Ah bless, I want one.
Emmy Lou with eyes of blue!
I’ve never seen a cat with such sky blue eyes. How pretty.
what a curious, sweet face……..these ones are dickens, as Erwin is……tickle his tummy he bites my hand and then licks my face 🙂
She will thank you later. The blue brings out her eyes
She has the most beautiful and unique blue eyes. And her cone collar really makes them stand out! Bless her heart she, that thing must drive her crazy.
Space Exploration Fuzz!!!!!
And who is the cute baby behind her?
Space Cadet kitty!! After my Bear got part of his tail chopped off he had to wear a “space collar” too…..i felt so bad for him, but he looked so funny!
Uh-oh. Another Kelly. This could get confusing…
Queen Elizabeth I FUZZ
Queen Emmy Lou! How funny! I wonder how the Anglophiles feel about that?
ohh – the sweet little girl – how cute!!! – Love her eyes!!!
2 months? Holy cow, I didn’t know they did spays that early. Loverly blue eyes though!
They only have to be old enough to metabilize the anistesia (sp?) for a spay, neutering requires…dropping to occure first.
My vet will spay kittens at eight weeks but only if they weigh 3 pounds. My Juliette took months to get to 3 pounds and the Humane Society kept threatening to take her back because I didn’t immediately have her spayed. My vet had to call and write them letters several times. Emmy Lou is beautiful and the collar does bring out the blue in her eyes. Bet she could care less about that though. My Annie had to wear one too because she pulled her spay stitches loose.
Awww, I also had a Juliet. She passed away a couple weeks after her nineteenth birthday in August of 2005. I adored that girl.
Dee-Juliet was blessed to have someone who loved her enough to take such good care of her. I have a Romeo too. He and Juliette can’t stand each other. Juliette would love to see him take poison!
Thanks, Kittypaw! She was just a few weeks old when a co-worker saw a woman drive into the day care parking lot (that my co-worker was just coming out of), open up her car door and throw out a tiny ball of black fluff as she sped off! My co-worker brought the kitten into work that morning and I said I would keep the kitten overnight and bring her to the shelter the next morning. Well, she was my constant companion for 19 years. Friends and family gave her birthday cards and gifts! Even though we all adore our animals, I’d bet that (perhaps even secretly) we all have (or have had) that one that completely fills up your heart. That was Juliet.
Dee-You truely are a gem.
I know you must miss her so, Dee. Sometimes we have a very special bond with a particular pet. My Freud who lived to be almost 22, still visits me from time to time. I can feel his loving presence as her weaves around my ankles. Juliet, I know, is watching over you for she loved you just as passionately and a love like that never dies…it just changes form…
That is so true. I adopted my oldest cat (MacKenzie)just a couple of months after I lost the dog (Max) I had growing up. I swear I can still see Max in MacKenzie’s expressions.
Thanks so much, you guys. And CatRancher–I’d love to think what you said is true–I hope so.
Pamela–did you see that story I posted earlier this week? It was about a “dog” woman who got a cat–kind of “metaphysical”–kind of similar to your story.
Wow, you are both lucky to have had your kitties till 19 and 22! Mine passed away just shy of her 17th birthday. That is also amazing that you feel her presence at times. I would have loved to have felt mine. It has been two years this Sunday and I still miss her from time to time. Especially when Sylvester is being a brat. He of course tries to make it up later by coming and sitting on my lap.
I also meant to say I am sorry for your losses, Dee and CatRancher. When you find that really special cat, it makes their passing even harder to take. The consolation is that we will see them again. I too also think I see something in Sylvester’s eyes when I think of my Whiskers.
Dee, sorry for you loss. She is with you in spirit.
Dee that is so weird. I have always said if an animal could be a person’s soul mate, Juliette is mine. I’m sorry she couldn’t be with you longer. I had another very special cat named Lil Hunney. We were very bonded and I loved her beyond reason. She was almost 5 when I lost her to heart disease last spring. I never know when I am going to suddenly start crying for my Lil Hunney. Here’s her story. I hope it is not too long:
3-22-2006
LIL HUNNEY’S STORY
LIL HUNNEY CAME TO ME THROUGH SOME FRIENDS DURING A ROUND UP OF
FERAL CATS FOR TNR (TRAP-NEUTER-RETURN). SHE CAME IN WITH SEVERAL
KITTENS (NOT HERS) AND WAS LISTED AS EIGHT WEEKS OLD. AT ABOUT SEVEN
POUNDS I KNEW THERE HAD BEEN AN ERROR BUT WAS CAPTIVATED BY HER
SWEET EXPRESSION AND VOWED TO SOCIALIZE HER. I HOUSED HER IN ONE
OF MY BATHROOMS (JUST A NORMAL SIZE BATHROOM) FOR THREE MONTHS.
I SPENT MORE HOURS IN THAT BATHROOM THAN ANYWHERE INCLUDING
MY FULL TIME JOB. I SAT IN THERE FOR HOURS TALKING TO HUNNEY, READING
TO HUNNEY AND DEVISING GAMES TRYING TO GET HER TO TOUCH ME SINCE
I SURE COULDN’T TOUCH HER! I SLEPT ON A MAT IN THE BATHROOM EVERY
NIGHT HOPING THIS NON-THREATENING POSITION WOULD EASE HER FEARS.
FOR THE FIRST WEEKS I SLEPT WITH MY NOSE TO THE WALL. SHE WAS THAT
WILD AND THAT FRIGHTENED. EVERY NIGHT, I WOULD PRAY FOR HER, OUT LOUD,
USING HER NAME. I HAD A LITANY OF POSITIVE EXPRESSIONS I WOULD SAY OVER
AND OVER (YOU’RE A GOOOOOD GIRL, YOU ARE SPECIAL AND DESERVE ONLY THE
BEST…….) IN A LOW SING SONG VOICE. WHEN I WAS OUT SHE HAD A SMALL TV
FOR COMPANY. AFTER THREE MONTHS, I LET HER OUR OF THE BATHROOM
NO LONGER WORRIED ABOUT A SURPRISE ATTACK BUT NOT YET HAVING TOUCHED
HER. THAT WOULD HAPPEN WEEKS LATER WHEN A FRIEND SUGGESTED I
“ACCIDENTALLY” BRUSH MY HAND AGAINST HER WHEN SITTING DOWN HER FOOD
DISH. THE FIRST TIME I ACTUALLY STROKED HER IT WAS A GIFT. IT’S BEEN
THREE YEARS AND SHE WILL NOW LET ME TOUCH HER WHEN SHE IS
LYING DOWN, BRUSH HER (AS SHE WALKS AROUND AND AROUND ME) AND WHEN
SHE IS FRIGHTENED I JUST START GOING THROUGH THE POSITIVE EXPRESSIONS
AND IT WORKS ALMOST LIKE HYPNOSIS. SHE COMES WHEN I CALL AND
OCCASIONALLY COMES OUT WHEN WE HAVE VISITORS. SHE WILL ONLY ALLOW 3
PEOPLE TO TOUCH HER, MYSELF, MY DAUGHTER AND MY DAUGHTER’S FRIEND.
SHE STILL LIKES TELEVISION AND WILL LAY ON THE SOFA AND WATCH IT AFTER
WE RETIRE. I THINK PART OF THE REASON FOR THE SUCCESS OF HER BEING
(MOSTLY) SOCIALIZED IS SHE SEEMS TO BE MENTALLY CHALLENGED IN SOME WAYS.
SHE DOES NOT READ THE OTHER CATS SIGNALS. WHEN WHITEY STALKED
HER, SHE JUST GAZED AT HIM UNTIL HE GAVE UP IN DISGUST. WHEN SOCKS GROWLED,
SHE TOOK IT AS AN INVITATION TO PLAY. AT 4 1/2 YEARS OLD SHE STILL
BEHAVES LIKE A (13 POUND) 12 WEEK OLD KITTEN. ALSO HER SHORT TERM
MEMORY IS SOMEWHAT FAULTY. FOR INSTANCE, THE FIRST WEEK AFTER WE PUT
UP OUR CHRISTMAS TREE, EVERY TIME SHE LEFT THE ROOM AND CAME BACK
SHE WOULD DO A DOUBLE TAKE AND RE-DISCOVER THE TREE. HOWEVER, SHE
NO LONGER FORGETS HOW GOOD IT FEELS TO BE PETTED AND INSISTS THAT I
PET HER AND “SING SONG” HER POSITIVE EXPRESSIONS UNTIL MY HAND IS NUMB
AND MY VOICE IS HOARSE. I NEVER FORGET THE PROMISES I MADE TO HER DURING
THOSE LONG HOURS IN THE BATHROOM. I HAVE A REAL AFFINITY FOR FRIGHTENED
ANIMALS AND LIL HUNNEY IS MY SHINING STAR. EVEN AFTER THREE YEARS, EVERY
TIME I TOUCH HER OR SHE COMES TO ME WHEN I CALL, IT IS A RENEWAL OF THE
GIFT OF LOVE AND TRUST SHE HAS BESTOWED UPON ME.
ROBYN SMALLEY
PS LIL HUNNEY HAD HEART DISEASE AND WENT OVER THE RAINBOW BRIDGE A FEW
WEEKS AFTER I SUBMITTED THIS TO CAT FANCY MAGAZINE. MAYBE SOMEDAY YOU WILL
SEE HER STORY THERE.
Kitty Paw, I am shedding tears. What a beautiful story and an amazingly heroic effort to socialize Lil Hunney. Very few would have made such an effort. I am glad that you had her a for the time that you did. She will reside in your heart forever.
Eyes filling up with tears, now streaming down my face…funny looks from coworkers. Had to explain. What a beautiful story. You are truly an amazing person to be so loving and patient with this somewhat mentally challenged kitty. The angels are smiling at you.
Thank you Ppearson. I was glad to see some other people felt visited by their deceased cats. Every night I feel a cat jumping up and landing on the foot of my bed. That was Lil Hunney’s spot. I look and there’s no-one there. I thought maybe I was crazy with grief. Another weird thing is I “hide” treats for the cats every night before I go to bed. Lil Hunney’s favorite hiding place was the bottom of the cat tree. After she passed away the other cats would not eat the treats I put there. After a few days I stopped hiding treats there in case it made the others sad or un comfortable.
Ok tears coming down the face. How many times we have all been in this situation. Kittypaws, a lovely story told very well. I felt it as we all did. You did fine with your baby. She is waiting for you over the bridge. Never forget the ones we leave to go to a better place, but know that they haven’t forgotten you either. They are with you always. Thanks for sharing. God Bless.
Beautiful story, Kittypaws, told by a beautiful soul — yours. Sometimes even the “damaged” will respond to unconditional and unrelenting love. Bless you and all the “little” souls that walk among us…
what a beautiful little girl:)
Be a clown.. Be a clown.. All the world loves a clown…. Especially one as cute as this dollbaby!
I ALWAYS THOUGHT YOU SHOULDN’T SPAY OR NEUTRAL UNTIL 6 MONTHS- THE EARLIEST. SHE’S A DOLL!!!
Mine says that 4 months is OK, as you want to catch girls before they go into their first heat. First heat can be as early as 6 months.
Awww! But how come she gets that cute little fabric collar? Mine had to wear one of those awful white plastic things!
(And it was hilarious watching him bump into things confusedly for two weeks…)
So did my boy. I felt so sorry for him and so I took it off. Then he pulled open his stitches. Not a good thing. He then wore it day and night for a week.
Tiger, how is your hubby feeling now? He is still in my prayers.
Hubby is home and nursing a very sore tummy with pain meds. His pathology report came back with stage 2 but not spreading to the lymphatic system. We won’t see the oncologist until Feb 8th but everyone we have talked to knows/has known someone with colon cancer and did chemotherapy, even at stage 1. Stop the world, I want to get off… (taking my 4 fuzz-butts with me.)
Tiger I don’t know if you will see this. But I want to reassure you the most important thing is that it has not spread to lymphatic system. That is FANTASTIC news.
Chemotherapy is not as bad for everyone. Some people tolerate it real well. Basically if you want to insure that cancer does not return chemo is the answer.
You guys will be in my prayers. Please tell your hubby to stay positive. Very, very important 🙂
Tiger, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Hang in there. Stay positive and well. Glad hubby is doing ok. One day at a time.
I am happy to hear that your husband is home with you…and even if we can’t stop the world, it’s ok to be very still inside and just watch it go by until we’re ready to move… My mother told me that once when I was a young woman and faced with so many decisions and so many problems that I was “frantic” to know what is was I was SUPPOSED to do and SUPPOSED to feel… she said, “just for a while, be still inside, step back and let the world go by” It seems a simple thing to say, but no one (including myself) had ever given me “permission” to do nothing. I was then able to wait without guilt until the “noise” of the SHOULDs and HAVE TOs left my head and I could think and feel again and soon I was able to move and take action… “being still inside” is where hope and inspiration comes from and is lost in our hectic lives…but we can find it…and then the strength to go on. I’m running on here, but those words said to me by my Mother have helped me to survive and eventually thrive when I have been overwhelmed… I hope they help you, too, KittyPaw, Be good to yourself, sending my love and prayers to you and your husband and family!
Sorry, Tiger, I wrote Kittypaws, but I meant you!
Tiger, I am glad to hear that it hasn’t advanced to the lympatic system. My second cousin (in Canada) had stage 2 breast cancer and with chemo, she is cancer free. She gets checkups regularly now to remain cancer free. I will say a prayer that you husband heals quickly and is able to beat the cancer.
Tiger, I’m sorry y’all are going through this. My pastor had colon/rectal cancer and it was a difficult few months but he has been cancer free for 4 years now. I will keep y’all in my prayers.
Tiger, Thanks for the update. Keeping all of you in my prayers
What a beauty…. and oh those eyes! The collar surely looks softer than what was used on my dog when she was spayed !
Megaphone FUZZ !
Who is just behind her on couch
A gorgeous kitten and wearing a collar seems appropriate cause I have info from Brittany that I am unable to post.TKD wasn’t letting Brittany post last night and now I having the same problem.
Beautiful M on her sweet tabby face. Love the Kilroy Fuzz behind her.
A message from BO:Hey there everybody, first of all, I want to say thank you everybody for praying for Bo. It seems that Bo has become quite the superstar on TDK! There are not words big enough to describe how truly thankful I am. And, how blessed I was to Find Evangeline from Montreal on Catster, she has been an absolute angel in helping me advertise for Bo, and I don’t know what I would have done without her.
Bo is doing well, the vet said that his surgery went very well. The vet closed the wound on his leg and he will stay at the vets office until Saturday, and then he will either come back to me, or, go to Mrs.Ginger (the woman in charge of the rescue Bo is under.) I think Bo is finally on his road to recovery, he finally got over his nasty cold, and hopefully he will be in a new home soon.
Eva has told me that some of you had wanted to donate, that’s incredible!! I have been talking to a woman in Pennsylvania and she really wants him, and any money that you can send over for transportation or to help with vet bills wuold be wonderful. Even if ya’ll just give a couple dollars, that a few more dollars that Mrs.Ginger can use to pay for Bo’s surgery, medicine, transportation, and vet stay. Every cent counts, big time.
Mrs.Ginger is going to put Bo’s story and picture up on her website when she get’s home. They have a paypal account that everybody can send donations to, if you’re not comfortable with doing it over the internet, e-mail me at bmtiz92 AT aim DOT com and we can make other arrangements.
http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/TN238.html
Again, thank you Soooooo much. I can’t believe how kind everyone on here has been.
I will try my best to keep everybody updated on Bo, again, THANK YOU!
Take care,
Brittany Tisdale
Paypal sent.
Me, too. Hope Bo goes to his forever home soon!
Is the petfinder link the one to use to donate for Bo? My kitties would like to help hin.
YES! Bo is even up there now. I specified that I wanted the money to go for BO. THere are other kits at the shelter, right now one kit at a time, for me anyway 🙂
Hi,
I sent my donation to Kitties for Keep. I hope this is the correct people to send it to.
Hip Hip Hurrah! I am so happy for Bo. I still wish I could have adopted him, but trying to be a sensible adult I know it was just naive day dreaming. And unfortunately there are help needing strays everywhere. Anyways it is wonderful that this story has a happy ending.
I have to ask Brittany about paying arrangements. Those credit cards are not quite as common here as they are in the USA.
PS. May I suggest that Bo should be awarded the title of Honorary Cat of TDK?
I second the motion.
All in favor say “aye”
AYE!
AYE from me also!
Aye aye!
Aye, of course, Aye, Aye, Aye!!!!!!!!!
Aye,from me too.
Hey there everybody, first of all, I want to say thank you everybody for praying for Bo.
Sorry everybody, for some reason I was having a very difficult time with posting today. So the good news is we can help Bo.
Since I started all this I want to say a big thank you to you. You have great big hearts, no wonder I love hanging out here 🙂
Sorry about that Evangeline – the software than runs the site assumes your message is spam if it’s got more than one link in it. The comment is now shown here.
Evangeline and Brittany: That is wonderful news! Bo has a home! You two are angels for helping him. (Evangeline: I told you Bo would find a home–he’s a “ho-bo” no more! (awful joke, eh?)
No ‘ho-bo’. He’ll be a ‘home-bo’. Sorry, couldn’t help myself. Was raised in the ‘hood.
Thanks Kittenmaster, I am sorry I forgot to thank you earlier.
Hi Evangeline, I am not sure how to make a donation using the paypal account. Can you send me a link and instructions to lioness036 at yahoo dot com Thank you.
This baby has the bluest eyes I have seen on a tabby. Usually the deep blue eyes are on Siamese-Seal Pts. Love the painted eyebrows. Love the tabbies but then again love all kitties. I tell my husband I am going to be the little old lady with 10 cats. LOL! Happy Friday to all.
Karin, I am running late now but you have to have a paypal account. Go to paypal.com and register, you give a credit card you want used. Once you have an account it is very simple and totally safe, I have been using them online for years.(E-bay addict)
I will write you this evening.
Thanks ya all! I could just hug you!
YAY for TDK AND YAY for BO
Hi, I made a donation via Kitties for Keep using the link provided. Hope this is correct.
Why wait until you’r an old lady? I say be a “crazy cat lady” now, while you have the energy and non-fixed income!
Well, I have only one cat right now and my husband says that is enough. I go to the local Petco or Petsmart for my cat’s food and supplies and when I see the kitties up for adoption, I want to take them all home. I only live in a two bedroom 2 bathroom apt and do not think the cats would like it. It is a great idea though Kate.
$50 just sent to the Bo Fund. So shines a good deed in a weary world. Thank you to Mrs. Ginger, for caring for Bo. Thank you to Evangeline from Montreal and Brittany Tisdale, for putting the word out that Bo needed help. Thank you to Bo’s future family in Pennsylvania. Thank you to TDK for bringing us together. As a long-term lurker, I’m happy and proud to be a first-time contributor.
Welcome Desilu.
I welcome you too and thank you for your generous donation to the Bo fund. You said it all. Don’t be a lurker, come and join us!
I am so happy that Bo found a home!!!! I worried and worried about him and am so glad there is a paypal account I can send to that will help towards his bills and getting him to his new home!
What a sweet baby! I’m sure she’s not happy wearing that collar, but it’s better than what happened to this poor kitty! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cambridgeshire/6301537.stm
Oh no! *laugh* That poor kitty…but I can’t help but laugh at the image.
I don’t know if it is funny or the definition of:
Frustration – Cat view
or
Hell – mouse view
But yeah, that’s funny!
Poor kitty–and mouse! That further reminds me that everytime you throw a jar away or put it in the reclycling bin, to make certain that the lid is tightly capped. These stories regularly surface, and an animal group (or the fire or police dept!) has to dislodge some poor raccoon from a mayonnaise jar!
If the mouse inside jar, then howcome he didn’t attempt to hurt stuck kitty? Somehow am finding difficult to picturize this story
That was way too funny. My co-workers were looking at me strange until they saw the photo
Oh, man, that’s funny!
Love little Emmy Lou.
I can just hear Emmy Lou now, “Curse you, Bob Barker!”
Reminds me of a story:
The Good Fairy was making her rounds one bitter night when she came across an elderly homeless woman huddled in fitful, chilled sleep. Her sole comfort was a thin, bedraggled, black-and-white tomcat.
The Good Fairy took pity upon the poor woman, and appeared before her in a warm glow. “My child,” said the Good Fairy, “I am here to help you. I will grant you three wishes.”
“Oh, Good Fairy,” said the woman, “when I was young, I was so beautiful. My hair was the strikingest shade of auburn, my skin was flawless, and I had a body to die for. Oh, if only I could look like that again!”
POOF! The wrinkles were gone, the gray straggles of hair were replaced with shimmering, shining auburn tresses, and the firm, lithe body of a young woman replaced the hunched stoop of just a moment ago.
“Thank you Good Fairy,” said the woman. “I remember when I was young, I had the most beautiful clothes. They were wonderful silk and satin dresses, always in the latest style. I had gorgeous shoes and accessories that made me look picture-perfect. Oh, if only I could have clothes like that again!”
POOF! The filthy, thin rags were gone, and in their place was a stunning, emerald green gown. The shabby shoes had become a pair of stunning pumps, and the woman was now comforted by a gorgeous, toasty woolen dress coat.
“Good Fairy, I don’t deserve this!” cried the woman. “But I remember when I was young. Oh, the men who came to call! They were always so tall, so dashing, so handsome! I never lacked for company, and they were always such gentlemen! Oh, Good Fairy, to have a man like that again!”
POOF! The Good Fairy was gone. The tomcat was also gone, replaced by a tall, handsome young man in a fine tuxedo. The tomcat gazed at the woman longingly, wrapped his arms around her, gazed deeply into her eyes and spoke softly into her ear…
“Now aren’t you sorry you had me fixed?”
I love that joke. And speaking of Bob Barker and the power of suggestion; I used to have elderly neighbors who took in a stray cat that their daughter found wandering around the parking lot of a nearby hospital. They said to me, “we’re getting her fixed because that’s what Bob Barker always says.” I thought that was so cute. Bob Barker’s compassion for animals is legendary. Just last month he donated $300,000 in order to have Ruby, a 45 year-old African elephant moved from the L.A. Zoo to a sanctuary in San Andreas, California. (and here’s a somewhat interesting fact: I used to work with his announcer, Rich Fields, in Tampa at one of the radio stations we’ve both worked. He’s a star now!)
Way cool! I love Bob Barker, (dating myself) does anyone remember when he did kid shows? I only remember the song, “Kids are People Too” [waka-do, waka-do, waka-do].
THAT WAS BOB BARKER!!!??? I had no clue!
I never knew he hosted a show for kids. It must have been over 40 years ago, right? I know before The Price is Right, he hosted Truth or Consequences.
Triple LOL!
What sweet blue eyes! I feel sorry for them when they have to wear those collars. They look so pitiful! The kitten behind her is also adorable!
Post operative blues (with hiding Sidekick) FUZZ
Shocking!
**Giant python swallows 11 dogs**
http://www.theage.com.au/news/world/giant-python-swallows-11-dogs/2007/01/26/1169594477148.html
Well, it was nice they didn’t harm the snake. I guess the 11 dogs was over time, not all at once right?
They tied a snake to a tree? And it stayed? That I would like to watch.
I wonder if they just wrapped the snake around the tree like a bow!
‘Can I watch Animal Planet with this thing??’-Fuzz
Dude… you mean the “All Cat” channel don’t you?
Whew, Emmy Lou sure knows how to party–she has a lampshade on her head. And I see her twin sitting prettily behind her. Emmy Lou is a photo hog, eh?
Sweet Emmy Lou. She and her companion have something other than that collar on their minds. They both have beautiful aqua blue eyes. Love her very distinctive ‘M’ and soft coloring. Cuddle cuddle smoochie smooch!
Eva-Thanks for getting the word out about Bo. We are always here for each other and the kits.
Have a great day TDKers.
Here is a link for the soft e-collar. I haven’t ordered from them but they have some cool stuff.

And here is a Bite Not collar from my other favorite pet place.
http://www.carealotpets.com/item-detail/?ItemID=000000000000246
Who’s that peeking out from behind Emmy Lou? Emmy is a beautiful baby with a well-defined “M”.
A fantastic choice of name….although I am biased….
Signed Emmy Loo
Don’t suppose your the Emmy Loo in Oklahoma?
Instinct (Mr and Mrs)–and anyone else who likes to cook/bake–
Here is one of the nicest sites I’ve found–great recipes, beautifully photographed and lots of info…
http://landolakes.com/
Thanks Dee, I’m always on the lookout for good recipes.
I’ll put up my lemon bars this weekend. Trust me, if you like lemon you will really like these
I love lemons! I can eat a fresh lemon like an orange! (how many of you just puckered up?)
I salivated at the thought of yummy fresh lemons 🙂
By the way, I tried those Italian donuts over the holiday break and they were lusious! But soooo fattening that I thought I would experiment with the recipe and tryed baking them instead. They came out as very light and chewy cookie like things, so I added a little more sugar (powdered) and a pinch of cinnamon and they were great! Thanks for the recipe, they were right out of my childhood!
Oh, you’re welcome! I have to try baking them if they came out that well. I can’t wait to get home and make the Mexican Hot Chocolate from the chocolate desserts I posted below. It looks ridiculously rich and fattening, but that’s my way of “partying it up” on a Friday night in my 40’s! Gosh, what happened to me? Wasn’t it just a few years ago that Friday night meant getting all dressed up and going to a great restaurant and a movie/play/museum/ with my boyfriend? Now I can’t wait to get home, put on my bathrobe and make hot chocolate (it’s very cold by Florida standards; it’s been in the low 40’s the past couple nights. Having been raised in Michigan it’s so funny that I now view that as cold.)
I can totally relate Dee! A nice cozy fire with the sweats on are in order for this Friday night. Have a great weekend TDKers. Emmy Lou with eyes of blue!
Dee you are a woman after my own heart. I was just thinking that I couldn’t wait to get home and make some tomato soup and curl up on the couch and there you are with the hot cocoa. (Ghiradelli foe me please) That will have to follow the soup. Something about turning 40 that Friday nights at home are way better than going out!
While you all might consider this odd (and well – maybe it is) our Friday night plans for tonight are to take down my wifes gallery show (she’s a landscape painter).
After that we are heading home, getting comfy and watching two of the cheesiest movies ever made: “Zorro the Gay Blade” and “Love at First Bite”.
And of course it wouldn’t be complete without Ritz crackers and lots of cheese (the kind on the plate as opposed to the screen) 😀
Oh, she has a gallery show–no wonder you liked the black and whites I posted.
I loved Love at First Bite! The Richard Benjamin role is hysterical!
I love a nice cheese platter (with olives and dates or figs!). It sounds like you and your wife are good cocooners!
Zorro the Gay Blade is a fun movie too. I actually saw that with my parents. I agree with you what being in the 40 Club as well. I cannot wait to get home, put on the comfy clothes (sweat pants, t-shirt and socks) and cozy up with something warm and my furry friend Sylvester either next to me or on me while I sit on the couch. It has been cold here for San Francisco..in the 40’s and then we had a couple of days of 65 degree weather and now we are back to the 40-50 degree weather. A lot of people have been sick at my office due to the crazy weather.
Yea Dee, we are actually both artist and we may be moving to San Francisco. We are both applying to Grad School at the Academy Art University (she’s doing fine art and me for computer animation)
So yea, a lot of art around this aparment of ours, paintings, drawings ceramic – we have our own little gallery right here at home 🙂
if you want to see her stuff I made her a website (though it needs lots of work – I was in a rush) at http://www.dawn-patrol.net
Yummy….hot chocolate, sweatpants, nice cozy fleece robe…nothing could be better for our temps here ….was in the teens last nite…..
Everyone have a great weekend….
Oh….right…almost forgot….Emmy is beautiful…..lampshade(lol) and all…..
This baby has the bluest eyes I have seen on a tabby. Usually the deep blue eyes are on Siamese-Seal Pts. Love the painted eyebrows. I love the tabby kitties but then again I love all kitties. I tell my husband I am going to be the little old lady with 10 cats. LOL! Happy Friday to all.
I too will probably be one of those cat ladies who answers the door in my robe and tells kids to KEEP THE HELL OFF MY LAWN.
HaHa, I just noticed we have the same first name. Different spelling, but same name nonetheless.
With Emmy Lou’s painted eyebrows, she looks like she is shilling for McDonald’s!
THOSE EYES! THOSE EYES! Look out, Paul Newman and Frank Sinatra – we have found the best looking blue eyes right here.
If anyone would like to visit an art museum from your desk, click on the following link. Surprisingly beautiful black and white photos…

Very nice
Here is a post that Elaine has left the past couple evenings–not certain if it has been noticed. Anyone know what to do from here? Kittenmaster?

Dee, I saw this too and don’t quite know what to make of this. Keep us posted if you find out anything more.
What blue eyes these 2 have! Just beautiful! Kisses and purrs for a speedy recovery to Emmy Lou!
thanks for the ides i’ll try them to get my babies back.
Didn’t I read somewhere that the little grey kittens had now all been adopted?
i totally don’t get that post. I thought they are all adopted too.
Seems to me that elaine is being extorted by the person who has her cats. Kitties are still private property and cannot be held for ransom. I think, (but I am not in Law in any way) that elaine needs to call the cops or something. Try one of the guys in the news who investigates “bad businesses” or something. I sure as heck would not just let someone take my babies, I would fight to get them back.
EMMY LOU looks ready to pounce on whoever put this THING on her!!! Love the siamese colored eyes (except these are straight, unlike my poor old DIxie kittie)
SO SAD TO HERE THEY WERE ADOPTED ALREADY BUT GLAD THEY ALL HAVE SAFE HOMES,AND WON’T BE STOLEN LIKE MINE WEREANYONE WHO WANTS THEWOLE SAD STORY CAN E-MAIL ME AT dixiebell552003 @yahoo.com
Isn’t it great that oxygen masks are becoming standard equipment for firefighters? Interesting article at link–great program based in Houston, Texas. (Contributions can be made by visiting Best Friends at 5602 Royalton in Houston, or by calling 713-664-6111.)

No, Dee, sadly I didn’t get to see this. I heard all about it though. Most of my friends know I’m into sun, moon, stars and anything outer space. I would have had some popcorn and sat outside with my telescope.
Emmy Lou is so sweet. She has a very pretty face. The collar makes her look kind of sad though.
Emmy Lou is a Little Blue Riding Hood 🙂
Beautiful baby! God’s blessings on you and her always. 🙂

Wow, interesting about the giraffe.
She’s beautiful! Very sweet in her collar.
Horaaay for Bo!… I’ll send some $ when I get home from work today.
To everyone who is interested in Bo-Bo–the chihuahua that was dragged behind that horrid woman’s car–here is the latest footage I could find—if you have not yet seen what he looked like directly after the “accident”, click on “Related Links- PREVIOUS: Dog dragged behind car for mile”, which is directly below the current footage. What a recovery! And I am going to post a link where one can sign a petition to make certain Bo-Bo does not go back to his original people.

**How Do You Make Doughnuts Better? Add Caffeine**
POSTED: 1:47 am PST January 26, 2007
UPDATED: 4:34 am PST January 26, 2007
DURHAM. N.C. — That cup of coffee just not getting it done anymore? How about a Buzz Donut or a Buzzed Bagel?
That’s what Dr. Robert Bohannon, a Durham molecular scientist, has come up with. Bohannon said he developed a way to add caffeine to baked goods, without the bitter taste of caffeine.
Each piece of pastry is the equivalent of about two cups of coffee.
While the product is not on the market yet, Bohannon has approached some heavyweight companies, including Krispy Kreme, Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks about carrying it.
Evangeline I’m e-mailing you a separate message to get info for contribution to Bo’s plight.
awwww. she looks like a kitten flower! best way to brighten my day: combine my two favourite things.. :]
♣ Right! She looks like a little pansey ♣

Dee, those all look so delicious! I will take one of each, please. 🙂 I saw they have receipes but since I am a reluctant cook, I will have to give it to my husband who likes to make things from scratch.
A man who cooks! Such a turn-on! (and I mean that in the purest of ways. haha!)
Dee, what are you trying to do??? I am trying to keep my weight semi- normal. How am I supposed to do that with all this sites and recipes..sigh
I’m sorry, Evangeline! I guess I really am a hedonist, eh? But, you, as a fellow Leo, are too! Resistance is futile! We are all about our “senses”—and Scorpio’s are even more decadent than we are! (yes, I’m speaking of you, CatRancher!) All of us with our plushy animals and our wonderful food and our love of art and literature. I’ve always noticed that most “cat people” love all of the sensual pleasures. (don’t turn that into anything perverted Susan and CatRancher!)
I can’t help it, Dee. I was born with my mind in the gutter and my body contorted in a naked Twister game with a bottle of wine in one hand and a tray of gourmet treats in the other….
haha! What are you planning on drinking this weekend? Or has the drinking already begun? haha
A fine Red Zin…yet to be selected and AFTER work. Cocktail hour starts at around 5:00 when I get home!
I am trying so hard not to laugh out loud here as I am still at work. You are all so funny! I too am a Leo, B-day is Aug. 11th so I am all about comfort.
Gee CatRancher! What a visual picture you have put in my mind! lol . Hey Karin, I’m a leo too. My birthday is just a few days before yours. I’m sorry I missed most of the conversing back and forth this afternoon. We had an off day in the weather, it was near 60, so I went outside and cuddled kitties!
I don’t have a credit card, but I’d like to send money for Bo anyway. Any suggestions?
You can use your checking account in paypal, but it takes a few days to set it up. When you click on the “join paypal” button, there will be more info.
Great, thanks, Susan!
Brittany said you can e-mail her directly and she will have alternative suggestions for you Great Dane, thanks very much.
Bmtiz92 AT aim DOT com
Great Dane – It wouldn’t do you any good if you had a credit card. I tried about 6 times to put a donation on my American Express and it kept telling me I wasn’t putting in the correct security code at the bottom. It’s one of those things where they show you a set of numbers/letters and you type it in the box. I even had someone read it for me in case I was reading it wrong. No luck. I guess I will do the PayPal checking account thing.
**Canada worried by plunging caribou population**
By David Ljunggren
2 hours, 27 minutes ago
OTTAWA (Reuters) – The caribou population in Canada’s vast Northwest Territories is falling rapidly and the increasingly warm climate could slow the animals’ chances of recovery, a wildlife specialist said on Friday.
Herds of barren-ground caribou — which for centuries have been a crucial source of food and furs for local aboriginals — have dropped by between 40 and 86 percent over the last 10 years. The largest single herd fell from 472,000 animals in 1986 to 128,000 in 2006 and is still declining.
“The level of concern is very high in the Northwest Territories,” said Ray Case of the territories’ environment and natural resources ministry.
Case — blaming natural factors such as varying climate, insect levels, the amount of food available, and the number of predators — said the caribou population had traditionally risen and fallen over a 30-year cycle.
But he told Reuters that warmer winters and easier access for hunters to the ranges that the caribou cover make it harder to say what will happen to the herds in years to come.
“That doesn’t suggest global warming is driving this but certainly there is concern that things are changing … we do have some uncertainty about what the future holds as far as climate and as far as human activity,” he said.
Case spoke by telephone from Inuvik, in the Mackenzie River Delta, where politicians, wildlife officials and aboriginals were attending a four-day summit on the caribou herds.
“If they experience a number of years with very low calf production and calf survival the herds can decline quite quickly. They can also increase quite quickly,” he said.
Over the past few years hunters have been allowed to kill a an average of 11,000 animals annually, a number that Case said would have to be reduced.
He also expressed concern about modern forms of transport that allow hunters to reach once inaccessible areas where in the past the caribou would have taken refuge while herd levels gradually recovered.
“They can’t hide from us any more. People can either go by ice road or snowmobile or aircraft and actually find the caribou and continue to harvest … we need to be cautious about how we manage the future,” Case said.
Animal rights activists say they are concerned about increased mining and oil extraction on calving grounds in Canada’s mineral-rich northern region. Case said this did not seem to be a major factor in the territories.
“There has been some drilling, some seismic activity on some of the ranges but over the period that this decline occurred the activity has been very low,” Case said.
“There hasn’t been activity on all of the ranges yet all of the caribou herds have shown a similar decline.”
awww what a sweet baby, and the blue coller doesnt look near as bad as the one my lab had to wear when he had a sore on his leg he wouldn quit licking so it would heal. He had to wear this big plastic one that made lots on noise and drove all of us nuts for the month he wore it. Glad Bo has found an adopter I had posted yesterday but it was at the end of the day. I know lots of you work with recues I will be driving from lincoln NE to East Tenn march 6th and home again 12th. Athena, you are a dear to offer your services for our four legged friends. I hope someone can use your very generous and unselfish offer. You are a dear and quite the traveler! Safe journeys and blessing to you.
That is such a kind offer, Athena.
Such a pretty blue lampshade to bring out her pretty blue eyes–clearly Ms. Emmy Lou knows the value of well-chosen accessories!
I love how, when you get a kitten spayed or neutered, the vet always says the same thing: “Try to keep her/him quiet for a few days.” And keeps a straight face when she says it!!! Keeping a kitten quiet is like stapling Jello to a tree…
I know! When I had Atticus neutered the vet said, “Make sure he doesn’t do any running or jumping for the next few days. ” And I said, “But those are his favorite hobbies!”
Seriously.
Emmy Lou is so cute. Love her blue eyes. They are quite bright and expressive. Her sibling is cute, too.
Emmy Lou is so pretty and those eyes! Surreal aqua blue from the reflection of the collar. Like someone said, above, just like a kitty-flower in full bloom!
Dear Catrancher,
I wanted to let you know that I’ve been so busy with my husband’s surgery and stuff that I haven’t had a chance to email you pictures of my 18-lb Tiger. Thank you very much for extending your knowledge! 🙂
A couple of evenings ago I posted a concern of mine and I’d like repost it. With everyone concerned with Bo, I’d like to pass on this info again. Thanks for reading.
Over the past few days I’ve noticed email addresses. I’ve been very concerned about this but I’m not sure how to approch the subject. So I’ll just say it. Please use a different format when posting email addresses. Unfortunately there are people who look for these addresses and email things we don’t want to know about. I’d like to suggest spelling everything out and/or leaving spaces between the words. For example ‘person at internet dot com’. I’ve usually seen this using capital letters but I’m too lazy to press the CAPS LOCK key. With love and lots of purrs.

This is good advice, everyone. Spammers have computer programmes that scan webpages for e-mail addresses, so it’s best not to leave properly formatted addresses on publically available pages. Using yourname AT hotmail DOT com is a better way… a human can read it, but a machine won’t. I’ve edited Evangeline’s address.
PLEASE ASK TDK’RS TO READ LAST COMMENT ONE THE PAGE WITH THE GREY AND WHITE KITTENS NAMED ,ENNIE,MEANIE,MINEIE,AND MO.IT IS SOMETHING THAT I DON’T WANT TO HAPPEN TO OTHERS,ALSO IT’S A PLEA TO ADOPT THE GREY ONE WITH THE ALL PINK NOSE BECAUSE IT LOOKS JUST LIKE THE ONE THAT WAS STOLEN FROM ME.

DID ANYONE SEE THIS?
US woman fights off lion with pen
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6301575.stm
It appears that 2 lions were killed by rangers. Sad sad sad! 🙁
It’s disturbing that the wardens killed 2 mountain lions on the trail without knowing if either one of them had anything to do with the attack.
I agree. While the attack was horrible and the animal responsible needs to be put down….I certainly hope that they investigated before shooting!
nope—they are going to check the dead animals to see if they were responsible. Senseless.
It’s a shame they had to kill 2 lions, instead of tracking down just the one that attacked.
Unfortunately for big cats, their intelligence can be their undoing. A big cat that learns to successfully hunt people remains a significant hazard, if left at large.
It’s a shame the cat couldn’t have been trapped and sent to an enclosed refuge.
i see another little kitty back there, too. Such a sweetie!!!
Beautiful kitten flower, just what I need because my beloved Samson cat just crossed the rainbow bridge after a long bout w/ kidney failure. He was such a sweet cat.One in a million.
Oh, I’m so sorry, Marsha. I don’t know if anything other than time takes the pain away. Please know that we are all here for you. If you’d like, you can “light a candle” for Sampon at this beautiful site. We say a prayer for our departed fur babies every Monday evening.
http://www.rainbowsbridge.com/hello.htm
I’m so sorry for your loss Marsha. I truly believe animals go to heaven and will be there when we get there. If you want biblical scripture about it google “animals in heaven” and there are some sites that will give you verses about it.
Oh I am so sorry for your loss. It will be two years on Sunday since my Whiskers crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Know that you will see your wonderful furry friend again when it is time.
There is a wonderful website for you to put up a memorial of your furry friend. You can go to: http://rainbowsbridge.com/
We’re on the exact same page–eh, Karin?
Yes we are Dee. Great minds think alike. 🙂
So sorry for your loss. Know that Samson loved you with all he had and is still around you. Just look. I know you’ve seen him. He is with you always. Believe.
she is so sweet the incision will heal soon
This is a horrible incident reported in the San Francisco Chronicle. We all need to teach our kids to respect animals. I need a huge piece of chocolate cake after reading this article.

OMG! I am so sick to my stomach now. I hate animal abuse and the people who abuse them. I hope they get the book thrown at them.
I shouldn’t have posted the link. Sorry TDKer’s. There is enough out there that we don’t have to be reminded of it. Sorry again. :’-(
It’s ok. Stop beating yourself up. This website is for all of us to put out opinions and things of interest. You are a concerned citizen and put it out for us to see. You don’t have to apologize. It’s ok.
All of us animal lovers here in Atlanta have been following this story closely. We were so angry when they reported the boys got off due to lack of evidence but it turns out a mistrial was declared because of one juror. When faced with another trial they confessed. Those two are bad seeds waiting to bloom into more viciousness and they now face up to 19 years each. But I believe in karma and even dog lovers go to prison…
I love your fuzzball! So cute!
fuzzies!
Emmy Lou, eyes of blue, could she, could she, could she coo, has anybody seen by gal…
Her beautiful blue eyes reminded me of an old song, changed a few words and voila!
~~*Licking Her Wound fuzZ~~*
my kitty fell on herincision after being spayed and tore the inside stiches. looked like a small egg in her tummy. so taz and i feel for emma
Oddness. My vet said they weren’t supposed to get their surgery until about six months.
Different vets have different things they’re comfortable with. The foster group I worked with would spay and neuter them at 2 months or two pounds, whichever came second. Some want to wait until 3. Six is a bit long, the girls will go into heat before then.
God Bless.
I just want to say, Welcome to all the lurkers who have been out there watching the site. You have come into all of our lives bit by bit. I have to say though, that Bo has made more of our new friends find a home on this wonderful site. And thanks to all of you who have helped this poor kitty out. As you all know, there are certain people who have made their mark here. Dee, with her stories and links to freebies and interesting news stories, thank you! Evangline, who just loves anything that moves, and will help them, no matter what! Kittypaws, Tiger, ppearson, catrancher, susan, and all the others that I look forward to hearing from each day, (and if I fogot your name, I remember you when I click in, you are important too) Just let us keep on keeping on. I remember when this site only had 50 responses per day. We are close to 200 now. We are a community of loving friends. Two legged and 4! And sometimes only 3. Stay with us. We are here. Welcome to the newcomers and stay in touch, the regulars. Thank you Kittenmaster, for giving me new friends and beautiful babys to look at daily.
Thank you for the warm welcome! I was lurking months before I decided to step out of the closet. A successful web site needs devoted regulars who create its spirit. TDK has been lucky this way. I don’t want to underestimate anybody, but I think Dee is the soul of this site. Thank you Dee for your stories and for the many links.
I second that and what a beautiful soul she is!
I third that and agree with you all as well.
And I’ll fourth that.
Well, Dee, you are very much loved as the postings say. Keep doing what you do. I am not the only one who looks to you for stories, entertainment, free food!!!!! (animal or human)! So glad to have met you and consider you a dear friend. You go, girl!
I’ll fifth that. Dee is cool!
I confess to long-time lurking as well and I am spreading the word. After recommending paypal as a way to help Bo I have yet to contribute. My daughter had to have an emergency surgery to remove her gall bladder. I will definitely contribute tonight. Does chocolate cure guilt?
Thanks to everyone for the Rainbow Bridge site,I’ll post a memorial for my dear Samson. Thank you, everyone is so nice here.
We welcome you! Glad you found the rainbow bridge site. God speed to your dear Samson. We try to be nice. Welcome to the fold.
Marsha, so sorry for your loss. I lost my Sheba to kidney problems a little over 4 years ago, also. I ran across a poem a few weeks ago. It is for people but I would like to think it could be applied to our furbabies, too. Here is the poem. I hope it helps.
AN ANGEL’S KISS
We go through life so often,
not stopping to enjoy the day.
And we take each one for granted,
as we travel on our way.
For in your pain and sorrow,
an Angel’s kiss will help you through.
This kiss is very private,
for it is meant for only you.
We never stop to measure,
anything we just might miss.
But if the wind should blow by softly,
you’ll feel an Angel’s kiss.
A kiss that is sent from heaven,
a kiss from up above.
A kiss that is very special,
from someone that you love.
So when your hearts are heavy,
and filled with tears and pain,
and no one can console you,
remember once again…
About the one’s you grieve for,
because you sadly miss.
And the gentle breeze you took for granted,
was just AN ANGEL’S KISS.
This makes me think of a gentle breeze a little differently, now.
Lovely poem,I,too, will think of the gentle breeze more differently.
Thank you for that beautiful poem. It has been three years since I had to give up Domino and Taffy and it still hurts so bad. I have been just lurking this week in alot of pain physically and mentally.
What a beautiful poem. It is appropriate for both human and furry buddies. My Whiskers died of chronic kidney failure one month shy of her birthday on 1/28/05. She was a leap year baby born on 2/28/88. She has been gone two years now and I miss her still. I have her ashes in a beautiful box on a special place on my bookcase. Sylvester is my new kitty and he keeps us busy with his wonderful kittiness. Each cat comes into our lives to teach us what we need to know. Whiskers taught me to love unconditionally and to grieve when she passed on. Sylvester is teaching me to lighten up and to take more time to do things that are fun.
Marsha,
So very sorry to hear of your loss. I know that Samson was loved very much and that his life had meaning. Deepest sympathies.
My sympathies to you on your loss of Samson….so glad you are posting…there are many “comforts” available on this site and many soft hearts to boot!
JCL
Emmy Lou meows, “Oh, come on! All of the other kittens are making fun of me!”
Y’all take care, and clean your paws before dinner.
Emmy Lou
With Eyes of Blue
A known troublemaker.
I have to say
If she sashayed my way
I would simply have to take her.
Good morning Ivory bill ! Everyone has missed you lately and inquired about you. Hope you are feeling well. Yes, I agree, Emmy Lou is a cutie.
Its good to be back….. I work nights, and have been watching after my kitty Joshua during the day…. he is just getting so old….. and hasn’t been feeling well (but doing much better now). So I have been either sleeping, working, or preoccupied. My most heartfelt thanks to all who have been concerned.
Ivory bill, sorry to hear that your Joshua isn’t feeling well. Best wishes to him. Hope he gets to feeling better. You are welcome here, anytime you get the chance.
Sorry to hear your kitty is not feeling well. How old is he? I will say a prayer for him and you.
Emmy Lou looks like a princess in a fairy tale. Such a purrfect little beauty with big innocent eyes! She also has a pretty little maid (or maybe a handsome foot man?) ready to serve. 😉

I just typed in Emmy Lou to see wha came up. I had a gorgeous cat named Emmy Lou who became ill in the last few weeks. Today exploratory surgery revealed she had pancreatic cancer that had already spread so we let her go on the operating table. Now I’ll go and grieve. Hope your Emmy Lou has a great life. Mine did.
how cute!!! is that her sister in the background (or brother???) i also have three cats of my own: Twinkie, T.J., and Joey. Joey’s fat, Twinkie has humongous eyes, and T.J. and a huge amount of energy!!!
oops, I made an error!! i meant to say that T.J. has a huge amount of energy!!! but adorable cat. it’s amazing how animals can be soooooo ADORABLE!!!
