Awww! Lovely baby!

Princess Grace!!!!!!!
She looks sooo sweet, kinda reminds me of a cat I had for 23 years. 🙂
Gracie looks so soft and feminine… her looks are just begging for gentle pets!
What a purrfect little lady and a bundle of love!
Such a sweet baby with a kissable pink nose.
Hope everyone had a good weekend! Loved the meezer brothers from yesterday
“Say goodnight” FUZZ
There is nothing in the world that knows more about physical comfort than a baby kitten. Their only purpose is to be loved.
What an adorable kitten. I think she knows it too.
Any of you guys have any suggestions for moving with 4 cats? I have never traveled 1100 miles with a pet.
It depends on how you’re travelling. We just moved back to U.S. from Costa Rica and the airlines won’t accept animals if they are tranquilized. To make my babies more secure I slept with some old towels for a few nights so they would pick up my scent and then put them in the pet carriers. If you are travelling by car you can have your vet prescribe a mild tranquilizer and hopefully your darlings will sleep most of the time. Make sure you stop frequently to let them eat, drink, etc. Good luck and happy trails!
Love TDK site. Gracie is so precious looking.
But, I have a question for Ticabelle about Costa Rica.
I hope to travel there in February. What is must see and do, good places to stay, and do you think I can drive a rent a car or is it too unsafe? Thanks for any help or your direct email.
Greybeard’s human, Costa Rica is a beautiful country but there are some things you should be aware of. We lived there for two years so I can give you a couple of pointers as to what to look out for. My direct email is ticabelle2@yahoo.com.
I’ve moved 1200 miles and had them flown from Tx to Florida, then moved a second time and drove them 1200 miles from Florida to Michigan. The driving was a million times better. If you can drive them, do it. We rented a van and I took 3 cats and 2 cockatiels and all of my plants and the breakables and jewelry I didn’t feel comfortable trusting to the movers. It was the best thing we ever did. We drove it in one trip, didn’t even have to take advantage of the cat-friendly motel I’d scouted out in advance in Tennessee. Each cat is different, but I have to say that one of my cats got so stressed out from flying that he nearly died — he picked up some kind of awful virus at the kennel just before they put him on the plane, and the stress exacerbated it. He was deathly ill when I picked him up at the airport. I will never do that again if I can possibly, possibly avoid it. Just my 2 cents. Good luck! It can be done.
It also helps to have the pet carriers in the livingroom or somewhere like that a few days in advance. Keep the carrier door open and once in a while toss is a cat treat or two. The cats should get used to the sight of the carrier. The towel/blanket idea is great!
Have a great day everyone!
Grac(i)e Kelly Fuzz. What beauty and royalty!
For moving with a pet-by plane, check the airline as some cargo holds are not pressurized and some are not temperature controlled so many animals have died in route. In the passenger area there is an extra charge, it requires a certain carrier, some airlines require tranquilization and proof of vaccines, and you are usually limited to a certain number of pets.
By car- a sturdy crate with towels or some other comfortable liner and a favorite toy. At home leave the crates out for them to play in so they get familiar with them. If you have time, put them in the crates and drive around the neighborhood to get them use to travel. You can have the vet prescribe a mild sedative if you find they are too upset. But you may just want to let them cry. Generally even our most vocal animals have settled down with-in 45 minutes in the car. We travel with the sedative just in case one won’t settle down and only then give it then.
For hotels accepting pets try http://www.petswelcome.com , http://www.pettravel.com or just call your favorite hotel directly in the city you want to stop at and ask. Some chains may not accept pets but individual hotels with-in the chain do. While in the hotel we put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door and let them have run of the room. If we are in a place for more than a day we let the maid know there are animals and not to come in the room-we just get the towels from her. It is safer to crate them if you are going to leave the room because you don’t know who may need to come in while you are gone. If they have their claws, putting on Soft Claw caps so you don’t have to worry about the hotel furniture is nice.
Try not to feed them heavy meals before getting on the road as they could get car sick. Keep dry food or treats handy to put in the crates (a trick to get one to stop crying). Disposable travel litter boxes work great. Every few hours stop lock all doors so they don’t escape, and give them access to the litter box and some water in the car. Make sure they all have collars with ID and Rabies tags on.
We travel with food, bottled water-both for the car and hotel-local tap water can cause diarrhea, dishes, small broom and dustpan, leashes with cat harness, disposable litter pan & scoop, sedative, treats, vinegar in a spray bottle for accidents, extra paper towels, pictures in case they get lost, garbage bags to put under litter box, and medicines.
Once in your new home, I hope they are indoor cats, but if they are not try to keep them inside for at least a month. This gives them time to establish their new territory and they are less likely to wander away.
I’ve never traveled internationally, but there are certain certificates that are required and sometime quarantine for the animal. You may want to contact the tourist board for the country you are going to. Also http://www.pettravel.com lists hotels for international travel, but I would verify with the hotel before booking.

Happy Traveling!
Thanks everyone. It will be an interesting frive to say the least. I’m not too worried about the 2 adult cats it is the kittens that concern me most. Probably get to hear a lot of noise for the first few hours.
Chuck—-The product “Feliway” works great—this link will describe it in detail. I’ve found that Drs Foster and Smith are the least expensive for many things—including Feliway and all flea control (Frontline, etc.). If you place an order, enter code # 24454014 for $5.00 off of entire order.

Beth in Georgia’s suggestions are excellent! I would add two things. 1. go to petsmart and make collar tags with your cell phone number on them. 2. get them microchipped at your vet. If they get out and slip out of their collars most shelters have a scanner that can read the chips and they will call your vet’s office which can then call you on your cell. Once you have moved you can contact the micro chip company and have them update the database with your new vets information. Good luck with the move. I have traveled frequently with my cats, (Thierry Henry in particular as he needs daily medication) and he is good for about 6-7 hours in the carrier. He wont eat, drink or use the box in the car, even if the car is stopped and he loves books on tape or talk radio as opposed to music because he his being “talked” to for the whole drive. Good luck with your move and keep us posted.
Oh yeah and getting them acclimated to the new place is a completely different thread. When we moved two years ago, they drug their bellies on the ground for a few days and Gracie hissed at everyone and everything including her food bow.!
Hi Chuck,
For safty reasons they all need to be in carriers. Clean water and the food they are use to eating. This might sound a little weird, but ….towels that you have used to dry yourself off with in the bottom of the carriers. They can get your scent and not get sooo freaked out. And use the litter you normally do. Oh and a nice bottle of wine for you of course.
Good luck. Sandie
Hi there, I’m in Brisbane, Australia and drove 1600km interstate with two teenage girls, 4 cats and one mouse … the cats were in a large cat carrier and slept thru the trip as they’d been to the vet, each to get a pet sleeping tablet, specially made for this purpose … the trip was trouble-free and, surprisingly, noise-free, given the 4 cats and mouse were all in the boot of my car.
We moved ~1000 miles with 3 cats, by car. Ours did very well. One just stayed in the carrier even with the top open. One snuggled down amongst the luggage in the back (Toyota 4-Runner). One stayed near me. None needed a tranquilizer though we got some from our vet before we left. We planned our trip and found hotels that accepted pets (just Google ‘pet friendly hotels’ and you’ll find plenty of sites to use). Oh, and we used a moving company so we didn’t have to worry about the moving truck. Perhaps we got lucky with our little fur-balls, but we had a great trip!
I moved my 4 Siamese cats from MI to TN. I converted the entire back end of the station wagon into a cozy quilt bed. I used a metal screen attached to the back seat to prevent them from getting up front on me while I drove. I stopped every two hours to pet them and give them fresh air, potty breaks, and water. They were a couple of days getting their bearings back once we arrived but all in all it worked. Good Luck..Peace
Awe, Gracie, you are adorable!!!
Say Goodnight Gracie 🙂
What a pretty snow-baby.
FUZZBUTT ALERT!!! Those of you in our community may remember me mentioning “Toy”, the cat that was found under the hood of a Toyota in our service department and taken home by one of our sales assistants. Her mom fell over the weekend and broke her hip, and cannot care for her…she’s had all of her shots, and is an absolute bundle of love, but I can’t take her permanently, as much as I would like to. If any of y’all are in the NW Florida area and can care for this darling, e-mail me at rangeratt@yahoo.com. I would really like to see her in a good home.
T
I’m so happy that Gracie has found ‘Somebody To Love’.
What a beautiful kitten and what a beautiful photo!
Does she know how pretty she is, or what?
Model FUZZ
Crazy? Well, that is her God given right as a baby kitty but she sure looks like a perfect little angel 🙂
Okay, now THIS is a BEAUTIFUL kitten! Just absolutely gorgeous…and a great photo of her, as well!
Hi Gracie! I used to have a Gracie myself, she was the love of my life. What a gorgeous sweetie you are! If your personality is as sweet as your face, then the person who belongs to you is quite lucky! **Smooches!!!**
What a great story!!

For Every Act of Kindness
I never imagined that the stray puppy I picked up years ago would save my family from disaster.
By Connie Pabey
The first time I saw Doty it was 10 degrees below zero and she was foraging for food with two other dogs on a service road along a busy highway in Chicago.
I was driving a food truck and had just finished a delivery to a place on Doty Road. As I hurried along to my next scheduled stop, I watched an enormous brown German shepherd with two puppies trotting down the road. The mother was so thin her skin had sunk into her rib cage–and the puppies didn’t look much better.
As I drove forward, one of the pups went into the frozen weeds on the side of the highway while the mother and sibling continued down Doty Road. To my horror a semi-truck was headed in my direction. As it came closer, the pup turned back to the road directly in front of the truck.
Within seconds, I stopped my vehicle, jumped out, and grabbed the startled puppy. There was no harm done to either of us, but now I was stuck with a dog that I did not want.
The mother had already disappeared from view, and I was left holding the most pitiful animal I had ever seen. Her body was covered with sores and there was no hair on her to even determine what color she was. But I couldn’t just leave her to fend for herself, so I grabbed a steak sandwich from the back of my food truck, wrapped the puppy in a scarf I had around my neck, and headed to my next stop.
The smell emanating from this sorrowful-looking canine was almost more than I could tolerate, but the joy of being warm and having some food in her belly made for a very happy dog.
I got off work and stopped at the veterinarian’s office to see if I could bring the puppy in later in the day. First I needed to take her to my house to bathe her.
Later, the vet did a thorough examination and determined that the puppy had many problems. The most important one was that she was malnourished. He informed me that she probably would not have lived for more than 48 hours if I had not brought her in. Secondly, she appeared to have been bitten by rats over a good portion of her little body. Lastly, she had a hernia in her abdomen that would require surgery.
Being a single mother of three daughters, I definitely could not afford the $750.00 that it was going to cost to get my new best friend healthy. But I believed that for some reason God intended for me to find this little gal, and he would provide a way.
I instructed the vet to do whatever he had to do to save the little puppy I named Doty.
And God did find a way! When my mail was delivered the next day I received a check for $825 that I had not been expecting. Now I’d be able to afford Doty’s surgery!
Over the next two years, Doty required more medical attention, but eventually she grew into a beautiful, healthy, and important addition to our family.
I’ve always believed that every act of kindness, no matter how small, will be given back in some unexpected way. When Doty was eight years old she paid me back every dollar spent for her care. In reality it was I who would end up owing her.
My daughters Shelly and Tracey, with their two toddlers Alex and Damon, had just returned from shopping and had pulled into the driveway of Tracey’s house. Tracey immediately took her son from his car seat and opened the front door. Doty walked onto the front porch and watched as Shelly placed her son on the ground and reached into the car to get her purse. Before she could pick Alex up, an enormous Rottweiler came charging from the bushes alongside the house and ran straight for her little boy.
Within seconds, Doty attacked the dog, which was more than twice her size. Shelly grabbed her son and ran for the house. In the meantime Doty kept the Rottweiler’s attention on her. When she knew the baby was safe, she crawled under the car where the Rottweiler couldn’t get to her and stayed there until the police and animal control arrived to come pick up the stray dog.
Needless to say, Doty became our hero. If she hadn’t been there I would hate to think of what might have happened to my grandson. My small act of kindness eight years earlier had been repaid many times over in a few short minutes.
Doty lived to be 12 years old. Shortly after being diagnosed with cancer, she had to be put down to spare her any more suffering. But she left behind a family that will always love her like no other dog before or since.

LOST DOG FOUND AFTER 3 WEEKS, 700 MILES
By OSKAR GARCIA, Associated Press Writer
Tue Nov 21, 3:37 PM ET
OMAHA, Neb. – A three-week search for the companion dog of an Oregon man battling depression has ended with a happy reunion in Wyoming, more than 700 miles from the spot where the pet was stolen.
Melody, a 12-year-old border collie mix, was found huddled under a pickup in Sheridan, Wyo.
Bliss Green of Myrtle Creek, Ore., had been e-mailing shelters around the country since losing his faithful companion Nov. 3. Melody was inside Green’s car when the vehicle was stolen at a York, Neb., gas station.
Green, 75, adopted the dog from a shelter 11 years ago, after going to a hospital because of suicidal impulses. A nurse practitioner wrote Green a prescription for Melody in 2003, allowing him to keep her with him at all times.
“If she was with me and knew I was upset about something, her head would come on my lap,” Green said. “I haven’t been depressed since I’ve had her.”
York police said they tracked a cell phone in Green’s car as it was used through Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Idaho and Oregon. It led them to the car and a suspect who was arrested in Oregon, Green said.
A Wyoming couple found the dog and fed her for a week, thinking she belonged to someone in the neighborhood, authorities said. Investigators connected the pet to Green after some of Green’s belongings from the car were found in the area.
Green was headed to Dayton on Tuesday to thank the couple. But first he was on his way to the grocery store to find Melody’s favorite foods.
“It’s my duty to feed some things to her to help her settle down — chicken livers being one of them,” Green said.
Here is a pic of Melody, the dog…

I love this quote!
Nothing in the world can take the place of Persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan ‘Press On’ has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.

ETHEREAL -FUZZ: beautiful!
Is TDK having technical difficulties, today?
She looks like she knows something, but she’s not telling! Beautiful grey eyes! What a sweet baby.
Gracie is adorable, and she looks as if she’s practising her “Mysterious Cat” persona at an early age.
Gracie has a Robert DeNiro, “are you talkin’ to me?” demeanor.
SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mutts fans: Have you checked out the store? The Mooch toy figure is adorable!

Gracie is sooooooo beautiful. She’s looks very loving.
Since we have been talking about traveling with cats, here is a link to an article from the Courier-Journal in Louisville about a cat that was lost on a trip and found a couple of weeks later. It has pictures of the cat as well.

Oh my God. Just came back from Thanksgiving vacation, and after checking email thought, I haven’t seen my daily kitties recently! So I go to the page, and voila! the cat I see looks familiar to me. It is the Grace that is owned by my love’s daughter! Small world! She’s beautiful Chris!
What a pretty kitty! In particular, her eyes are BEAUTIFUL!
What a beautiful baby kitten!!!
HI CHUCK, VERY IMPORTANT! When you get into a hotel room, before you let the cats out into the room check the entire floor everywhere. Under the bed in particular where vacuming is missed. I’ve heard of bad things that can be found; pills, needles, and many other things dangerous to kitties. You’ll need a flashlight. I carry a small vacume too. Also, try and get the kitties to drink water during the ride. My Harley boy (21 lbs.) was stressing near the end of our move (4 days – 1900 miles) and was sick for 2 days. He was dehydrated. Red Roof Inns are the only chain pet friendly hotel that I found consistently pet friendly and they are always right off the interstate. Make your reservations early that day and ask for a 1st floor room. The rooms are accessable from your outside parking space. OK I’m done.
too cute!
I can’t stop looking at her! What a beautiful girlie-cat and what a great picture. I’m in love (my boys will be so jealous). Hope she’s happy and healthy for many many years to come!
Gracie looks like a little gift from heaven! How innocent looking but also a bit mischievous!
She is just precious! – A gorgeous kitty!
She is a cutie- she looks amazingly similar to my own gray and white kitten- right down to the pink nose and mouth- must be from the same genetic line- anyway I hope you enjoy your precious girl as much as we do ours.
She looks so serene! But I’m sure she’s planning her next round of mischief!
SOO WHITE AS SNOW AND THOSE MYSTERIOUS EYES! SHE’S BEAUTIFUL!
Oh Gracie you sure make a beautiful picture. You look oh so comfy in that white blanket. Love your eyes.
