Be ver-wee ver-wee quiet. I’m huntin’ a puddy-tat… So cute!
http://www.catster.com/cats/487232 I just posted my Charlie on catster. one down, three to go!
Your Charlie is a beeeaaauuuu-tiful boy! Look out for a friend invite from my boys!!
Wow! He is gorgeous and so beautifully colored. I don’t think I have ever seen that color before.
what a cutie they are so cute when they sleep have you ever watched them and see how they shake their paws and some times they make little sounds makes me wonder what they are dreaming of chasing a moude or who knows what lol
Tricksey is tortietabby and white. Tortietabby (like tortoiseshell) very rarely comes in ‘boy’ which means that it’s odds-on that this pretty kitty is a girl.
awwww Trickey you are so beautiful :-))))
Tiger, Charlie is lovely, i left him a treat
What a handsome boy Charlie is! I left him a treat.
We just invited you to be our friend, too. Pretty soon, you might see Moxie’s baby on here!!
is moxie on catster?
Very handsome lad, but the fork is hilarious……
Charlie is gorgeous. Someday I will have the time to put Scratch and Tiger up on Catster.
How sweet! I left him a treat!
Charlie is beautiful! And what huge FB’s he has!
Hi! I just sent Charlie a gift on catster–what a cutie!
Tiger, I just sent your kitty an invite to be friends with Sylvester. Your kitty looks similar to my former cat Whiskers (over the Rainbow Bridge 1/28/05 and hoping to see her wehn it is my time to go to the other side).
Charlie is soooo cute! I’ve sent a friendship invite from my boys.
Love Charlie too — my girls sent him an invite as well!
Thank you all for the treats and friendships!!!
Hi Tiger,Charlie is So handsome, expect an invite from my bunch. 😀
Ok snorgable indeed!
What a doll baby 🙂
Good morning Brandi Lee!!
How much snow/ice did you get? We got about 4″ and just a bit of freezing rain last night. NO threat to the electric!
Are you boo boos all better now?
Much better bumblebee thanks for asking, there is about 4 inches here also………Made the hubby shovel this time … 🙂
Sweet Lulla Bye Baby Fuzzy Butt! Happy Monday…..Rene in AR, are y’all alright? And those of you in the frozen tundra??? I hope y’all are well and warm. Rock on tf
It was about -25 °C (-13 F) during last weekend. No records were made, but it was cold enough for me. Today was a beautiful winter day, -10 °C (14 F). The sun was shining, the birds were singing…
It will take a long time before the first signs of spring show up. *deep sigh*
Would y’all hate me if I told you that in the hinterlands west of Houston it is 79 degrees at 2:15 and there’s hardly a cloud in the sky?
I was afraid of that. *sneaks into Lynn’s backpack to do penance in the frozen tundra while Huddy’s Mama grabs Tricksey*
😉 *Pppbbffttttt* – Two more months to the first flowers, two more months with snow and ice … 😥
Tinafish
Thanks for asking about me. We are ok. It stormed here early Saturday, about 10:30am. It looked weird, as I looked out into our pasture, there was a white thick mist, then it started to rain. I heard a roar but I seen no tornado. The storm passed in a hurry, less than an hour. I think the tornado hit Southeastern AR. I live in western AR, below Ft. Smith. It is 62 today and sunny. Last week was so nice and warm for a change. How was your weather?
Hey Renee in Arkansas,
We had freaky weather on Saturday, terrible wind and rain, but it blew here pretty fast. I saw on this news this morning that Dumas AR was hit very hard and was not sure of your locale. Glad y’all are ok and safe. Today we are in the mid 60’s, my tulips are blooming, and the sky is beautiful blue. Take care
ciao for now
tinafish
Tinafish,
I did find out this evening that there was a tornado just north of Branch, on Saturday. That may have been the roar I heard, a tornado passing overhead. My daffodils and lilacs are blooming, also. The grass is trying to grow, at this rate, I’ll need to mow soon!
The wind blew so hard Saturday nite, about 45mph, out of the north. Such a biting cold wind. The wind started out of the west. Glad you are having better weather now. It is usually nice after a storm for a little while. We are expecting another front Wed. nite, will cool off into the 50’s and warm up by Monday. Take care.
Oh dear you are all stressing me out with talk of beautiful weather. My younger brother has a cat and one of them is staying with us. I will have to pet her to reduce my stress. Hmmm, Maybe I can also steal a kitten for a little while.
LOVE THIS ONE, SO CUTE!!WHY IS IT ALLWAYS KITTENMASTER?? wILL THE PIC I sUBMITTED THREE WEEKS AGO GET POSTED?? lOVE THIS SITE I CHECK IT FATHFULLY EVERY DAY, THANK YOU DAILY KITTEN!
We show just 365 kitten pictures every year, but we receive hundreds every week – so only the very best pictures are chosen.
Uh-oh, I’m concerned that some of the prospective kittens will be driven to eating disorders with the fierce competition!
‘…and back to the local news. Kitten riots at the Daily Kitten Headquarters are about to escalate to full scale cat fights…’
Hi Miu,
That’s a good one! I guess it is early morning or about lunch time in your neck of the woods, right now. It is about 5:35am, here. Sorry to hear it has been so cold there, lately.
if you want to show off your beautiful cat go to catster.com and make a profile for you cat alot of us here have done this. then we can see you cat
So Tiny! So beautiful!!!
awww long hair baby fuzz, sleeping so inocently….. for now,…….. i’m sure she is ornery when playing
**~~Rugrat FuzZ~~**
What a sweet looking baby. I could definitely snuggle with this little one. They are very sweet sleepers, but I bet this little cutey is a frisky one when awake.
“Sleep in heavenly peace,
Sleep in heavenly peace”!
But when I wake up, it’s “Katie, bar the door”!
“Them hobbits is Tricksey” FUZZ!
Such a beautiful sweet face. She is so tiny she could be a fuzzball dropped on the carpet.
Have a good Monday everyone!
“Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, NAH, nah
Today is my birthday!”
Even a cheery Beatles song can’t change the fact that I will be very late at work tonight making the deadline for report cards. Wah! 🙁 At least I got to celebrate yesterday.
Just give them all F+ and then laugh your evil laugh 😀
Happy Birthday to You, Happy Birthday to You….
HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU…….Just give them all A’s and be done with it. 🙂
Good Monday morning all!!
Happy Birthday Ginny!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Hated to hear about all the storms out there….thought about y’all!
PPearson, how are ya today??? I’m happy to report the wallpaper war in my kitchen has been won! Victory Yippeeee! Now to the spackling and priming and paint! Lord, I cannot wait to be done! My baby Biscuit was crying most of the afternoon yesterday, which is odd for him, then he came up to me wanting to be picked up, poor little guy, had wallpaper stuck to his toes!
Hey Leanne, Congrats on winning the Wallpaper War! My pink and white wallpaper is no more! I was lucky most of it stripped off easily. We got two coats of grey primer up and then I got sick on Sunday so that is as far as we have gotten. Hopefully some Cranberry Cocktail will be going up soon!
I hope biscuit is over his trauma, poor baby. My kits had a grand old time playing with the drop cloth last night. This morning it was all scrunched to one side of the room!
Hope you are feeling better today! I ended up having to peel over the cabinets…ugh! That alone took all day yesterday. I was hoping to to just prime the paper and paint over it, but it wasn’t pretty up there! I did spackle last night so I’ll be sanding tonight and hope to start priming too. I’m ready for my Barn red to go up too!! I ordered these really cool looking pull knobs from Tender Hearts. Cast iron with an antique look to them and very decently priced too!
Biscuit wasn’t even doing the “something on my paws” dance. He just walked right up to me and wanted that stuff off his feets! He’s such a mess!
LOL!
Well I have painted the living room, ripped up the carpet, an replaced the curtain rod. I have one more coat to do on the projector screen. (it’s painted on the wall). I bought fabric for the theater curtains, throw pillows, and club chair. The new receiver should arrive tomorrow. The new projector is mounted to the ceiling. It’s not done yet, but it was close enough to have people over and show a movie on Saturday. I’m never going to the movie theater again. They don’t have fried chicken and beer 🙂
Hey MeezerMama, what time does the movie start? Movie party at your house. 😀
Wow! Count me in. Movie tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!!
Me too! Sounds really nice when it’s done! Good luck!
Happy Birthday, Ginny! Hope you won’t have to stay too late at work. Glad you got to celebrate yesterday!
Home improvement stories are a trip. Wishing you all a beautiful outcome.
**Releases Tippin from backpack, kisses him goodbye and sends him home to momma. Picks up Tricksey, gives him snuggles and drops him carefully into backpack to snuggle with later!**
Hippo Birdie 2 Ewe
Hippo Birdie 2 Ewe
Hippo Birdy from me, too, Ginny. My cat is named Ginny, too. (She was catnapped and when the judge ordered her returned I thought, “Yes, Virginia, there IS a Santa Claus!” and she became Virginia (Ginny Gin) ever since .)
Give all your kids A’s who wish you happy birthday!
Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy bIRTHdaayy, to youuuuu, Happy Birthday to you….
*cats coming up, biting catrancher’s ankles for making screechy noises* HAPPY B-Day, Ginny!
CatRancher–yours do that too???? I thought I was the only one who sang badly enough to get her ankles chewed….
Ginny–I’d sing, but the cats would bite my ankles…happy birthday, anyway!!!
Yep, Gladys, if I whistle or sing…they come running in and are VERY annoyed…they’d bite my nose if I let them! My one cat, Mary (now deceased), used to go bonkers and if I was standing in the room, she’d grab my leg and bite (not hard)…and meow at me…so funny! (Doesn’t say much for my singing, I guess, lol)
Happy Birthday, Ginny! After work go home and cuddle your kitties, that will give you a great birthday! My birthday will also be on a Monday this year. I think I may just take a vacation day from work… Monday birthdays… yuck! Have a great one anyway!
Snappy Nurfday, Ginny!!
Happy Birthday Ginny! Give them all B’s and that should make them all happy. Anyone who wanted an A can wait.
Happy Birthday Ginny 🙂
Hau’oli la hanau ! Ever hear that when you lived in Hawai’i ??
Naw, I was surrounded by other haoles on base.
Happy, Happy, Ginny!
Have a wonderful happy birthday!
Thanks, folks! Yet again, you’ve made my day! 8-D
Many birthday blessings Ginny…. Have a happy happy birthday!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GINNY!
Hope you have a PURR-FECT ONE! lol
🙂
Happy B-Day!!!
PS. Where is the cake?
I forgot about the cake! I guess I can bring a refrigerator cake today. What flavor would you like, Ginny?
Since Miu asked, where is the cake. I’m sure everyone would like a piece.
I guess I’ll bring the champagne – or do we make it Bailey’s?
Mimosas and red velvet cake for all!!!
(Are there people treats on Catster?)
all I can say is “AAAWWWWWW!” How preciously sweet.
This kitty is a little sleeping angel. Beautiful color!! Awwwww….
To Elaine:
So sorry, I was away all weekend without internet, so I didn’t see the posts where you asked those of us on Catster to repost our kitties’ profiles. My Sammy and Teddy are located here: This one is a link to Teddy. Sammy is available through his profile.
http://www.catster.com/cats/483666
Teddy & Sampson R adorable i luv pic of them “hugging”
You’re cats are soooo cute!!!! That’s great that they get along so well! I teared up reading thier bios and how you got them. good for you to take home 2 kitties and make your trip eventful!
Beautiful!
These guys are SOOO cute! I was inspired by your story that you drove all that way to rescue cats. I also did a cat rescue a while back, three little girl cats that had been literally dumped, in a plastic bag, on one of my friends (who is a dog person and totally flummoxed when faced with kittens; by the time she called me to help her, she was in tears).
I am so happy that you rescued Sampson; it sounds like he was karmically due for some good fortune. Bless you and your husband for taking him and his brother.
All you that rescue cats are soooo good! In my city a few months ago we had a case where a mama cat was found carrying a plastic grocery bag that had been tied shut. Turned out her kittens were in the bag, and she was trying to save them. The Humane Society rescued them, and there was a happy ending, but good grief some people are cruel!
I can’t even imagine what goes through a person’s mind! It’s scary that there are people with such black hearts that they don’t even feel a little pain for the things they do. That poor little mama kitty that was so scared, not knowing how to save her little babies. I’m so glad that so many stories end happily, but it breaks my heart to think about the number of them that don’t and have such tragic consequences. I wish I could save them all!!!
Same here Amy Lou. The feelings are mutual.
Oh no… THAT is so sad!!!! sniff sniff…..
oh gawd, I just burst into tears at this story. That poor mama. So glad they were rescued.
That’s just awful! It is so cruel and cowardly! I so wish I could stop people from doing things like that.
Beautiful kitty’s, Amy Lou! Love the snuggle shots! Kisses and hugs to your babies!
Your guys are so sweet and adorable. I love the diary entries so funny.
Lots of love to this little sweetie
Soooo precious. Dreaming of angels.
Good Morning everyone. Hope this is going to be a good week for all TDKers and their loved ones (human & feline & canine).
Little fluffster… 🙂
What a great Monday – I get my kitten fix first thing – what a little beauty – she reminds me of my Sophie – lobts of mixed color and cute tufts from the ears. A good week to all you cat lovers !!!
So sweet. I have had dust bunnies bigger than her shows you how bad I am at cleaning. As someone said I don’t mind if they write their name in the dust on the tables just don’t date it.
Happy Monday to everyone and Happy Tuesday to the ones down under.
Sleeping beauty fuzzbutt! Can’t get much sweeter than that! Just want to curl up next to her!!
Tricksey is All Fluff. Her ears are delicious, she looks like a cross between a kitty cat and a lynx. Very very gentle kisses to the candy pink nose. *smack*
Sweet kitty dreams little Tricksey! How precious! zKisses and snorgles!
“zzzzzzzzzzzzz-FuzZ”
Great snap in macro mode !
Sweet dreams are made of these
Who am I do disagree?
Beautiful fuzzbutt… so tiny, so sweet
Weather update from Iowa: Big Ice Storm on Saturday, trees down, over 100,000 without power….still 10’s of thousands without power today. I was the only one of my family and friends in the metro area and rural areas who didn’t lose power. We have a wood-burning stove in the family room so we would’ve been ok, but they stuck it out at home for the most part. Most have power today….NASTY storm. I hate the freezing rain — it coated everything with up to an INCH of ice!
Please be careful out there!
Thanks LeeAnne….the temps are above freezing, so most ice has melted…now there is worry about local flooding from ice jams on the area rivers and creeks…it’s always something around here. I do not live in an area where this is a threat, but I am SICK of it. Meanwhile, I will live vicariously through my TDK friends who live in warmer clients…ahhh…Florida/California/Georgia/Arizona/New Mexico!
It’s starting to warm up nicely, finally(I’m in the Jacksonville area)!! But we need some rain something bad……the pollen is pretty bad right now too, as I sneeze my way to work in the morning!! I should buy stock in Kleenex!!
We should plan a TDK cruise! OOOOOH! Wouldn’t that be fantastic?!?!?!
Sign me up!!!! Can we bring one or two fuzzbutts with us?
CatRancher: Are you home today? Ice storms are so beautiful, but so dangerous!
Nope! I’m at work. The ice storm started early Saturday morning with freezing rains, then sleet, then snow. We had thunder snow with sharp cracks of thunder and vivid lightning flashes, too…so cool reflecting off the falling snow. But the winds were gusts up to 50 mph, so that snapped tree branches and wires! By midnight the temperature was up over freezing so a lot of the ice melted during the overnight hours. This morning the side streets and major roadways had iced over again, so it was treacherous. We may get another major storm this Wednesday with rain/snow. It was beautiful, but not if you had to be out in it. I just looked out my picture window and watched the branches fall from the tree across the street. No was out and about much on Saturday…except the power company crews!
Will think warm thoughts for you CatRancher. Be careful if you have to go outside. I saw a movie called the Ice Storm and one the events in the movie is that a huge ice storm happens, kid is sitting on a guard rail just looking around at the beauty of it all and the powerline goes down and hits the guard rail zapping the kid and killing him. Horrible part of the movie but makes you think that something so beautiful can also be deadly.
There was a news spot on Saturday of an interview with power company workers at work…I think it was shot in Des Moines, IA…anyway, as they were interviewing this guy on the street….there was a large boom and you could see the flash on the utility pole above his head. The camera man followed it as it arced along the wires above the street until it hit a transformer…WOW…. we saw a fireman run across the street when he saw it arcing toward the transformer and DIVE into a snow drift, terrified. It was something to see, but make you appreciate the men and women who go out DURING the storm and risk life and limb to get power back on and block streets with down trees and hot wires.. In near blizzard conditions to boot! I don’t envy them their jobs, but appreciate their dedication and long, grueling hours. So many people without power piled in the car and were out sightseeing after the storm let up a bit… dumb a**es… They even closed part of Interstate 80 because of downed power lines and begged people to stay home and out of the way of harm. I complied….I’m a chicken. I just wish I would’ve worn my golf shoes to work today to navigate across the icy downtown streets and walkways….I could’ve easily ended up with a hurt back like so many of my fellow TDKer’s!
OMG! What a frightening story! They absolutely risk life and limb to get our power back on…
Scary story, CatRancher! yes, golf shoes, baseball shoes, just about any shoe with spikes would help you navigate the icy streets. Some people are sure idiots when they think of going out and looking at things. I can recall when we had flooding one year when I lived in Marin County and neighbors went to go look at the local creek to see if it was flooding. Now why would anyone need to do that is beyond me since I wouldn’t want to be near the flooding at all. Let the news people do that..they get paid the big bucks for that.
CR- where are you in Iowa? My mom is in West Branch, works @ UI.
T
I live in Bettendorf and work in Davenport, Thomas, “the Quad Cities” so only about an hour from West Branch! Geez, that’s practically neighbors!
56 miles to be exact.
T
Was thinking of you Cat rancher and all our other friends in the Mid west with the storm. Glad to hear you are ok and hope your family is alright too. Here in the northest the storm fell apart and we only got in Southeast Pa about 3 inches of snow and ice. Definetly not the 4-8 they called for. Last night had ice all over everything. Didn’t lose power, didn’t get out of work either!!! Glad that you are ok Bumblebee and Brandi Lee. Hope everyone else made out ok. Is there anyone who came close to the tornado’s over the weekend? If you are, hope you are well also.
Where’s spring??????!!!!!!!!
Question for all of you dealing with ice and snow storms. If your company calls and tells you not to come into work, do you end up getting a paid holiday or do they make you a take vacation day?
It depends on the company, Karin. Some (like my last job) will make you take vacation if you have it. If not, you lose your time. Since where I work at now I am paid salary, I get paid whether I am in the building or not. I have the greatest boss, we are a small company (only 5 of us), so I have it better than most. We can even go to dr appointments, Wal-Mart, bank or whatever if we are not real busy! I am lucky! Good question, thanks for asking!
Oh Lynn,
That is wonderful to hear! I am SO happy for you to have such an awsome job!! 🙂 Glad there are still jobs like that out there.
Yes, I am definetly the lucky one! They are few and far between and since I am no “spring chicken”, I am very blessed!
My company is great about days off. It’s just called an office closing and we are paid…but then we also have 4 weeks vacation, plentiful paid holidays, and unlimited sick days…we can also work from home by remote desktop if we need to. Our company was voted “Mother Friendly” by one of the top women’s magazines and new Dads or those adopting a child get paid leave, too. I am sooo lucky to work for this company..HOWEVER, I have PAID my dues working many years at other companies, the last of which offered a measly 1 week vacation (GET REAL!) and out of the 1 week came time for doctor’s appts. and family events, etc., all while working mandatory (unpaid) overtime, often 60 hour weeks! I know what it’s like to have children at home, take classes at night, and work 10 hours days 6 days a week, and then get a “warning” because I took more than 3 sick days in a year. I finally did say “take this job and shove it” to that one…after a divorce, a teenager who needed one-on-one parenting (if you know what I mean), and shingles and other various health problems — all stress related. It gets me furious when companies literally “destroy” the home lives and health of their employees ….but don’t get me started!
Glad you changed jobs CatRancher, with all you’ve been through…. I am so hally to hear you have such a nice job now! 🙂
I only get one paid week off, as well. 5 days off annually for vacation, sick or personal time off! It stinks!
CatRancher, can your company use an Executive Assistant or Office Administrative type? I am about sick of this temporary assignment where they have been dangling the proverbial carrot (permanent employment) for the last four weeks. I mentioned to my husband how I need space and really love the opportunity to work from home 2-3 days a week.
Cat Rancher, also glad you changed jobs and things are working out. I see so many of us posting things, due to weather, health issues, jobs. I welcome the inter-connection we all have for one another. One question leads to another and another. I hope we never lose this. We feel bad, cry like babies, mourn for each other and genuinely care for each other. Yet, we know each other through words on a computer. We love, care and check in on our favorites, whomever they may be, welcome newcomers and make them feel comfortable. We disagree, post recipes, check the weather across the country and the world and still we are a loving group. I am not computer savvy, don’t hit chat rooms on other groups, but have found this one. Thanks to the Kittenmaster, I have a bunch of new friends and you all have no idea what that means to me. I know others feel the same and we shall stay that way. Ok, went a little overboard here. Sorry! For those of you who have health issues, I wish you a complete and speedy recovery. For those of you who have job issues, I wish you strength to find something you adore doing and can financially do so. For those who can’t do all these things, I wish you strength and peace. And know that we are here for you, no matter your problem. Talking is a cure. Never stop talking. Someone is always listening. Ok sorry for the over the top. Just wanted to get it off my chest. And thanks to all who have helped, even though you didn’t know you did.
Beautifully said Lynn,
You have such a BIG heart, and you are a big blessing to us as well! A real sweetheart…..
Thanks and hugs to you!
Thanks so much Lynn for saying what I feel too.I’m glad we check on each other and have this connection. I value it too, very much.
Thank you, Lynn, for putting it all in words. 🙂
Lynn, so very well said. I don’t think you went over the top, I think you spoke the truth for all of us. We have all found a community that shines bright.
Check with the large rodent who did the predictions!
isn’t she adorable…..so sweet……..I just want to cuddle up next to her!
Awwww….sleepy time fuzz. She has a smile on her face. *Drops sleeping Tricksey in the backpack*
Hi Huddy’s Mama! I see by the time stamp you got Tricksey before me! But if you have Tricksey, who is in my backpack???
I didn’t see it. Maybe you have an imposter!! lol
But it sure is a cute imposter!!!
Since the kitty’s name is Tricksey, there could be something tricksy going on, doncha think? Anybody who thinks they’ve got Tricksey in their backpack better check the nametag on the kitty’s fur coat.
Love the colors on this furry baby. Brown, orange and white flecks. Such cool colorings. Nothing like a napping kitty especially when you can see them fall asleep.
Okay it is Monday and I already and ready for Friday. I definitely need a nice two week vacation in Hawaii. Hubby and I were discussing it last night. Has to wait till I land a permanent job and his mortgage business takes off.
I know the feeling…..Carribean sounds like a plan too mon!! Where’s the rum???? Hang in there Karin!!
Hey LeeAnne, we were also thinking Aruba, Mexico, Tahiti, Jamaica, just somewhere nice and warm. Love maitai’s…yummy.
I’ll be happy to just be out your way at the end of March for a conference in Long Beach. I’m then going to Sacramento (Granite Bay) for 3 days to visit my sister and her husband… even 60’s with sunshine would feel good to me!
Hey CatRancher, I hear Granite Bay is quite beautiful. You should enjoy yourself. Right now we are having rainy weather with temperatures around low to mid 50’s. Long Beach should be a nice balmy 60-70 degrees even this time of year.
CatRancher: I actually live in Long Beach, and I think you will be well pleased by your visit here. I am assuming you will be at the Convention Center for your conference; I’ll be right up the road at the Long Beach Courthouse! There are great places to eat around here – I will probably pass by you at the California Pizza Kitchen.
The weather here is always pleasant (none of the overwhelming smog problems like there are inland), and there is the Queen Mary to visit during all your down time. But seriously, I think it will be a pleasant break from inclement weather, and some great shopping!
Closs, Karin, but it goes like this:
“Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take you
To Bermuda, Bahama, come on Huddy’s Mama,
Key Largo, Montego….”
Beach Boys…that’s what I started singing after reading her comment….wish I was a BEACH girl right about now!
Ginny, that’s a good one. You guys would be the backpacketeers!
Great, as long as I don’t have to wear ears made of rip-stop nylon!
Funny Ginny, I was just thinking of that Beach Boys song after I posted my reply. 😉
I feel you! I am already thinking about Saturday! I could easily turn into a lazy beach bum…
I agree, life is better on the BEACH!! I go camping alot on the beach, St Augustine area. BEAUTIFUL!! Can’t wait for my season to start. I bring my 16 yr old tuxedo with me. He enjoys the break from the 2 brats! My trvl trailer is not big enough for all 4 of us. I’d have to sleep in my truck!! ha ha
My tuxedo, Sylvester freaks out if I take him down to the car just for a short ride around the neighborhood. He does not like car rides.
Hawai’i is my favorite place… if I could afford it, I’d live there. For now, a week long trip in June will have to suffice.
Ahhhh, the tranquility….
Tranquil sleep in the Sunshine FuZzzz
i don’t see anyone “backpacking” today, so i will !!! tricksey, here is a nice warm place smelling of catnip !!! 🙂
I just want to kiss Tricksey’s pretty little face. (Gently, so that I don’t wake the baby).
What a sweet lil’ angel! Love the “ear whiskers!”
So sweet and peaceful looking! Wish I could sleep like that.
Why is it when they are asleep they look the sweetest? Bet I’m dreaming bout all the things I can get into when I’m awake.
AWWWW! She looks so serene… but I’m sure she’s planning her next round of mischief in her dreams. 🙂
Tricksey is adorable….just what I need on the dark, wet Monday. All that are in the cold and snow… please take care and stay warm!!!
Pretty kitty!
Here is a nice hot drink for all the TDK’ers stuck in the snow:
Irish Coffee:
Ingredients
one pub measure Whiskey
Sugar 2 teaspoons
Coffee 1 tea spoon
whipped full fat cream
Method:
warm a heat proof glass with boiling water
add coffee, sugar and whiskey & top up with boiling water 3/4 full and stir well.
heat teaspoon and pour cream over the back of it into the glass, it should settle on the top.
very fattening but sinfully good.
another alternative is to use Baileys (im not sure if thats available stateside- i hope so coz its equally mmmmm 🙂
Thanks, Fiona! We have Baileys Irish Creme stateside. There’s a large Irish-American population in the area I live…so plenty of Irish pubs, too! If I were at home (working, now) I would fix myself one now… (what?…it’s almost 12 noon here!)
lol! u’d be ok to have just one! it would take a few to get drunk! its almost 17.30 here now so my day is over justabout. i’ll be going home to my fuzzbutts
OOoooooh, LOVE Irish Coffe – with Bailey’s! Wish I was going home now. Loooong day!
YUMMMM….Irish Coffee with Bailey’s is to die for 🙂 and according to Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffet ….IT’s 5:00 somewhere….. 🙂
Tricksey is a beautiful little girl, looks almost like our Lady cept her fur is longer…same coloring though
I have heard Irish Coffee referred to as “God’s Blessing” It is one of my favorites (Extra cream please) When you say 1 teaspoon of coffee are you meaning instant coffee grains? When I make mine, I use a cup of fresh brewed coffee.
I should own stock in Bailey’s. It’s good stuff. Too bad it never gets cold enough long enough for me to really enjoy it.
What? It doesn’t have to be cold to enjoy Bailey’s! I’m in South Florida and have Bailey’s at least once a week.
Exactly !! Bailey’s on ice …. yum!
Bailey’s on ice cream!! A fabulous sundae is dulce de leche ice cream, with homemade hot fudge and Bailey’s poured over it.
Oh, man, I’ve gotta try that!
I put it in my coffee. If it’s too warm out the firewater gets me in ways that are most unattractive, as witnessed the time I decided to get on the 101 Freeway and direct traffic at 3 in the morning. Ahhhh, wasted youth.
So it’s gotta be cold cold outside for me to drink it. It’s a little too sweet for me to just drink by itself.
That would have been something to watch! Oh, what we have done in our youth!!! The stories we could tell!!
I always say…my youth was not “wasted”…. but I was! Anyway…it makes for good stories that you CAN NEVER tell your grandkids, or your co-workers, or your Mother, or your clergyman, or your first husband, or your second husband, or your DAUGHTER (unless your friends blab), or your hair-stylist, or your card club, et cetera! What doesn’t kill us….makes us wiser, yes? I would love to hear your stories!
I’m with you on that one!!!!! 😆
I hear you, Girfriend!!!!!!!!!!!! Wouldn’t want much of my past to get out!!!!!!!!!!! I like the magnet I have on my Fridge.
Seen it all
Done it all
Don’t remember most of it!
Maybe we could tell our stories of our youth to each other on our cruise! 😀
Sounds great Marsha & co, But I can’t do boats!!
Uh oh,then from the beach is fine.I live pretty close to Daytona. Come on down!
we can party on the beach….I did that a bit in Daytona…and at Big Daddy’s (the 3-floored night club)..drinking “Big Daddy’s” gin.. does that place still exist? Keep in mind that this was 1974 (I was only 17, but “finding myself” in Florida at the time!) Hit Cocoa Beach, Wiki-Wachi (sp?) beach, this beach, that beach…ahhh…what a wonderful “free-wheeling” time!
Drop the a/c to 60 and enjoy the chill and Irish Coffee!
That’s what I do, Susan! haha!
The first year my bro and family moved to Augusta, GA mama and I flew down for Christmas. We had never seen a fireplace burning in person so on Christmas Eve he dropped the a/c to 60 degrees and lit the fireplace for us. He is a good big bro – just don’t tell him I said that!
Yep, that’s what lots of Floridians with fireplaces do during the holidays!
I may have to diffuse my Monday with some of this… or maybe wait until Wednesday. I get paid then and can afford the whiskey…nahhh!!!
What a cutie! I absolutely adore sleeping kittens!
what a fluffer!!
Little fuzzy caterpillar of a kitten! I want to pet her right between the ears and down her forehead.
Here is a very sweet story from another site…
I just read a wonderful story about a woman who made it through a very sad time in her life by adopting a cat. Pat Bridges in Trappe, Maryland writes about her short-haired gray tabby-stripped cat, Charlie and all that he has brought to her life.
Pat lost her husband in June of 2006 without any warning. She felt like a light had gone out of her life and she had been left behind in the darkness, feeling her way. She wasn’t sure how to get on with her life without her husband and was terribly sad. The house was too quiet and she was so very lonely.
Pat thought that perhaps bringing another warm body into her home might help and began to think about getting a pet. She thought that perhaps a dog would be too much work at such a difficult time. She imagined that a cat might be a good choice of a new friend. She jokes that a cat would surely be less hassle than a man at least.
So Pat wandered down to the local Talbot County Humane Society to see what cats might be available for adoption. She was surprised when she saw that there was a cat named Charlie. Her husband was named Charles and she thought perhaps it was a sign.
When she went to greet him, she was sure he was the right cat for her. Charlie rolled on his side, purring loudly. In the play room he put his paws on her shoulder and licked her on the chin. There was no question that this was a match made in heaven, so Pat took him home.
Charlie and Pat are now best of friends. She wonders if her husband might have sent him to her to give her a little comfort and a lot of joy. Pat says that the wonderful cat has brought some of the light back into her life and made a difficult time a bit easier to manage. She knows she isn’t alone.
There are so many cats out there that need homes and sometimes we need them just as much as they need us.
What a sweet story and oh so true. Our animals are all little angels in fur coats!!
Thank you for sharing a sweet touching story.
Is there any one on this site that knows about dogs?? A family that lives a few blocks from me lost their dog. They had just gotten home from adopting her when someone opened a door and she ran out. She comes to my patio at least 1 time each day and eats the cat food I have out there. She is staying within a 3-5 block area and everyone is trying to get her. Because she doesn’t know this area or any of the people (including the adopters) she runs whenever approached or called. She is a very friendly 4 year old Bernese Mountain Dog, so about the size of a Newfoundland. Does anyone have any ideas on how to catch this poor creature.
Lots of patience is all I can say. You might try sitting down near the food and letting her approach you. No sudden movements and don’t smile. They see teeth as a sign of aggression. Also, try not to make eye contact as this can also be perceived as aggressive. Once she does approach, be ready to restrain her gently. Hopefully this can be done while petting her. Good luck!
Make sure there is some water at all times, and put out dog food too. Call animal control and ask them if they can loAN YOU A large animal friendly trap. I’m with an animal rescue group in NJ, I answer emergency calls, and have a binder with more info. My e-mail is Speakezswd at Aol dot com. Those are big dogs, so make sure a trap is large enough.
I know this sounds silly, but I caught my dalmation, who was the same way, very skiddish and very thin, with pizza! I sat outside and waited on her, it took about 20 minutes and she finally came up to me for that slice of pizza!! She passed away last year at the age of 14. Good luck, I hope you catch the big fellow!!
I could be caught with pizza, as well…
LOL!! I hear ya!!
Good luck catching the dog. Some good advice given. Let us know how it all turns out. Who’s buying the pizza!!
All this pizza talk, now I’m hungry……..
I am SO blaming you for my getting pizza for dinner tonight, LeeAnne! (And I’m blaming you for eating too much of it, too!)
Pizza and a movie at my house!!! Bring beer!!
I’m there MeezerMama!
I’ll bring the Corrs’ Light!
MeezerMama
I’ll bring the popcorn!
If she plays well with other dogs (the adoption place might know), and you can find somebody with a friendly dog, you could see if that person could walk their dog a bit more frequently in that area. If the lost pooch comes up to say hello to the other dog, that might be a chance to catch her.
What a wonderful story! Thanks Dee! That is a 10 on the “awwometer”.
This story is a real tearjerker. I had 2 co-workers stop at my desk and ask if I was alright, because my eyes were watering as I read this story. Tricksey is too cute. I love to wach bebe kittys sleep. P.S. Bailey’s on the rock rules any time of the year.
That’s a wonderful story Dee ! I’ve had kitties come into my life when I needed them(and they needed me most). When I was recovering flat on my back from back surgery my neighbor heard a tiny mewing in the alley and brought a tiny tortie kitten(about 2 or 3 weeks old) for us to take care of. I at least had a little being to focus on instead of my discomfort and she was a joy.
What a precious baby she is. Aren’t they just too cute when they are asleep?

Dee I have the worst luck with your freebies. I filled out the form down to the end of the address/city/state then it would not go up any further to complete the form. Oh well…I guess I’ll just have to stay my favishing self – yeah right.
That was supposed to read ravishing I can’t even type it as it is such a huge lie!
Poor, Susan! Well, absurdlycool.com should be ok for you…
i got it done only because i always use the Tab key to go down to the next item on those kind of things. that should work for anyone else 🙂
Susan—the Dove site has a scroll bar “within” the address information—did it not work for you?
she might not be able to see it depending on her monitor. i couldn’t see it on my work comp, but at home i would be able to.
No, I tried everything. There was an add on the bottom. I tried the arrorws, scrolling and the enter key to no avail.
thank you soooooo much for this! i love dove and get all the free samples i can, and ive been waiting for this one! 😀
You’re welcome, Jen!
Elene-Here’s Lil Hunney’s story. I hope some of the things that worked with her will work with your kitty. I don’t claim to know all but I learned a lot. Here’s some other tips: Don’t speak in a high pitched voice. This makes nervous cats more nervous. Speak in a lower pitched soft voice. There are some cassette tapes on the internet for scared cats. I can’t remember the name of the company. Try googling “tapes for frightened (or nervous) cats”. Use a laser light for playing. The more the kitty plays with it the closer you can have him running past you or even over your legs so he will learn you will not grab him. When I would sing song Lil Hunney’s positive expressions it would last about 2-3 minutes and I would say it over and over. Here’s part of it: You’re a goooood girl and you deserve only the best. The best food, the tastiest treats, the freshest water, etc. You are soft and fluffy, you’re strong and brave, etc. You get the picture. You can also turn on a T.V. for him with the sound down low sometimes and play classical music (low) sometimes. It was 6 months before I could actually stroke Lil Hunney and another 3 months before she quit being so nervous about it. I would have to coax her to me and use her positive expressions over and over. I hope this helps. Here’s her story:3-22-2006
LIL HUNNEY’S STORY
LIL HUNNEY CAME TO ME THROUGH SOME FRIENDS DURING A ROUND UP OF
FERAL CATS FOR TNR (TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN). SHE CAME IN WITH SEVERAL
KITTENS (NOT HERS) AND WAS LISTED AS EIGHT WEEKS OLD. AT ABOUT SEVEN
POUNDS I KNEW THERE HAD BEEN AN ERROR BUT WAS CAPTIVATED BY HER
SWEET EXPRESSION AND VOWED TO SOCIALIZE HER. I HOUSED HER IN ONE
OF MY BATHROOMS (JUST A NORMAL SIZE BATHROOM) FOR THREE MONTHS.
I SPENT MORE HOURS IN THAT BATHROOM THAN ANYWHERE INCLUDING
MY FULL TIME JOB. I SAT IN THERE FOR HOURS TALKING TO HUNNEY, READING
TO HUNNEY AND DEVISING GAMES TRYING TO GET HER TO TOUCH ME SINCE
I SURE COULDN’T TOUCH HER! I SLEPT ON A MAT IN THE BATHROOM EVERY
NIGHT HOPING THIS NON-THREATENING POSITION WOULD EASE HER FEARS.
FOR THE FIRST WEEKS I SLEPT WITH MY NOSE TO THE WALL. SHE WAS THAT
WILD AND THAT FRIGHTENED. EVERY NIGHT, I WOULD PRAY FOR HER, OUT LOUD,
USING HER NAME. I HAD A LITANY OF POSITIVE EXPRESSIONS I WOULD SAY OVER
AND OVER (YOU’RE A GOOOOOD GIRL, YOU ARE SPECIAL AND DESERVE ONLY THE
BEST…….) IN A LOW SING SONG VOICE. WHEN I WAS OUT SHE HAD A SMALL TV
FOR COMPANY. AFTER THREE MONTHS, I LET HER OUR OF THE BATHROOM
NO LONGER WORRIED ABOUT A SURPRISE ATTACK BUT NOT YET HAVING TOUCHED
HER. THAT WOULD HAPPEN WEEKS LATER WHEN A FRIEND SUGGESTED I
“ACCIDENTALLY” BRUSH MY HAND AGAINST HER WHEN SITTING DOWN HER FOOD
DISH. THE FIRST TIME I ACTUALLY STROKED HER IT WAS A GIFT. IT’S BEEN
THREE YEARS AND SHE WILL NOW LET ME TOUCH HER WHEN SHE IS
LYING DOWN, BRUSH HER (AS SHE WALKS AROUND AND AROUND ME) AND WHEN
SHE IS FRIGHTENED I JUST START GOING THROUGH THE POSITIVE EXPRESSIONS
AND IT WORKS ALMOST LIKE HYPNOSIS. SHE COMES WHEN I CALL AND
OCCASIONALLY COMES OUT WHEN WE HAVE VISITORS. SHE WILL ONLY ALLOW 3
PEOPLE TO TOUCH HER, MYSELF, MY DAUGHTER AND MY DAUGHTER’S FRIEND.
SHE STILL LIKES TELEVISION AND WILL LAY ON THE SOFA AND WATCH IT AFTER
WE RETIRE. I THINK PART OF THE REASON FOR THE SUCCESS OF HER BEING
(MOSTLY) SOCIALIZED IS SHE SEEMS TO BE MENTALLY CHALLENGED IN SOME WAYS.
SHE DOES NOT READ THE OTHER CATS SIGNALS. WHEN WHITEY STALKED
HER, SHE JUST GAZED AT HIM UNTIL HE GAVE UP IN DISGUST. WHEN SOCKS GROWLED,
SHE TOOK IT AS AN INVITATION TO PLAY. AT 4 1/2 YEARS OLD SHE STILL
BEHAVES LIKE A (13 POUND) 12 WEEK OLD KITTEN. ALSO HER SHORT TERM
MEMORY IS SOMEWHAT FAULTY. FOR INSTANCE, THE FIRST WEEK AFTER WE PUT
UP OUR CHRISTMAS TREE, EVERY TIME SHE LEFT THE ROOM AND CAME BACK
SHE WOULD DO A DOUBLE TAKE AND RE-DISCOVER THE TREE. HOWEVER, SHE
NO LONGER FORGETS HOW GOOD IT FEELS TO BE PETTED AND INSISTS THAT I
PET HER AND “SING SONG” HER POSITIVE EXPRESSIONS UNTIL MY HAND IS NUMB
AND MY VOICE IS HOARSE. I NEVER FORGET THE PROMISES I MADE TO HER DURING
THOSE LONG HOURS IN THE BATHROOM. I HAVE A REAL AFFINITY FOR FRIGHTENED
ANIMALS AND LIL HUNNEY IS MY SHINING STAR. EVEN AFTER THREE YEARS, EVERY
TIME I TOUCH HER OR SHE COMES TO ME WHEN I CALL, IT IS A RENEWAL OF THE
GIFT OF LOVE AND TRUST SHE HAS BESTOWED UPON ME.
ROBYN SMALLEY
PS LIL HUNNEY HAD HEART DISEASE AND WENT OVER THE RAINBOW BRIDGE A FEW
WEEKS AFTER I SUBMITTED THIS TO CAT FANCY MAGAZINE. MAYBE SOMEDAY YOU WILL
SEE HER STORY THERE.
Kittypaw you just told an amazing story of dedication and love.
I know the laying on floor routine and the sing-song litany in low voice. It certainly does work with patience. I’m sure that if I do all the things you suggested it will work for this guy too. I thank you for reminding me of that fact. I just have to get myself prepared for the pain that being on the floor will cause. I’ve done it before, so with trepidation I will say; I think I can do it for this big boy.
Beautiful story. So sorry for your loss! Prayers are with you. Lil Hunney was your gift of love.
That is such a beautiful story. Even the most feral of kitties appreciate and repay the love they receive. Bless you for helping the little angel.
Thanks y’all. It’s nice to have people who understand why I still cry for Lil Hunney even after a year. I only have 2 friends here in Memphis who understand how a person can grieve so much for a cat and I am so grateful to those 2 friends and the friends I have on TDK.
Kittypaw I understand. When someone that special comes into your life you cannot help but grieve for them. My cat Whiskers has been gone two years and I still miss her. You are an amazing and wonderful person for putting so much time and patience into taking care of Lil Hunney. She is waiting for you over the bridge. The angels are smiling at you.
Kittypaw, I almost got fired from my last job because I took the day off to put my precious Sammy to sleep and to grieve. Most people at work laughed at me and said, ” it’s only a cat”. With that I responded, “If it was your mother or father or sister or brother, would it make it any less important?” They said, it’s only a cat. I said, that cat was my life, as important as any family member to you. She was my family member, and if they want to fire me over it, so be it. I will stand for my principles, no matter who agrees or disagrees. I didn’t lose my job, just my pay for the day. It was a very small price to pay. My heart broke and money was not the issue. My friends understood. If management didn’t, I didn’t care. My life is what I make it. If my babies are the most important thing to me, so be it. Deal with it or get out of the game. I will always do what I have to do, no matter the cost. Kittypaw, I know from the depths of my heart how you feel, and I give you big hugs and hopefully some peace that someone else knows how you feel.
So sorry for your loss, Lynn. I know how you feel. My cats are my family, too.
I’m with you. I have taken a day or two off to grieve before….with or without pay, it doesn’t matter. “It’s only a cat,” is one of the most insensitive things you could say, but I’ve had it said to me. I still cry when I think of my kitties that have gone the way of the Rainbow Bridge — RIP Mary, Freud, and Lyndon! My heart goes out to you, Lynn, Karin, and Kittypaws, and anyone who has lost their loved fuzzy-one…
What a beautiful story Kittypaw, what amazing dedication and devotion.Lil’ Hunney was sure lucky to find you.And after I read this story in Cat Fancy I’ll tear up again.
I can’t have cats of my own since my husband and son are very allergic to them (and to dogs). I love cats, so every day on my computer at work I set as my backgroung the Kitten of the Day! I get a lot of comments on my cats. Thanks for sharing!

Did you hear about the jaguar that killed the Zookeeper at the Denver Zoo on Saturday? So tragic.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/02/25/jaguar.mauling.ap/index.html
It sounded like the zookeeper was new on the job. I wonder what caused such a tragic event. Two lives lost. I also wonder why they didn’t use tranquilizer dart instead of bullet.
I wondered that too Elene. So quick to kill the big cat.
I don’t understand why they kill these animals for being what they are. A Jaguar is a predator and he behaved like a predator. I can understand it if the animal is loose and in a situation to attack other people but in a zoo situation the killing of this jaguar makes no sense.
I absolutely agree! If you are going to have a predator in captivity, you are assuming the risk for their behavior. Ridiculous!
Elene, I asked my husband the very same question and he said that as sad as it is they probably didn’t have time to think about what they were doing, he said they just reacted to the attack of the keeper, still it’s a real shame.
Almost forgot…..”HAPPY HAPPY” TO GINNY!
Yes, one of the local radio stations was saying that the big cat attacks will happen and why did this person go into the cage when the zoo’s policy was a ban on the employees entering the cages while the animal was in it. The big cat’s instincts never go away and when it sees a human as pray/toy, it will attack. Very foolish of this zookeeper. They should have known better. Very tragic though.
I saw that this morning. How horrible.
Your baby is so beautiful. Such a sweety!
**N.J. Town to Set Time Limit on Barking**
CLIFTON, N.J., Feb. 25, 2007
(AP) The city of Clifton is not going to the dogs. At least not if the City Council has anything to do about it. Later this month, the council is expected to introduce an ordinance setting a limit on how long dogs can bark.
Noisy canines will be defined as those that bark for more than 30 minutes on two consecutive days.
The city already has nuisance and “noise laws that can be used to address annoying and disturbing noises such as constant barking.” But officials said those laws are sometimes difficult to enforce.
Police have to investigate complaints, and the city Health Department sent 11 letters last year warning that a summons could be issued if the barking continued, health officer John Biegel said. Clifton has issued 3,756 dog licenses this year.
Getting a summons is rare, because the person who complained must go to court to sign a complaint.
Fines for the new ordinance could start at $250, Biegel said.
Can I apply that to some of my noisy human neighbors? Some of them are louder than barking dogs. Living in the SF suburbs may be nice climate wise but it is getting way too crowded here and what with a “me society” brewing, I can say I am getting interested in moving to Iowa or Kentucky or somewhere where there are houses that at least two football fields apart or more.
Come on over Karin! There are still parts of the state with lots of space!
Sounds great ppearson! I also would love a place where everyone cares about each other, where the housing prices are not sky high (my area a two bedroom two bath condo starts at $420,000 and it is less than 1000 square feet and built in 1965!), where we can all take care of each other’s cats when one goes on vacation…sign me up for TDK’s community.
Holy smokes, Karin! Get this community started. I though I had it bad! Girlfriend, how do you do it? Hang in there.
Right behind ya Karin. My human neighbors are driving me NUTS! Just because they’re getting hard of hearing, doesn’t mean I am!! When I politely ask them to turn their TV down a notch, they hang up on me!! GRRRRRRRRRRR!! The joys of townhome living…..hate it!! Give me wiiiiiide open spaces anyday!! HEY? Why don’t we build our own TDK community??? It’s a thought….
I’m right there with you girls? I live in a mobile home park and I now have new neighbor with 3 kids. An older couple had moved out and they came in. I have a problem with kids screaming at the top of their lungs and I have to turn up my tv to hear it. Then they run back and forth in the trailer and sounds like elephants running through. I guess the peace and quiet I enjoyed is gone. Mades me mad that my cats are skittish now because of it. I try to calm them as best I can. I cringe to think of how it will be in the spring with the windows open.
So when the TDK community is up and running, save me a spot!! I’ll be there with bells on!!
Lynn in PA,
I know what you mean about noisy neighbors. I have people who park in my yard and drive all over it, like it was their own! We have tried to level up our yard and seeded it with grass. Renters move in next door with brats who are in my yard scaring my cats and beating on my bluebird boxes. HHMM, a TDK community would be nice. Wide open spaces with catlovers for neighbors!
We will save you a choice spot, Lynn, when it opens up. I live on about 4 acres but I wish my neighbors lived further from me. I had one kid, I caught looking in my window, he was about 4yrs. old! How are you today?
I seen where everyone in that area was having a bad storm. Be careful and take care.
I am fine, Renee, thanks for asking. The storm was not a bad as expected. Worried that what melted might freeze up, though. I’d give my right arm for your 4 acres. But sorry that your neighbors are such jerks. And that 4 year old has alot of nerve. Hope you gave him a good taking too. Thanks for saving me a spot. You all would be so cool to have as neighbors!!!
I’m so sorry for those of you with awful neighbors!! My chin dropped just reading some of them. And Renee your poor little kitties being scared by those little brats! Maybe you can find some way to get them back and scare the pants off of them! If you do, take video and bring it to TDK. “Revenge of the GOOD neighbors!!!”
The guy upstaris moves furniture around and vacumns between 2 and 3 in the morning and does laundry. I don’t run any major appliances after ten or before nine in the morning so as not to disturb people who go to bed early or sleep late. I always had lived on the 2nd floor when in Chicago but my mother taught us to respect others now I live on the first floor and wish my mama was alive to teach some manners to the guy upstaris.
Susan–the main reason I moved to my current apartment 6 months ago was because of my upstairs neighbors! Just horribly loud. And the landlord did nothing. And they must have slept in shifts, because there was noise coming from up there round the clock. Sometimes, they were so loud, my cats would run and hide under the bed! We were all afraid that the ceiling was going to come crashing down!
I DID have my ceiling crash down on top of me 3 years ago different neighbor turned on the washer and left. A hose came lose so the tub emptied and filled again for the rinse. I called maintence as it was 6PM on a Saturday night when he got here I was showing him the problem when the ceiling came down pinning me to the floor. Steve grabbed slabs of ceiling off of me and had to help me off the floor as I am like the turtle on its back. It took almost three weeks to dry out the carpet and cement floor under it and to put up a new ceiling. I took a picture and it came in handy when the ceiling was leaking again a couple of months ago. They determined this time it was from the pipes of the sprinkler system. I gave them the photo to use as a road map! That one happened at midnight I had one other water incident but it only filled up the light fixture and even the light bulb thankfully I shut off the light quick when I saw what the problem was. The first incident happened two months after I moved here with the fall two days before I moved and then that fall put me out of comission for quite awhile even walking with my cane was horribly painful.
I’ll take a spot if dogs are allowed. My “neighbors” like to blare their car radio at 3:00 in the morning. I thought about buying them a radio and a pair of headphones but they probably wouldn’t get the point.
I know what you mean LeeAnne. I live in a five unit apt building that is across from another five unit building and both were probably build in the early 70’s when they didn’t use much for insulation. I can hear my neighbors below me talking at night in their bedroom. Last night I went to ask them to tone it down a little and one of the twentysomething’s mother was there crying her eyes out about something. When she saw me in the door way, she just about pounced on me but he daughter pushed her back. I went up to my apt and not less than 10 seconds and this woman is banging my door and gives me a verbal assault. I got so scared I called my husband to the door. All I did was ask for the roommates to talk in lower volume! Holy cow!!! I decided at that point that the human race needs a new gene pool and I need to move.
Karin you are correct too many people come from their parents swimming in the shallow end of the gene pool.
Well, if any of you decide that Colorado is for you, let me know. My spousal unit is a realtor in the Denver metro area, and I am slowly studying for the licence. 🙂
Sure could use this in our neighborhood. Some poor neglected dog is chained up somewhere and barks continuously from sundown to bedtime. Basically as long as kids are out running around. We have yet to pinpoint the source of that poor baby’s yelping but he just goes nonstop..
For those of you who are freezing, here are some fantastic looking slow-cooker soups…

interesting koala revelation…
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/2/story.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=10425714
I’ve never pondered the sexuality of koalas, before…hmmmm. I know that many females of a species will mimic a male’s reproductive actions (I said that nice, didn’t I?) to establish dominance. I’ve never noticed this behavior in “whole” cats, however..
Pretty little lady kitten! I love the long silky hair in her ears! How nice that she has someone who loves her and gives her a nice safe place to dream her little kitten dreams. Love her always!

**Prankster Stretches Sheets Of Plastic Wrap Across Road**
POSTED: 10:29 am PST February 26, 2007
BOISE, Idaho — A prankster is stretching sheets of plastic wrap across a Boise road — but police don’t think the joke is very funny.
For the second time in as many months, Boise police responded to a report from a motorist last week who struck one of the see-through barriers, which had been stretched between two power poles.
No one has been injured. In this case, the driver was simply startled by the loud popping noise the barrier made when it snapped. But had it been a motorcyclist or bicyclist who didn’t see it, they could have been knocked off and seriously injured, police say.
A similar prank in Wisconsin in 2004 injured two people and landed four teenagers in court.
“This is not a joke,” said Boise police Sgt. Paul Burch.
“This is a very reckless activity and creates a serious hazard to the public.”
The act of stretching plastic across the roadway would typically be a misdemeanor — obstructing a road. But if it results in an injury, the culprit could be charged with a felony, police said.
I have to tell you this in relationship to this story. As a child, I and my neighbors did this with twine in our street. I was all of 9 or 10 at the time. We thought it was funny, til a man ran into it with his car. We didn’t realize we had stretched it that tight. We only meant to scare people. His car hit the twine and broke it. What we didn’t see was the other man on a bicycle behind him, who got hit with the remains of the snapping twine. He suffered facial cuts and one to the neck. Thank god, it was only a surface cut. Needless to say, I got my butt beat good by my daddy, got grounded and had to make apologies to both men. That was worse than the spanking. But I learned a very important lesson. There are consequences for every action you take in life. I never did anything like that again, and being the oldest in the neighborhood, made sure that no one else did. The cops put it down as a kid’s prank. Not so these days. Teach your children well. What was a prank in my day, is a felony, today.
I can remember some guys I know doing this when we were teenagers– with fishing line….geez…on bikes or motorcycles, they could’ve been decapitated. How foolish, but then they were just thinking of cars, not bikes!
**Woman Starts ‘Rent-a-Wife’ Business**
POSTED: 10:31 am PST February 26, 2007
GRANTS PASS, Ore. — A woman who started a “Rent-a-Wife” business says she’ll do lots of things for men — but only when it comes to housework.
Dawn Haney started advertising her cleaning business as “Rent-a-Wife” two weeks ago. She offers housekeeping, meal preparation, laundry, windows, errands, help with bookkeeping and even being a party hostess for single men.
Of course, the name of her business draws lots of questions.
Asked how far her wifely chores go, she says, “not that far.”
Haney says her business targets single men because she says she doesn’t like cleaning homes where women live. Women, she says, “have all those foo-foos, and I don’t want to clean them,” she said.
Of course, some people don’t get the joke.
She said she got a call from one person asking if it was an escort service, and another who was looking for a companion.

I love Calvin & Hobbes! Thanks!
That’s precious. I talk back to all my kitties. At least I’m not the only one – lol.
I would not have been able to resist picking her up for a cuddle…
Wonderful story at this link about U.S. soldiers and their prohibited pets! I must read “From Baghdad, With Love”!

I just received this cat feeder from Drs Foster and Smith-one of my favorite sites-and I love it!http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=15427&Ntt=cat%20bowls&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Np=1&N=2002&Nty=1
Hey Dee! Have you checked out Petco.com. Every now and then they have really great deals on cat furniture (which I swear by) also got the Booda litter box. I like it. Because it’s got a built in “on ramp” they don’t track litter as much, I ended getting 2 of them, cause my 3 can fill a litter box now!! Healthy little creatures!!
I’m going to have to check Petco.com more often, LeeAnne. I always find really good deals at Drs Foster and Smith–they have lots of clearance sales, as well. And, I’m re-posting this great coupon code site! Anyone who buys online should check this one out. It has discounts for Petco.com, too!

Oh my, what a little angel!
Tricksey is so cute and fluffy. She looks so contented. I like to watch my kitties sleep.
Did you hear about how NASA plans to deal with breakdowns in space? (a concern after the Lisa Nowak situation…)

Anyone watch the Oscars? Pretty dullsville. Ellen DeGeneres did a good job, though. I think Pilobolus was the highlight of the night!
I actually fell asleep before anything good….I love Ellen, though!
Loved Ellen, too, but they took so long getting to the good awards. Hung in though, but never saw the end!

What a GORGEOUS baby!!! I can’t stand it! she’s so cute, I want a whole backpack-full…so soft-looking and peaceful and fluffy-wuffy… :::dissolves into babbling mass::::
I agree that Tricksey is GORGEOUS. But it is
to be expected as Tricksey is in North Carolina
which is known for its beautiful kittens/cats
and women such as the late movie star, Ava
Gardner. Ava was called “The World’s Most
Beautiful Girl” by one movie magazine. Her
movies can still be seen on TV, such as “The
Killers” , “Show Boat” and “One Touch of
Venus”. She was the most beautiful girl that
I have ever seen in person or in movies.
What a soft angelic looking kitten! Too sweet!
I love her! She is soooooo adorable! Shhhhh! Don’t wake her! 😀
such a sweet fuzzy baby! i offically have a new desktop picture for my home comp now. ive had the one of the screaming little kitty with all the ribbons behind her on there for a while, time to switch up. hope everyone in the cold is safe and warm, and happy b-day Ginny!
