Holden Catfield… how aristocratic. 🙂 Holden knows he will be king of the jungle. He is a very handsome boy.
Holden Catfield has very sad eyes. He’s adorable. Cuddles to Holden the hungry.
That pose is purrfect! Looks like a true pint-lion 🙂
Holden is a wonderful baby boy.
Odd that you didn’t choose a black kitten for today, though?
My Renzo is a lovely black cat, but he is ten years old, so not a candidate for this adorable site.
Cutie! He’s got a great set of whiskers.. 🙂
his wiskers look soft
What a wee bright spark!
Orange kittens are so cute – and Holden is no exception! Great name.
Beaty is In the eye of the be-Holden 🙂

Sian
What a cute pumpkin. He is adorable.
What a literary name! I hope J.D. Salinger appreciates this. I LOVE the tongue! Bless the little fellow.
What a sweetie………….enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great name for a great cat! My three cats have literary names, as well. Gosh, that sounds pompous, eh? haha!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
If anyone is passing out candy tonight, remember to make sure your indoor cats don’t make a run for it!
and don’t forget to protect the outdoor kitties. I have an outdoor cat that adopted me, but tonight-he will be locked in my porch for safe keeping. Rather be safe than sorry
I had a cat named squeaky-poo, and a dog named freckles. The cat named Squeaky-poo was a wonderful bad little tabby girl, with a white bib and paws, and she was spoiled to death. My dog Freckles was a wonderful bad dog that the whole family loved. Actually both pets were family pets.
And PLEASE..keep them indoors tonight, especially black cats!
in all honesty, ALL kitties (or any 4 legged companion) need to be “safe from harms way”. we always brought our outdoor kitties in for Halloween night festivities, but we couldn’t find our 1 sweet baby (an orange kitty with orange eyes) – unfortunately…he never returned. we think something rotten happened, but there was always my thinking that some precious soul thought of protecting him too rather than the worst case scenario.
Great advice Dee! BTW hope you are well.
A picture of kitty perfection, that is what Holden is!
Happy Halloween everyone :))
The Carpenters don’t have to Raise The Roofbeam too high – this is such a little guy!
KITTER IN THE RYE FUZZ
i bet purring makes him hungry too
Looks like a little tiger….
Holden is such a cutie. Looks like he is licking his lips after going trick or treating!
Happy Halloween to everyone! Keep the chocolate away from the pets and have a good time.
interesting article….
*Shelter bans black cat adoptions during Halloween*
POSTED: 8:30 p.m. EDT, October 28, 2006
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — No black cat will cross your path this Halloween, not if a northern Idaho animal shelter can help it.
Like many shelters around the country, the Kootenai Humane Society in Coeur d’Alene is prohibiting black cat adoptions from now to November 2, fearing the animals could be mistreated in Halloween pranks — or worse, sacrificed in some satanic ritual.
The risk may be remote, said the shelter’s executive director, Phil Morgan.
“It’s kind of an urban legend. But in the humane industry it’s pretty typical that shelters don’t do adoptions of black cats or white bunnies because of the whole satanic sacrificial thing,” Morgan said. “If we prevent one animal from getting hurt, then it serves its purpose.”
Out of 97 cats at the shelter, 28 are black, Morgan said.
However, some animal experts say the practice does more to hurt animals than protect them.
“Black cats already suffer a stigma because of their color,” said Gail Buchwald, vice president of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals shelter in New York City. “Why penalize them any more by limiting the times when they can be adopted?”
Black cats tend to be adopted less often than other felines, Buchwald said.
“Behaviorally, there’s no difference from the color of the cat. It’s tied into this whole mythology about the animal — don’t let it cross your path or some foreboding or foreshadowing of evil — and that’s an outdated superstition,” she said.
It’s not clear how many shelters still seasonally ban black cat adoptions, said Kim Intino, director of animal sheltering issues for the Humane Society of the United States, but the trend seems to be fading — along with the once-common bans on bunny adoptions around Easter or puppy adoptions as Christmas gifts.
“If there were people out there performing rituals with animals, then I would think that Halloween would be a time for that, but a good adoption process would tend to weed that out,” Intino said. “There’s going to be incidents of weird abuse that happen no matter what. The remedy is not banning black cat adoptions.”
Black cats are regarded as lucky in the United Kingdom and having one cross your path even more so. Here you do not see them too often. Perhaps lots jumped ship when in US ports.
Remember Lucky. Lucky. Lucky
What luscious ginger coloring and majestic forehead markings! And darling little darting tongue! Love that little treasure always!
Thaat’s adorable! He looks sorta like my cat when he was a kitten… 😉
“HOLDEN CATFIELD” AWESOME name!
Awesome widdle kitteh! 😀
Here is a link to my favorite radio program; Coast to Coast. (I’m sure a lot of you listen to is, as well.) But, on Halloween night it’s re-named ‘Ghost to Ghost’. And listeners from around the country call in with their ghost stories! It’s very interesting and kind of scary. If you, like me, are an insomniac, you can listen at 1:00 AM EST. The link below will tell you what station you can find this great broadcast in your area. I’ve been addicted for 15 years!

Hope everyone has a HAPPY AND SAFE HALLOWEEN!!! 🙂
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO HOLDEN — Pumpkin colored kitten! And HAPPY HALLOWEEN to all you TDK’ers!
I wasn’t aware that black cats were more difficult for shelters to adopt out. I love black cats and know so many people who do! I had my black cat, Lyndon, with me for 20 years before he went to the rainbow bridge. I had Mickey and Minnie, too for many years…long haired part Persian black cats! (I never told them they were named after mice!)
I wasn’t aware of that, either. I currently have a black cat. And the best pet I ever had, Juliet, was a black cat that went to the Rainbow Bridge last year.
One of the workers at the animal shelter told me that black cats and black dogs are difficult to adopt out because of something called ‘black dog syndrome’. People just don’t ‘see’ the black animals. So they get over looked.
Re black cats, I have heard that in the UK at least it is the black-and-white moggies that are least likely to be adopted from shelters. Black cats seem to be very popular – there’s a very sleek one living just over the road from me.
Ah! A literary cat! He is charming and reminds me of my own Ghenghis Khat.
HALLOWEEN FUZZ!!! What a cutie pie!!

*Myths About Black Cats*
Black cats have taken a bad rap throughout history. Greek mythology taught that a woman named Galenthias was turned into a cat and became a priestess at the temple of Hecate, the “Dark Mother,” and sometimes known as the Mother of Witchcraft. During the 12th and 13th century, witches in Europe were often found with their “familiars,” usually black cats, and were said to turn themselves into cats at times. During the witch-burning era of the 17th century, witches’ cats were put into baskets and burned alongside the witches.
Even in the 21st century, old superstitions have survived. In many European countries and in the U.S., black cats signify bad luck, while in England, your luck is said to turn good if a black cat crosses your path.

*The Cat and The Husband*
A man absolutely hated his wife’s cat and decided to get rid of him one day by driving him 20 blocks from his home and leaving him at the park. As he arrived home, the cat was walking up the driveway.
The next day he decided to drive the cat 40 blocks away. He put the beast out and headed home. Driving back up his driveway, there was the cat!
He kept taking the cat farther and farther, but the cat would always beat him home. At last he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right until he reached what he thought was a safe distance from his home and left the cat there.
Hours later the man calls home to his wife: “Jen, is the cat there?”
“Yes”, the wife answers, “why do you ask?”
“I’m lost,” says the man, “and I need the cat to give me directions home.”
How touching is this?
*Halloween Angels*
By Steven J. Lesko Jr.
Submitted by Laurie S. Brooks
On Halloween, I brought my wife home from the hospital to live out her remaining days. Remembering that the children would come for trick-or-treat, and realizing I was not prepared with any candy, I quickly gathered whatever I could find in the house.
The first arrivals were three girls about fifteen years old. I apologized for my poor treats and told them I was not able to get any because of my wife’s illness. They thanked me and went off. About a minute later they returned, and each one gave me a handful of candy from their bags. Through my tears, I tried to return it, but these wonderful young ladies rushed off, leaving me with: “We hope she gets well.”
I do not know these beautiful young women, but I’d like them to know that their simple act of kindness brought joy and hope to me when there was none.
Even though my wife has since passed on, the memories of a sad time will be brightened by the thought of the kindness of these three angels. May God bless them.
That’s so sweet!! I haven’t met very many people who are like that. There just aren’t that many left in the world. I agree, they are angels.
kitty – lickerin’ goooodd !! smile now ??
contributory cat!!! tom (him)
Lovely story! What a wonderful thing for those young ladies to do. I love reading what people post on this website. Some make me sad and some make me laugh but the pictures of the kitties warm my heart.
Thank you all for sharing and making my day. 😀
awww what a cute little punkin he is! love the face!!! so sweet.
What a precious lil’ tastycake he is!!! I’d say “I want him” but I think I may have acquired two more fluffbutts today, and so I’m not even going to tempt fate!
This morning I went out to get a bag of cat litter out of my truck, and lying in the gutter was a tiny little black-and-white kitty, in very bad shape. She was drooling, and obviously very hungry and dehydrated, and what was worse, she was lying right along the curb, where someone would be SURE to run her over. I went into the house, grabbed the carrier, looked up the nearest vet, and took her there. The vet gives her a 50% chance–at the very least, she needs fluids, de-worming, and who-knows-what else…but I had to give her a chance. And if she lives, that’ll be fluffbutt #3. Send some good energy in her direction, would you?
Then this evening I found that my neighbor had released a beautiful little Siamese kitten and her mother–the mother is now pregnant AGAIN–and though I wanted to take them in, I was afraid my two boys might catch something from them–so I left some food on the porch (and the half-a-pork-chop the kitten had managed to steal out of my groceries while I negotiated for them to go back home–no dice) If they’re still around tomorrow, I’m going to take them to the shelter. The kitten is gorgeous; I’m way past tempted to keep him, but I’m heading toward crazy-cat-lady status here…and my boys would never forgive me if I brought in TWO interlopers!!!
I hope they will all be OK and in warm cozy beds soon..
I love the pumpkin kitty! So sweet, I love his markings. Wonderful name, too!
Holden Catfield–What a face!
Kittens are a life-changing experience. My 3 fuzzbutts and I live alone in an apartment. I go every day to care for my dying mother-in-law and it’s pretty sad so coming home to the kitties is awesome and together we race to the computer to see the new kitten and we smile together.
Holden is amazing and so full of love and eternal sweetness.
Fran

HE LOOKS LIKE MY FORREST (A GIRL-(my son loves the movie Forrest Gump)) WHEN SHE WAS LITTLE. FORREST IS 2 NOW, MY SON HAD ADOPTED HER WHEN HE LIVED WITH A FRIEND. THEN HE HAD TO MOVE BACK HOME AND BRING HER, WHICH IS WHEN I FELL IN LOVE WITH HER. HE GAVE HER TO ME FOR CHRISTMAS THE FOLLOWING YEAR!! I THINK IT WAS PROBABLY THE HARDEST THING HE EVER DID. I’VE FOUND THAT THE ORANGE KITTIES ARE SO FUN AND INTELLIGENT! THANKS FOR HOLDENS PICTURE!! HE IS JUST SOOOOOO CUTE…. 🙂
Holden is absolutely adorable! The facial expression is so cute! I am still feeding the 2 stray kitties here at the campground.. Wish I could find homes for them. The shelter won’t take them. They are both friendly and very appreciative of the food and water and petting.
I also have 2 black cats and love them I had 4 black cats at one time. I love them! Tigger has broken that by being a brown tiger. He is crazy!
Hope all had a safe Halloween.
