepy…and I hope that I have years and years until I have to put either of our furfaces on there….
Sympathies to Renee and Joan’s co-worker
So sorry Renee, that must have been very hard for you. How true, their lives quite delicate and oh so shor. Isn’t it amazing how they make a place in our hearts and snuggle in forever. We find ourselves smiling over things that happened so long ago…
Ohhh Renee…a huge hug and condolences on the loss of your horse. At least it had 8 wonderful years with you. Whiskers and the other kitties will welcome him at the Rainbow Bridge.
Thanks y’all. I had a dream last night that he was running around with his tail in the air and his head high and he was stopping here and there to eat everything in sight. I have read that if you dream of your lost animal in a happy state shortly after their passing, that this means they have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge, are happy and are trying to let you now this through your dream. God, I sure hope so.
I’m sure this is a great sign, Renee. That was his way of letting you know that he’s happy and he loves you. You gave him a wonderful life and he has nothing but great memories of you and the care you gave him. So sorry for your loss, but I’m happy to hear you have a guardian angel up there watching out for you!
Can’t you just picture your horse giving rides to kitties and dogs on his back trotting in the sun filled meadows next to the Rainbow Bridge.
I wish you were here in Ga. A family is giving away a showhorse that is a family pet but only to someone who is already set up to care for a horse. They are carefully screening and refusing to sell. Mind if we asked what happened to your baby? We all share your tears.
Tattoo’s mommy has our sympathy as well.
Not 100% certain. He did colic, but the final reason he couldn’t pull out of it….not sure. Either an ulcer that perforated (however he never showed any signs of having an ulcer) or he had twisted his intestines from rolling before feeding time when we noticed his discomfort. I never saw him roll, but he could have before we saw him that morning. 🙁
I am so sorry Renee.. prayers of comfort to you….
Oh Renee, so sorry! That’s always so sad. I send wholehearted sympathies out to you! Hope that knowing you have the support of the TDK community lessens some of the pain.
Tatoo is so lucky to have a mom that cares so much, good thoughts and energy to Stephanie and Tatoo. No more pain baby. I used to work for a vet that would wisper into the pet’s ear if he had to put one down. He would say, “Tell Pepermint hello for me.” Pepermint was his cat that passed on many years before. It always made me cry to hear him. They are in our hearts forever young.
I know from experience how horrible that situation is. Although it’s been 4+ years that I had my beloved Spanky put to sleep, I still cherish the ‘last night’ we had together. As weak as he was, he purred as I told him all night that no one else could’ve loved him like me. Although I still cry when I think of him, I can honestly say that I was really blessed to have that last night together–some people don’t get the chance to say the things to loved ones that they want before it’s too late. My condolences to Stephanie and I know Tattoo and Spanky are no longer suffering.
That is so sweet FondaHonda that your kitty could still purr on his last night with you. My Whiskers was too weak to do anything but in her last moments reach and try to hold my hand with her two paws. It has been two years for me and I still miss her from time to time.
Non-animal lovers would probably think I’m crazy, but I told Spanky (who was in the last phase of kidney failure) that he would have to show me some sign when he was ‘ready to go’ because I was afraid that I’d be selfish and keep him around and not know that he was suffering. One night, he laid down on the bathroom floor facing the corner. He had not done this in 16+ years. I still think that it was his way of letting me know that he was too weak to come into the living room with me and that he didn’t want to suffer anymore. Not only did he purr all night, he also purred in the vet’s office as I held him. He was definitely ready to go (although I wasn’t). I still think of Spanky every morning when I blow-dry my hair because he used to come running into the bathroom everytime he heard the dryer, get on his back, and roll around while I blow-dried his fur. I used to cry when I thought of that, now it brings a smile to my face thinking of all of his weird idiosyncrasies (he loved toothpaste and licking Carmex off my lips).
Purrayers of comfort to your coworker.
Prayers and hugs – I hope your friend has other cats so that they may comfort each other!
Tatoo was an only kitty. Her mommy asked me to give Shaddo and Jiggs an extra hug today…
So very sorry… Hugs to Tattoo’s mom.
Praying for you. :'(
A prayer and a big hug for Tatoo and her Mommy. That is too bad that the tumor is too large to operate on. I wish them well. Hugs and purrs.
Prayers for Tattoo
I haven’t been able to post as I used to, due to the demands of work. Today my heart is filled with sadness for all of you who have lost your dear animal companions in the last few days. Because there is so many more of us, this seems to becoming the norm lately. So, from my heart, my sympathies to those who have lost a dear one, my prayers for those who have a sick one, and my smiles for those of us who still have our babies to love at least one more day. Don’t forget those who are in pain, encourage them with faith and love day by day. Respond to those who make us laugh in times of trial (HM, Dee, Intinct, Rosie, Susan, et al) and Ivory Bill who puts the gift of words to such great use. And all the others, who if I didn’t remember your name, I remember your words. We are all one family who share everything we are comfortable sharing. At times the pain from another friend brings us to tears. That is because we care. In our minds eye, we see and recognize each other by our names here. Don’t think for one moment you can’t post how you’re feeling or if you need help with a situation. We all will help in the way we feel we can. I wish you all peace, sleep, comfort and love. Til I get back here again, stay well my friends and know that I am looking out for you and wishing you all the best.
Guinevere… you are darling!! I can just hear that tiny little mew…
I’m bettin’ that no sound came out of that precious little girl’s mouth–looks to me like a ‘silent meow’ 🙂
Guinevere of the royal court of Arthur
Draped in white velvet, silk and lace.
The rustle of her gown on the marble staircase,
Sparkles on fingers, slender and pale.
-Donovan
Such a beautiful regal kitty!
I thought of this song too! It was always one of my favorites. (I always liked Donovan’s less-than top 40 songs better than the “Sunshine Superman” variety. He had an album with songs “For Little Ones” like “Isle of Islay” and “”Widow With Shawl: A Portrait” and I played that over, and over, and over. . .The sixties were rough. School was nothing but anxiety. Think the Beatles and Donovan kept me sane!
I love Donovan. Admittedly I only own his greatest hits anthology, but when I was little (around 4 or 5) my older sister (by 16 years) was living with a drummer who used to sing Jennifer Juniper to me all the time.
So yeah, after seeing this lovely kitten, I’ve been listening to Donovan all day at work.
Little Guin is such a beautiful girl, and a talker it would seem! I realized this weekend that I’m a sucker for the tabbies!
*The MEW-sings of Lady Guinevere* Fuzz!!
Clever girl Amy Lou
Good Morning everyone!!
Hope you all have a wonderful day!! I am off work today so I can join in TDK. 🙂
Great to see you, Bumblebee!
Thanks Amy! I miss being on here during the day when I work. It is usually too late to comment by the time I get on. I was spoiled being off for a month with my back, and joining in each day! 🙂
Hey girlfriend, glad to see you posting again! Hope the job is going ok and the back is better! I’ve been posting late too, when I can, so hope you see this, my Pa buddy! hang in there and good to see you again. Think we are over the snow???
Oh my ! What a beautiful ‘lil tiger girl! Like Amy Lou, I am a sucker for the tiger kitties! Guin looks like my ‘lil Tina-toot! I think Guin might be demanding a snack if she’s anything like Tina!
AWWWWWWW!!!! I can just HEAR her little crying voice in my head just by looking at her picture! What a little love! Sweet baby!
😉
A funny for today:

“Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened” –Anonymous
I just wanted to thank everyone again for the support I received on Friday regarding my family situation. Things are smoothing over a little now, or at least are much less volatile! It’s really great to have a place to go to vent sometimes. Thanks again!
Hey, What are friends for?
Glad to hear things are smoothing out.
The best to you, it is hard when those that you love or want to love are so resistant. Hold that love and consider the sourse.
Seems to me that there’s a NEW (or is that “MEW”?) “Lady of the Lake”–Salt Lake, that is!
Lady Guinevere looks just like my Lucy!
Hold me, Mommy!
By the way, I already own this bed…
First let me say that I think this little lady needs a snuggle, she’s sooo sweet. I’m a sucker for those pathetic cries, one reason I walk around most of the weekend with a 15 lbs. tabby on my shoulder. The second thing I wanted to say was there is a contest for shelter rescued pets through the Mutts cartoon website (not techy enough to figure out how to attach said site) but they will put your rescued pet in their comic strip. I didn’t get mine from a shelter (picked them off the street) so I don’t qualify, but Lil’ Guin does and many of my TDKer friends do.
Did you hear about this?
**Now scientists create a sheep that’s 15% human**

That’s interesting and yet frightening. Those poor creatures.
It sounds worse than it probably is. Since there is only a 2% difference in the DNA of humans and chimps. Most mamals have shared genetic information.
Gone from the shelter into a home
Undergoing treatment for her ills
Intensely showing her dismay
No cuddles from Mama right now
Excruciatingly impatient for the photo shoot to end
Very much needing a hug
Excitement in the home over the new addition
Really adorable little kitten
Enchanting little Guinevere!
We’ve done rhymes and haikus, I figured it was time for an acrostic!
Someone else will have to do sonnets. It’s the one form of poetry I refuse to write! Too many rules!
Very nice Ginny.
I’m too rebellious for sonnets
The gauntlet has been thrown:
(The best I can do on such short notice)
Little Guinevere, you plead to be loved
With aching sorrow of heart
Beautiful striped coat and silver gloved
Your cry pierces like a dart.
Sick in your body as well as your soul
Your short life seems so hard
To have a loving home is your only goal
Affections never guard.
Little Guinevere, you plead to be held
Your heart so full of love
Your beauty is like a sword you weld
Aim guided by Him above.
Small and feeble, young and sweet
No strength to even roam
Pleading cries to all you meet
Will no one give a home?
Under a Utah sun, a savior claims you and declares that you are cute
To a new home you fly, not alone anymore but with two new brothers to boot!
show off…. 😉
Couplets are easy
Sonnets are hard
One is for hacks
The other for bards
Great job Rosie!!
Nice.
Sick!

OWENSBORO, Ky. – A couple are charged with trying to sell a 15-month-old girl for $3,000 and a sport-utility vehicle.
Charles G. Hope Jr., 32, and Amber M. Revlett, 26, both of Owensboro, planned to use the money to pay off his fines for previous criminal charges, said Daviess County Sheriff’s Lt. Bill Thompson. They were arrested Friday.
Thompson said it started out Wednesday as a joke between the couple and two women, but it became apparent that Hope and Revlett weren’t kidding.
“This is one of those things that worked out, and, luckily, we were able to do this before they were able to sell the child to someone who may not have contacted law enforcement,” Thompson said.
Hope told the Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer that he wasn’t trying to sell his girlfriend’s little girl.
“I love her babies, I love my babies, and people don’t have enough money to get any of my kids,” he told the newspaper.
Hope said the two women he’s accused of trying to sell the baby to were just trying to get the child for themselves.
“They said something to (Revlett) about giving us $500 for temporary custody to take her to New Mexico and I said, ‘Well, give me $3,000 and your truck,'” Hope said. “The next thing I know, I’m sitting here accused of trying to sell my kid … . I know they don’t think I’m serious, they just want her.”
Thompson said Revlett’s three children were placed in the custody of child protective services. Selling a child for adoption is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
I consider a story like this a blessing in disguise. This poor child in now in the hands of CPS. While I do not have a great deal of faith in CPS, the child now has SOME chance, which is more than NONE, the chance she had when she was living with these two scumbags!
No, the problem wasnt the parents, they were making fun of the person who asked to take custody of the kids for $500. Read the story. The father wasnt being serious, he was being sarcastic. Whats discusting is that they were put in jail. Everyone is jumping to wrong conclusions about this story.
There are some things you just don’t joke about.
**Animal psychic listens to pets**

Tattletale cats! Sounds like my house! And they lie…oh do they lie. Meow mew squaaawwwlll means Mommy! Daddy didn’t feed us yet!
Yes he did…not five minutes ago. Don’t need an animal psychic for that. Love the biting over unpleasant perfume, though!
I thought it was so funny when she said, “When I come home, they tell me all the bad things the other cats did to them.”
Okay, I know it sounds crazy, but my dog would talk to me in pictures. He would bark at me and I would just know what he wanted because a thought would just “occure” to me. My honey said I was just used to him but I knew he was trying to communicate in animal language. We only use 2% of our brains the other parts have to be used for something! I’ve tryed this with horses too and I have had them come right up to the fence and look at me even though they don’t know me. I’m telling you the images are real and now I have proof. I have never been able to read a cat though.
World’s Largest Treehouse–very cool!
http://www.saynotocrack.com/index.php/2007/03/24/alnwick-garden-home-of-the-worlds-largest-treehouse/
That’s just a house on stilts! Just cause it’s built around a couple of trees, a tree house it does not make. It has to be completely supported by a or a group of trees not just have trees around it. There was a resturant here in SA that was built around a living tree but no one claimed it was a Tree Resturant.
Ohhh, the shiny little black lips, the pink tongue, the rust-colored and salmon little nose–she’s a priceless little treasure! To be cherished, as I know she is, because you adopted her from a shelter! She’s a lucky little baby.
Awww! She’s a pretty little tiny tiger! What a set of whiskers!
🙂
Hello TDK Family.
I’ve been sick for a couple of days and I’ve missed you all.
I am back with my backpack AND a peashooter.
Come on Guin.
I have a rubber band and I know how to use it! 😎
Thanks HM for putting the pickfork away. I have a wrist rocket slingshot. Now we can fight fair 😉
Welcome back, HM!
Welcome back honey, but sorry, she is mine. I grabbed her fair and square and I’m not ready to give her back yet. My fuzzbuts just love her and she is high on catnip right now. Save your pea shooter, its no match for my katana!
I said I had a peashooter – I never said what I put in it. 🙂
LOL, you can have some nippy’s too. Does that make it all better?
Is it people nippy? lol
Nip party at debsterwiz’s place!! Woohoo!
Anytime, lot of nippy’s for everyone (All kinds, all varities). Bring your fuzzbuts, they are always welcome too!
Hey Huddy’s Mama,
Sorry you were sick. Welcome back!!
Sorry to hear you have been sick, Huddy’s Mama. Did your fuzzbutts cuddle with you to try to help you feel better?
They stayed with me all weekend. I was in so much pain I was crying – and that doesn’t happen very often. Everywhere I went they were right there. They laid down with me, they followed me around, and they were even ‘gentle’ with their reminders to feed them. lol
Poor baby! Hope you’re better now. Hpe you didn’t put poisoned darts in that peashooter. or something gross. 🙂
Poison darts is exactly was exactly what I had in mind. You must have the ESP working today.
Be carful you don’t hic cup and swollow one of your darts! Glad you are back and feeling better.
Now play nice everyone! While everyone calms down Susan steals the kitty for her new backpack! Ha Ha Ha
Cage match in a cat carrier eh? Well, I haven’t watched wrestling since high school so I guess I will have to have my boyfriend brush me up on the specs. He has created a wrestler for me on the 2007 game. So far I’m undefeated. I’d rather stick to my nippy’s if it’s all the same with you!
Glad to see you back, HM! Sounds like you had quite a tough weekend. Maybe we should let you take this precious baby to comfort you… Nah! Now that you’re strong you should have to fight Debsterwiz for it! hehe
Cage match in a cat carrier, anyone?
HELL IN A CELL!!! YEAH BABE!!!
Falls count anywhere, no DQs.
Marquess of Queensbury? Yeah, right.
No, Huddy’s Mama – 10th Wonder of the World. 🙂
Glad to see you back and hope you’re feeling 100% again. I was sick for 3 days too… and my Chloe, who isn’t much of a cuddler, was my ‘blanket’ for 2 days. Too bad she doesn’t know how to cook LOL
You gotta get her some cooking lessons. At least Huddy can open a can of soup for his mama. He STILL can’t get the hang of frying a pork chop though. Glad you are better Debby.
Thanks to everybody for their well wishes. I go to the doctor tomorrow so we’ll see what he has to say – even though I have a pretty good idea what it’ll be. And it won’t be pretty.
Debby and HM,
This reminds me of a giant orange tabby I knew as a girl. Tinker had reign over the boarding house of “Miss Buelah,” who lived next door to my grandmother. Tinker lived to the age of 20 (from my mom’s high school days almost to my own), and could do remarkable things. He could open the screen door by himself (without clawing a hole through the screen), and not only could turn on the old Philco black-and-white, but could also change the channel (what we called back then “turning the dial”). I have never known another cat half as clever as Tinker, even if he couldn’t cook.
Anyway, I thought cats preferred sashimi and steak tartare!
Is it just me, or are tabbies faster learners than non-tabbies? It took me forever to get Sebastian to play fetch, but Maverick and Hudson caught on right away.
Oh no!! Here we go again. God only knows what Huddys Mama has in her arsenal for us next!!
She looks like she is saying I want a hug not a picture!! How CUTE!!!
I love her…that face kills me with cuteness.
Hold me Fuzz
Just in case you missed this adorable pic on Yahoo–entire gallery of Knut!
http://news.yahoo.com/photos/ss/events/lf/022504polarbears/im:/070323/481/yber10203231214;_ylt=A0SOwmSa8gdGY9YALAmaK8MA
Knut is sooooo adorable. Kudos to the Berlin Zoo and Thomas for being Knut’s “mommy”.
Knut is just the most adorable little guy I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe a mama bear would refuse that face, but I’m glad he has lots of love from the people at the zoo. Looks like he’s a little ham!
What a sweet little baby. I would have trouble getting anything done at home – I would want to hold her all the time.
This one’s going to be a star. Already complaining of having her picture taken. Glad she’s doing better in her forever home. When do we get to see the brothers?
Tabbies are the best!!
All my cats are tabbies. Even Sebastian, who’s a tuxedo cat. However, if you look at him in the bright sunlight, he’s got stripes that you can’t see without the sun because his fur is so dark.
One of her brothers is Tabasco. He was featured on Feb. 11, 2007. The other one, Vedder, isn’t a kitten anymore. He’s a year old, but loves playing with the younger ones.
A sweetiepie. I’m so glad she’s in a loving home.
Is she a polydactile?
Nope. She just has big paws. She’s slowly gowing into them.
Oops. I meant GROWING into them.
Oh! I forgot to tell you guys! I have a bag I use to take my lunch and other items to work everyday and it hangs on a rod by my closet. Yesturday I was going to put some stuff to take to work and I noticed that the bag had a large bulge in it. I opened it up and found my Bug taking a nap!! He climbed up and slid inside! LOL
PS: Bug looks like he could be Guinevere’s big brother.
That is soo funny, Rosie! It’s amazing how they can squeeze themselves into the most odd places. I found my Mr. D mushed into a space about the size of a postage stamp the other day, blocking off a heating vent (it’s a wonder his fur wasn’t singed)!
That’s so cute. Every time I open my gym bag, Ferrule climbs in. He would make my workout far less efficient though.
Oh, Rosie,
That is too adorable!!
I can’t leave my laundry room door open because the dirty clothes bags are IRRESISTABLE to Linus! Doesn’t matter if they are empty or full, Linus is inside!
All of my cats sleep in the laundry basket. BUT – only if there are dirty clothes in it. I used to be sort of anal about it, but I figure the stuff is going in the wash anyway.
I still have a really grungy Nirvana T-shirt that’s gotta be older than Sebastian that is HIS security blanket. The shirt is so faded you can’t even see the writing on it, and where it was once black, ’tis now grey. But just try to take it away from him and see what THAT gets ya. lol
My Trixie is very spoiled – she only sleeps in clean clothes, preferably still warm from the dryer. Of course I oblige her.
That’s Linus’s sister Lucy–she’ll climb in the dryer even if the clothes are wet!
Good thing she’s “gata non grata” right now (for clawing hubby) and staying outside. Otherwise I have to be extremely careful when loading the dryer.
I had one, Rusty, who would lie on the clean clothes from the dryer or in the dryer itself. I always check every time now, even though he’s gone “over the bridge” for over 10 years. You never know when someone will pick up the habit.
PUT DOWN THAT BLASTER BOX AND HOLD ME NOW!!!
“K, when do I get a flashy thingy?” FUZZ!
There is nothing more irresistable than a pitiful little “mew”.
Unless it’s a big, demanding, authoritative “MEW!!!!”
**Police: Two Drunk Drivers Crash Head-On In Long Island**
POSTED: 8:27 am EDT March 26, 2007
UPDATED: 11:13 am EDT March 26, 2007
SELDEN, N.Y. — Two Long Island drivers have been arrested after crashing into each other and injuring five people.
Police said their cars were traveling in opposite directions in the same lane of traffic on North Ocean Avenue in Selden when they slammed into each other head-on.
Suffolk County police said the drivers have been charged with driving while intoxicated. One of the drivers suffered serious internal injuries and a broken thigh bone. One driver is hospitalized, and the other is in police custody awaiting arraignment.
The crash occurred about 4 a.m. Monday morning in a northbound lane of traffic on North Ocean Avenue just south of Route 25.
The cars have been impounded for safety checks. Police are looking for witnesses to the crash.
Well, I hate to say it, but I’m so glad they hit each other and not some poor unsuspecting family! I wish it worked out this way every time! Sheesh!
**Easter Advice: Five Tips for Keeping Your Critters Safe**
By Rebecca Simmons
Spring has sprung and it’s almost time for the Easter bunny to make his rounds. But before you start celebrating, check out our top five tips for keeping your pet safe and happy this holiday weekend.
1. Pass on Poisonous Plants. Some popular plants—including Easter lilies—are highly toxic to pets and can easily prove fatal if eaten. Check out the full list of toxic flora and make sure that your home and yard are free of these dangerous plants.
2. Resist Pet Purchases. Bunnies, chicks, ducks and other animals are adorable, but resist the urge to buy or adopt a pet on impulse. “People often forget that these cute little animals grow up into adult animals who require a commitment to provide daily care for the rest of their lives,” says Stephanie Shain, outreach director for the companion animals section of The HSUS. “Bringing any animal, including small animals like rabbits and chicks, into your home places demands on your time and financial resources and should be done only after carefully assessing your family’s ability to meet the animal’s needs.” For more information on why consumers shouldn’t give bunnies as Easter gifts, check out the Make Mine Chocolate campaign.
3. Ditch the Dangerous Decor. Easter basket decorations, including plastic grass, are dangerous to animals if ingested. The grass can become twisted within a pet’s intestines and can be fatal if not caught quickly enough. Often, the only solution is expensive surgery. Candy wrappers, plastic eggs and small toy parts can also pose a danger to critters. Keep your pet out of harm’s way by using tissue paper instead of plastic grass and doing a thorough clean-up after Easter celebrations.
4. Give Your Pet Some Peace. Consider your pets when planning family gatherings or parties at home. Loud noises, erratic movements from children and crowds of people can be very stressful for animals. If your pet isn’t up for the chaos of an Easter egg hunt or family dinner, put her in a quiet area of the house when guests are visiting.
5. Bag the Basket Booty. Keep your pet out of the Easter basket and away from candy, including chocolate. Candy can be harmful to pets, and chocolate is toxic to cats, dogs and ferrets. “As many pet owners know, animals will eat just about anything that they can find, including Easter treats,” says Adam Goldfarb, issues specialist for the companion animals section of The HSUS. “Chocolates and candies that are high in sugar and caffeine are especially bad for our animal companions. Every pet owner should make an effort to keep these foods out of the reach of their furry friends.” For more information, check out the full list of foods and drinks that are poisonous to pets.
Rebecca Simmons is the outreach communications coordinator for the Companion Animals section of The HSUS.
Skip the “grass” it takes up room where more chocolate could be loaded in the basket. So the critters won’t get your goodies lock yourself in a closet and munch away.
You sound like Sally Forth (in the comics). Remember how she always manages to get to the chocolate bunny before Hillary does and bites off the ears?
“The bunny, the bunny, oh, I ate the bunny.
I didn’t eat my soup or my bread, just the bunny.”
i didn’t eat my salad
i didn’t eat my steak
i had too much candy and got a tummy-ache
Who eats the ears first and who eats from the bottom up? I always leave the ears and face for last so it looks cuter longer.
Of course, you could always make your chocolaty treats out of Carob instead……
naaaawwwww
Instinct, you’d give a starving dog a rubber bone!
No, I’m not that bad 🙂
Very Cute!
Happy tears!
ASPCA SUCCESS STORY OF THE WEEK: CARIBBEAN QUEEN
While on vacation in St. Maarten, Leslie Lake and her boyfriend, Maxx, were driving down a busy road when they spotted a small dog. When they stopped to investigate, the couple was shocked at the skinny black creature in front of them. “The dog was loaded with ticks and fleas,†Leslie remembers. “She had a horrible case of mange, and she was so thin. She gave a little wag of her tail, and then it disappeared right back under her body.â€
The vet who examined the canine at St. Maarten’s Veterinary Clinic wasn’t sure she would survive. “She had tick fever, her gums were white, and she was dangerously anemic,†Leslie explains. Suffering from starvation and dehydration, the pup weighed only eight pounds.
When Leslie and Maxx returned to the clinic the next day, the dog, whom they named Minkee, was unable to stand—but her little tail was definitely wagging back and forth. Says Leslie, “We just had to take her home with us to California.â€
Now, three years later, Minkee tips the scales at 25 pounds. “She and our cat, Cul-de-Sac, are the best of friends,†Leslie boasts. “They eat out of the same bowl, play together and sleep together in the same bed.†And Minkee has also grown an unusually beautiful thick, gray coat.
“Minkee is the love of my life,†Leslie says. “She is all better, and is as happy as can be. We have been rewarded with two darling animals. We are as lucky as they are!â€
Dee,
That story is just wonderful! Awwwww…. How special that couple is. Fortunate dog too, to be loved so much.
Bless them!!!
I got this from one of my friends this morning……(I’d take her, but no girls)

I hate to have to do this, but I have to find a good home for my cat,
Maggie. If anyone knows someone who would like a great cat, please
call or e-mail me. I don’t want to bother people with too many
details, but basically my husband is allergic and now that the babies
are here he doesn’t want the poor cat around the children. Maggie
must remain an indoor cat- she has been declawed. She is the most
wonderful, sweet thing, is nine years old and healthy and needs
attention. She loves being around people and is great with children.
Please if anyone knows of a good home… I have put a couple of
photos of Maggie in our Yahoo group photos under “Lin Album”.
Thanks,

That awful time of the year is set to begin Wednesday morning: Canada’s seal hunt. We all rallied around this cause last year and with the addition of so many more TDK’ers, I’m certain this year we will generate even more “heat”! And even though the seals are losing their habitat, the Canadian Government is not lowering the seal hunt quota. Please sign this HSUS pledge. The site shows many other things we can do to help stop this barbarism!
http://www.hsus.org/protect_seals.html
Thank you, Dee. Signed and forwarded.
I gladly signed this, Dee. I have seen this done (on a television program, of course… glad I wasn’t there, I would’ve gone postal on those doing the torture!). It is the most sickening, deplorable thing I’ve ever seen and it’s what made me start standing up for the environment and wildlife in the first place. I urge anyone who cares to sign it, also, and live by it!
Isn’t this fantastic news?
**U.S. Senate Resolution Calls for End to Inhumane Canadian Seal Hunt**
By: The Humane Society of the United States
Published: Mar 24, 2007 at 08:14
With hunters heading to the Canadian ice floes as soon as next week to kill hundreds of thousands of baby seals, Senators Carl Levin (D – MI) and Susan Collins (R – ME) have introduced a resolution calling for the end to the carnage. The Humane Society of the United States applauds Sens. Levin and Collins for taking this action. The hunt, sanctioned by the Canadian government, is the largest commercial slaughter of marine mammals on the planet.
“The clubbing of baby seals cannot be defended or justified,” said Sen. Levin. “Canada should end it, just as we ended the commercial Alaska seal hunt more than 20 years ago.”
The resolution notes that more than one million seals have been killed over the past three years. In the last five years, 95 percent of the seals killed were pups between 12 days and 12 weeks of age, many of them too young to have eaten their first solid meal or taken their first swim.
“This hunt is cruel and the Canadian government’s own regulations regarding humane killing are not respected or enforced,” said John W. Grandy, senior vice president of wildlife and habitat protection for The Humane Society of the United States. “It is heartening that the U.S. Senate is speaking to the annual bloodletting.”
The resolution will be referred to the Committee on Foreign Relations, chaired by Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE) and ranking minority member Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN). Sen. Biden is an original co-sponsor.
FACTS:
* Canada’s commercial seal hunt is the world’s largest slaughter of marine mammals, with more than one million seals killed in the past three years.
* Well over 95 percent of the seals killed each year are under 3 months old.
* Hunters kill the seals for their skins, which are sold to the fashion industry in Europe and Asia. The bloody carcasses are left behind on the ice.
* The Canadian government estimates tens of thousands of seals are wounded in the course of the hunt each year, but escape beneath the water’s surface. They die slowly and their bodies are not recovered.
* The Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 bars the importation of seal products into the United States.

Little Guin is so cute! Hold me squeeze me, never let me go..now isn’t there a song that has that in it? Come on Instinct, you are good with the songs. 🙂
Another day in paradise….hoping to land some good interviews this week and wow someone into wanting hire me. Think positive. Happy Monday to all those who are at work and for those who are at home, give your give your furry buddies a hug and a kiss.
Great Dane, did you take Bob to work today? I bet he is back to his rascally ways of waking you up? He sounds so cute.

Here’s hoping for you, Karin!
Great photo, I assume that’s you with Sylvester. Good to see ya!
I sent the “puddy tat” a treat!
Yes, that is me with Sylvester. My husband took the picture. I love it when Sylvester does that.
Good luck, Karin…..
You have such a handsome boy! I would have loved to have gotten the chance to share my baby’s kittenhood, as you did! I wonder often what he looked like so tiny and fluffy! You’re a lucky mama! But my baby didn’t choose me until he was 2 and that’s just fine with me. Best of luck on the job search. I know how hard that is. My hubby went through the same thing for 2 months, which put a lot of pressure on us. But he waited through the fight and found himself in a great job with great benefits. It will happen. Like you said, stay positive.
Sylvester thanks you for the compliments. The picture of him on the scratching post was taken by his foster mommy. I got him at about 11 weeks of which the picture of him on the floor is the earliest one I took of him. I take so many pictures of him that he just poses or runs when he sees the camera. He is a real joy. Always makes sure he is near me whereever I am in the apartment (bedroom, livingroom, and yes the bathroom). He likes to sit by the sink to wait for me to get out of the shower. Then he starts to purr so loud and will do the “tip over” when I scratch his back near the tail. Just scratch his head and rub his belly and he will purr so loudly.
He’s so precious I gave him a treat.
I’m crossing my fingers and praying for a quick job solution for you.
So nice to see your smilin’ face, Karin! I sent Sylvester a treat. Positive thoughts beaming your way!!
He looks like a perfect gentleman. And look at those squishable paws! Very sweet kitty, Karin.
Thank you, Huddy’s Mama and Susan for the positive thoughts. Sylvester thanks you all for the compliments and treats. He is sitting here at my feet as type this. 🙂
hold me!
hold me!
never let me go until you’ve told me!
told me!
make me tell you I’m in love with you….
ithought i saw a puddy tat idid idid see a puddy tat ,your slyvester and my tux ,shaddow could be twins, see him thru my link on my name,it’ll take you to his brother’s page then scroll down to family and there you’ll find shaddow.
**Teen Killed at Same Spot As Friend**
By Associated Press
March 25, 2007, 1:09 PM EDT
WEST WARWICK, R.I. — A teenager was killed by a hit-and-run driver at the same spot where his 14-year-old friend had died in a car crash just hours earlier.
Andrew Coit, 18, was hit by a car after 4 a.m. Saturday as he played a guitar at a makeshift memorial to Darien Plass, 14, on West Warwick’s Main Street. Plass died after driving his mother’s minivan into a utility pole late Friday, friends of both teenagers told the Providence Journal.
“He wanted to play one last song for (Plass), and that was the last time anyone saw him. He loved singing. He died doing what he loved doing,” said Coit’s friend, Dennis Sullivan.
Plass’ friends said he had been drinking and took his mother’s minivan without her knowledge. Coit and other friends set up the memorial.
Sullivan told the newspaper the mourners remained at the memorial until about 4 a.m., but Coit stayed behind to play one more song for Plass by himself.
Minutes later, police received a call of a man down, and an ambulance crew found Coit on the sidewalk. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
“He died pretty much instantly. He did not suffer,” Alan Coit said of his son.
Police were searching for the hit-and-run driver who hit Coit, said Detective Sgt. James Tiernan.
I read this on the phone this morning. That’s so sad and ironic.
So sad. They were meant to be together in life, forever.
Lady Guinevere – I love the name and that pretty demanding fuzzling.

**Deadbeat Parents Shown On Pizza Boxes**
Child Enforcement Agency Works With Pizzerias
POSTED: 10:36 am PDT March 25, 2007
CINCINNATI — Customers at some suburban Cincinnati pizza parlors are getting something extra with their pepperoni and mushrooms.
The Butler County Child Enforcement Agency is working with three pizzerias to add wanted posters of parents accused of skipping out on child support on pizza boxes.
The idea came to the agency’s director while she was ordering a pizza. She said it suddenly dawned on her that most people running from the law don’t eat out, they order pizza.
It’s just one of the innovative ways agencies are trying to get past-due parents to pay up. In California’s Kern County, officials can auction parents’ vehicles and give the proceeds to the children. Virginia subpoenas cell-phone records from service providers.
Other Ohio counties include similar fliers in water and sewer bills. An attorney who specializes in fathers’ rights has criticized the fliers, saying it could hurt children to see their parent on a “wanted-style” poster.
With apologies to Drew Carey: “Cincy ROCKS!”
I’d love to know what chains are involved so that I could encourage the local outlets to do the same!
Milk cartons for adults FUZZ!
I agree Ginny. They owe their children support. Making the children was not a one sided deal. It takes two people to make a baby and if you didn’t think out how to take care of the child, then that is just stupid. I was the first mother in my county in 1984 to pay child support. Was I a bit mad and confused, yes. But pay I did and I don’t regret one day of that purpose. Men run and don’t care. If I had to do it then, the runners have to do it now. Male or Female. The child needs your help. They didn’t get here by themselves. I am all for finding the deadbeat dads and Moms whatever the way it may be.
Off soapbox now.
**Panda Poop To Do Double Duty In China, As Raw Material For Paper**
POSTED: 10:57 am PDT March 26, 2007
BEIJING — There’s a new Chinese saying: When life hands you panda poop, make paper.
Researchers at a giant panda reserve in southern China are looking for paper mills to process their surplus of fiber-rich panda excrement into high quality paper.
Liao Jun, a researcher at the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Base in Sichuan province, said the idea came to them after a visit to Thailand last year where they found paper made from elephant dung.
They thought panda poop would produce an even finer quality paper, he said.
The base is currently in talks with several paper mills on how to turn the droppings of Jing Jing, Ke Bi, Ya Ya and dozens of other pandas at the base into reams of office paper and rolls of wrapping paper, said Liao.
They hope to have a product line available by next year, he said.
“We are not interested in doing this for the profits but to recycle the waste,” said Liao. “It’s environmentally friendly. We can use the paper ourselves and also we can sell whatever is left over.”
The center’s 40 bamboo-fed pandas produce about 2 tons of droppings a day, but Liao said he was not sure yet how much paper would result.
What about squeamish customers who might consider the paper unsanitary?
“People won’t find it gross at all,” Liao said. “They probably won’t even be able to tell it’s from panda poop.”
The Chiang Mai Zoo in northern Thailand already sells multicolored paper made from the excrement produced by its two resident pandas. Making paper there involves a daylong process of cleaning the feces, boiling it in a soda solution, bleaching it with chlorine and drying it under the sun.
I shouldn’t even try to think of a witty comment. It would end up being a little too daring. I’ll leave that to Instinct! In reality, I think this is a great idea… I’d buy lots of packs of loose leaf pooper! Oops…I did it anyway.
Eewwww! (for the pun, not the paper! 🙂 )
Well, the New York Times could use it and then change their motto to “all the news that’s fit to poop”
Judging from what the Times has published lately, how would you distinguish the stories from the paper on which it was printed?
I’ve read some crap, but never crap printed on poop!
“This news just in…The government has found a new product on which to print…” Now you may take it from there…
When I am older and move out of my parents’ house, I will adopt animals from the shelter, too! How cute!
Cute “Dog Eat Doug” today…

**Brain Booster**
Learn the word “neurobics.†A melding of the words “neuron†(brain cell) and “aerobics,†neurobics is the brainchild of the Duke University neurobiologist Lawrence Katz and author Manning Rubin. In Keep Your Brain Alive, they outline an unusual brain exercise program that’s based on a solid foundation of neuroscience research. Specific kinds of sensory stimulation, they believe, causes brain cells to secrete molecules called neurotrophins that act like nutrients to improve cellular health.
What’s the best sort of stimulation? Katz and Rubin offer 83 activities that make you “experience the unexpected and enlist the aid of all your senses.†Try showering with your eyes closed, tuning in to the sounds and feel of water on your skin. Use your non-dominant hand to brush your teeth or comb your hair. Wear earplugs at the dinner table. Take one of your children to work with you. Learn to read Braille.
What’s important is that the activity be completely removed from your regular routine. And the more senses you engage, the better. If you normally go to work using the same route, try a different one. At a stop light, roll down the window and close your eyes, listening to the sounds, feeling the air on your face. Your brain is forced to work with a new set of sensory inputs, which builds connections in your neuronal network.
Humans are hardwired to seek novelty, yet in our tame modern environment, that’s more difficult to do. By consciously exposing your brain to novel situations, it responds like a long underused muscle to a weight training program: It grows!

I oughta go somewhere and kick HIM. I’ve got big feet and I wear steel toed boots so it would hurt. Plus I’ve got a helluva follow-through.
I’m right behind you with my oh so stylish pointy toed stilettos!
Since HM has the steel toes, how ’bout if I wear some fancy cowboy boots with the concho toes? Metal-tipped and POINTY, too!
Good deal Ginny. Make sure you have spurs, too!!
Yeah MeezerMama, get him with those pointy toes and then ground him under those spikey heels.
I think I can lay my hands on a set of telephone pole gaffs…. they’d strap to my motorcycle boots quite handily…..
I noticed they gave his home address in the article. I wonder how much hate mail he’s gonna get? Maybe a few inspired visits to his home as well I’m sure.
We can only hope, Rosie.
She’s so adorable! it’s wonderful that she has such a nice family now.
❓ What is the name of the litter for kitties who are having trouble using the box (not for us, for someone else)
There’s a wiseacre comment in here somewhere, but I can’t quite get it together?
Instinct! Where are you????
MerD–it’s called Cat Attract—and it is a miracle product!wondershttp://www.preciouscat.com/
sorry about that link…
http://preciouscat.com/
Thanks Dee, Your a doll!
I hope the solutions I am presenting work. I would hate to see a kitty go back to the shelter because of fixable issues. (I also suggested a trip to the vet to be sure the kit does not have a UTI, and the Feliway product)
cat attract works great i had an issue with a new cat that was not using the box so i got feliaway and attract acat and now he uses the box just fine ,ps. he is 5 yrs old,and should have known how to use the box but just got nervious in his new home.BTW the cat that i heard about turned out not to be mine as i sent the person an email with her pix and they said the one they found has a tail and lighter grey than mine. So my pregnant girl is still out there, but a animal medium told me she was alive but is far from home and it will take her about a week to get back home but she is trying to come back.
**Harlequin books seeks “real men” for covers**
By Jonathan Spicer
Sat Mar 24, 5:05 PM ET
TORONTO (Reuters) – Real men don’t pose for the cover of a Harlequin romance. And that’s something the publisher wants to change.
Representatives of Harlequin Enterprises, the world’s biggest publisher of romance novel series, inspected the assets of about 200 men who lined up at a Toronto casting house on Saturday to prove they could flutter readers’ hearts better than professional models.
“We’re looking for some guys that are not your usual models, but have that iconic look that women go for — sexy, sensitive, beautiful and fit,” said Harlequin spokeswoman Marleah Stout, who attended the open casting.
“We want real men … exactly what you think in your mind when you’re fantasizing or imagining that ideal man.”
Toronto-based Harlequin, a division of newspaper group Torstar Corp., sold 131 million books in 94 countries last year. It estimates that a third of American women have read at least one of its titles.
Until now, the publisher relied on modeling agencies to supply bodies for its concupiscent covers. But the readership — predominantly female and averaging 42 years of age — was upset when slight, young cover models clashed with the brawny, mature heroes described within.
“Some of the heroes are captains of industry, billionaires,” said Deborah Peterson, a Harlequin creative designer and a judge at the audition. “A lot of the models were too young, men in their twenties … and our audience likes men a little bit older, a bit bigger, than the runway models.”
At the Toronto casting, chiseled hopefuls shed their shirts and donned a cowboy hat for the panel while a handful of other judges watched on closed-circuit camera in an adjacent room.
Several were asked to return for a book cover shot, where they may earn up to C$250 ($215) an hour, according to male modeling agencies.
Others indulged their own fantasies.
“From what I understand, (Harlequin) readers are women who want to escape from the relationship that they’re in,” said auditioner Carlos Troccoli, 30, who was tall, sturdy and muscular. “I can bring that to them.”
Is that Fabio in the unemployment line?
Instinct: So, were you one of the “chiseled hopefuls”? tee hee
Not this time. I decided to let the young turks have at it 😀
WATCH OUT! Yia-yia will get you! 😀

“Excerpts from a Cat’s Diary”
Day 983 of my captivity. My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little
dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and
I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the
rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up
my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an
attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I
had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly
demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending
comments about what a “good little hunter” I am. Bastards! There was some sort
of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement
for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the
food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I
must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again
tomorrow — but at the top of the stairs. I am convinced that the other
prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges.
He is regularly released – and seems to be more than willing to return. He is
obviously retarded. The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him
communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every
move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell,
so he is safe. For now…
Lady Guinivere isn’t calling for her mama she is calling for Lancealot even tho he tends to prance – a- lot.
She is quite the cutie.
The sad comments today had me teary eyed and I lost it when someone wrote about the vet whispering say hello to Peppermint. I am so sorry for the pain you all are in with the loss of your horse and the coworkers friend having to put her cat down. It took me three years before I would open my heart again after having Domino and Taffy taken away. Petey needed a home and I am so happy to have him. He is 11 years old so I know I won’t have him for a long time but whatever the amount of time it will be worth it. Besides to is to say I won’t go first. Do you think God lets us play over at the Rainbow Bridge?
I am sure She/He does…. nothing else fits my idea of God.(dess)
I wanted to comment on the art definition that you and Instinct were talking about over the weekend…. Your canes are definitely art… I agree with Instinct entirely… I believe that there is art in everything we create…. from a meal from scratch, to refurbishing a dresser to suit our tastes ,to arranging a store window, to designing a dress, to decorating the objects that we use everyday…. I would much rather drink my coffee out of a cup that has a design or colors that appeal to me than a plain white cup… the coffee is the same, but the experience is a world apart. I think that experience would far more profound in an object like a cane…. My two cents.
I agree. Even the small act of stringing maccaroni on atring is considered art for small children who is to say that any act that uses our imagination and creativity to make something interesting if not unique is not art?
I would like to say thank you to HV and Rosie for understanding something that I have seen people who have a formal art education miss.
Art is EVERYWHERE! As HV said “a meal from scratch, to refurbishing a dresser” all that is different is what your medium and pallet is 🙂 In the end I think it is up to the individual to decide what is art in their eyes because (as always) it’s a matter of opinion.
I have a neice who thinks she wants to be an artist when she grows up. My brother (her Dad) encourages her but I remeber when I was a kid being told “That’s a nice drawing, but what do you want to do for a living when you grow up. You can’t make a living doing pretty pictures”
Heh, so nice to prove them wrong 😀
And Susan, good for you and Petey. I know you will be happy for it and so will he.
My neice is a children’s book author and just sold her first book. She has had two stories printed in Cricket magazine in the past year. Her sister-in-law said that writing is just a hobby not a career. She hurt my neice very much and this was before she sold anything now phttttt on her! I wonder if Shakespear, Hawthorne or the modern writers consider it just a nice little hobby.
What is your neice’s name and the title of the book? For kids or adults?
Hey, I’m a librarian! I can’t resist!
I’ll get back to on that…I forgot he nameof the book her name is Bethany Hegedus.
Bless you for taking Petey! I know he is so grateful to you for taking him and loving him when many others would pass him up for a younger model! You have saved a life and you will be greatly rewarded for it. Your babies who have passed to the Bridge are proud of you. 🙂
Thank you all for the kind words about art and me taking in Petey.
Does Guin remind anyone of Bailey a few months ago even down to the closed eyes and cute little baby teeth? I just want to snuggle both of them well any kitty for that matter any age, breed or sex.
**SKorean researchers clone a wolf**
Mon Mar 26, 8:02 AM ET
SEOUL (AFP) – South Korean scientists who created the world’s first cloned dog said Monday they have cloned two females of an endangered species of wolf.
A team led by Lee Byung-Chun and Shin Nam-Shik, veterinary professors at Seoul National University, said the cloned wolves were born in October 2005.
“They were the world’s first cloned wolves but we decided to disclose our achievement today,” Shin told AFP. “They are healthy and growing well.”
The latest achievement will be published in the international journal Cloning and Stem Cells, he said.
Lee’s team created the world’s first cloned dog, Snuppy, in early 2005 under the stewardship of now-disgraced cloning expert Hwang Woo-Suk. So far, the team has cloned one male and three female Afghan hounds.
“The paper lists Hwang as one of the co-authors because he was responsible for the research at the beginning,” Shin said.
Lee’s team sent a related research paper to scientific journals last year but the feat was largely dismissed after much of Hwang’s research work was proved to be bogus.
Hwang was hailed as a national hero until a university inquiry ruled that some of his work on cloning embryonic human stem cells was fake. He is now on trial for fraud, embezzlement, ethical breaches and other charges but has insisted he can still prove he created the first cloned human stem cells.
The wolf clones “may provide a breathrough in increasing the number of endangered species,” Shin said.
Like dogs, wolves are one of the most difficult animals to reproduce, he said.
The wolves, named Snuwolf (Seoul National University wolf) and Snuwolffy, were created by taking the somatic cell from a wolf bred at a zoo in southern Seoul. Fertilised eggs were then transplanted into female dogs that acted as surrogate mothers.
Guinevere is so sweet and adorable. Glad she is doing better now. Hugs to Guinevere.

I have some siblings that I’m not particularly close to, but no way would I stand by and let them die if I could do something for them.
She must be an extremely bitter woman to not want to donate to her own brother, whether they’re close or not. She’s the one who will have to live with the aftermath of guilt and shame if/when he dies. I don’t think I’d like to live like that–I feel enough guilt for things I’ve done that didn’t have a deadly affect on others!

Hello everyone I am back……….I went back and read all of your kind comments….thank you so very much……….Heres how it went:
As you all know I went thru alot to get Elija ready for travel….shots, harness, leash, paperwork ect…….When we got to the Airport he was laying on his back kicking the crate and just Yowling……..So being a good mommy I told Jack to take him home, no sense tramatizing him, my little fuzzbutt Just is not ready to travel…….I arrived in Georgia at 11:55……….woke up at 6am to go to the base……I knew when I layed eyes on him I would cry……..He is taller and so proud, but our pass was foiled, he Stress fractured his hip….and could not leave the base, so the first day I stayed on base with him …..we went to th rec center and played video games……….The second day He was let loose at 6 am so I went and liberated him, I could not help it, I took him to my hotel less than a mile from base and we watched tv ordered pizza and napped………..he told me he is being deployed to Iraq in Oct……..I have been weeping ever since………I try to tell myself all the positive stuff, but every other minute I am crying.
So when I went to drop him off, I hugged and kissed him, and tryed to not embarrass him in fron of his bunk mates… I drove off all stogic…..I cryed all the way off the base and into the night….I dont think I will ever be alright with sending my only son and last born to boot to war………Thank you thank you for your kind words.
Stay strong…. easy? no. Can I relate specifically ? No. I have an older brother who has retired from 27+ years in the military and is in his 3rd year as a civilian in Afghanistan. Although it’s not in the middle of the fighting, it’s frightening enough. I can only imagine how my mother feels.
I have 2 grown sons – 24 and 22. I lost my older one for 4 months to prison for a DUI. THAT was difficult enough.
My heart, prayers and all comforting thoughts go out to you. ANd my thanks to him and all those with him for doing what they do to keep this nation safe.
My heart goes out to you, Brandi Lee. I have an only son too, so I sympathize. Stay strong. Your son (and others in harm’s way) are in my prayers.
Brandi Lee, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Sons are never easy to let go of in any circumstance. I understand your pain. Hugs to you for comfort from a friend.
Brandi Lee I pray for all our soldiers male and female they all are someone’s son or daughter. My nephew was in the first gulf war he was a Marine and made it back. My neice’s husband was in the AF for six yers and two tours of duty over there. Now he is in the army and will probably be going back. I appreciate what they all are doing I just wish we never got into this mess. Sadamm was a bastard but are the Iraqies any better off now than they were before. At least then they had only one they had to watch out for now there are hundreds trying to kill them.
My thoughts and best wishes for your son’s safety, Brandi Lee! My brother’s on his way to Afganistan, soon, so I know some of what you’re going through.
Thank you all, you have been so kind……..Its true I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE…… I also have nephew inlaws in Iraq, My poor niece at 25 is raising 6 kids on her own so she moved in with my parents………I found out this weekend how these kids live for mail, that they are scared as hell, and that they need all of us………I will find addresses so if anyone is interested they can send mail to soldiers that are deployed…..this is my new mission…
Oh, Brandi… my heart goes out to you…. I can’t begin to imagine what you are feeling… but hugs to you from another mom of a grown son..I will remember both of you in my prayers.
continue to take good care of her! She is adorable. I am sure has fun playing with the other cats

**Long-term aspirin use lowers women’s mortality**
27 minutes ago
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) – The long-term use of aspirin, at low to moderate doses, appears to reduce all causes of mortality in women, especially in older women and those with cardiovascular risk factors, according to the results of a new study. This is primarily due to a reduction in death from cardiovascular disease.
However, an accompanying editorial questions this finding and suggests that, on the basis of previous study findings, women without a history of cardiovascular disease should not start taking aspirin to prevent death.
Previous reports have indicated that aspirin use can lower the risk of heart disease and certain types of cancer, which are major contributors to mortality in women. However, it is unclear if long-term aspirin use is actually associated with a reduced risk of mortality from all causes.
To investigate, Dr. Andrew T. Chan, from Harvard Medical School in Boston, and colleagues analyzed data from 79,439 women who were enrolled in the Nurses’ Health Study. All of the women were cancer- and heart disease-free when the investigation began.
Over 24 years, 9,477 of the women died, the researchers report in the Archives of Internal Medicine. Current aspirin use was associated with a 25-percent reduced risk of mortality from any cause, compared with never using aspirin regularly.
In terms of specific causes of death, aspirin use was linked to a 38-percent reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease and a 12-percent reduced risk of death due to cancer. The use of aspirin for 1 to 5 years seemed to provide protection against cardiovascular disease, whereas at least 10 years of use was required to prevent malignancy.
As noted, the survival benefits of long-term aspirin were most apparent in older women and in those with multiple cardiac risk factors.
In a related editorial, Dr. John A. Baron, from Dartmouth Medical School in Lebanon, New Hampshire, comments that the new findings “for cardiovascular mortality are provocative, contrasting sharply with the pattern seen in primary prevention trials.”
He also notes that the observational nature of the study “may not have been able to deal with the differences between aspirin users and nonusers.”
Therefore, he concludes that the study findings “cannot overcome the accumulated evidence that aspirin is not particularly effective” in preventing a death from a first-time cardiovascular event, such as a heart attack.

I couldn’t help posting a second day. This baby is just too cute!
Looking at this precious face reminds me of my little monster. My Sassy (named appropriately) looks just like Guinevere. When we got her she meowed, and meowed. Then she hid under our desk for two days. Well. that was nearly 5 years ago and she still meows like she did the first day we got her. I have never had such a talkative little kitty. (She always has to have the last word) Sassy is such a joy and I wish you the same for your sweet kitty.
