aaaawwwwwwwwwww
Just a hello to Hamilton!!! My best friend lives there! we grew up in East York.
my, my, my … such massive ears you have for such a teeny tiny face. and a curious face at that…plotting her next “adventure” 🙂
she is absolutely adorable!
Thanks for sharing Mila … you have a very sweet kitty!
Looks like she’s getting ready to pounce on something. 🙂
Awww! What a sweet baby! Pretty lil angel.
“Can I pounce on it? Gonna anyway!”
Im gonna sic it…get it….and tear it up. Mila is so very pretty and such soft coloring!
oh – what big eyes. She was just about to fall asleep & something caught her eye – she’s adorable!!
I have a couple of questions.
I am one of at least a couple of people who take care of an apartment cat. I am guessing that a student abandoned her for convenience. The cat comes to visit fairly regularly – but if I don’t see her for a while I guess she is with someone else whose hospitality she prefers. Anyway – my questions.
1. The cat drools when she is petted. I have never seen this before – is it ok? She seems pretty healthy – her coat has a sheen (I comb her whenever she drops by) and her nose is moist.
2. It has been extremely hot here – sometimes I see her w. her mouth open – something like a dog panting.
3. For the last couple of days she has not been eating much – sort of picking. I mix kibbles with wet food a couple of times a day – in the morning before work and then before I go to bed – she eats on my porch and leaves.
By the way – she prefers to go outside -not that I like it – but I am very allergic and I think she would kill me if she lived with me. Also – I don’t think I’m her favorite care taker.
Any answers or observations will be appreciated.
1. that is typical of cats drooling – nothing to be concerned about really. i have never experienced it when they are petted. A few of my other cats used to do that when they “needed” like they were “pretend nursing”.
2. when it is hot – animals typically eat less “food”. i would suggest supplying the kitty with extra water just to make sure that they are hydrated.
3. with the hot weather in connection with this, i would say it is normal for animals to “pick at their food” – dogs do the same thing, from what i am told.
unless the kitty shows signs of being physically sick (bringing food back up) or looking emaciated – you might consider taking her to a vet for peace of mind that she is “okay”.
Meegle is right.
My mother has a cat that not only drools, he sucks on his tail!
He was bottle raised so that’s likely why.
You can take medication for allergies and even bathing the cat can help,
Thanks for looking after her.
The kitten is so cute!
Charles,
Many cats drool in a state of kitty euphoria while being petted. One of mine always does this—ick. And meegle’s reply is right on target—most animals eat less when the weather is hot, and most cats “pick” at their food throughout the day—-a few bites here and there. Since it has been very hot there, it is normal for her to pant from time to time—-but, if she has plenty of fresh water (try putting a few ice cubes in her bowl) , she will stay hydrated. It’s normal for cats to pant after playing very hard, as well. If she was raised as an indoor-outdoor cat, it may be very difficult to turn her into a completely indoor cat, although indoor cats fare much better without any of the dangers of the “outside world.” But, she sounds fine, and thank you for taking care of her.
PS. Since she is outdoors so much, please see that she gets spayed soon. Animal shelters and the Humane Society charge very reasonable fees.
My cat switched from an indoor-outdoor cat to a complete indoor cat when we moved. I think it couased him to gain some serious weight though. Probably a lack of exercise. Anyway my point is it can be done….just takes awhile. 🙂 very adorable kitty
While I always enjoy the kittie pics, I have not yet posted here. I am “mommy” to three “puppies” and 9 (yes, 9!) “kitties” — all rescues. With regard to the panting Charles mentions, I had a stray I was caring for during a particularly hot summer and also noticed the panting. I called my vet who advised me that when a cat pants it is a sign it is in distress. I think the advice to get the kittie to a cool place is probably an excellent one.
my cat drools like a madman when pet. always has. that’s when i know i’m getting the “right spot”!
My cat, Theo has a special spot on his head. When I scratch it, he just grunts, his eyes roll back into his head and he falls over! So sweet.
That is the cutest thing, ever!
Charles, another possibility is that kitty is having some kind of tooth trouble? My Aspen noticeably stopped eating when an infection she had developed in her mouth led to problems with her teeth. If the lack of eating keeps up, it would be worth checking out, though I know how difficult it is getting strays to the vet. Good luck!
What a little cutie pie! Those eyes are so beautiful!
Charles, your questions about the cat are good ones. Some cats drool when you pet them and it’s only because they’re enjoying it, so nothing to worry about there, and the moist nose is normal. If it’s hot and the cat has her mouth open, it’s similar to a dog panting, as you suspected. It would be best if you could get her to a cool place, but if that’s not possible, get a wet cloth and rub it over her fur. That might help a little, but cats can’t sweat and so there’s the danger of a heat-related problem. If she’s eating less than normal even though you haven’t changed her food, there could be a couple of reasons. If her lack of appetite seems to be related to the heat, that might account for it. However, I wouldn’t rule out taking her to a vet if her food consumption seems to drop off quite a bit. You could try giving her just the wet food to see how she responds, but a change in appetite shouldn’t be overlooked for too long. And as far as your allergies are concerned, I can sympathize with you because I used to have bad cat allergies, but they disappeared on their own. I guess my five cats are probably grateful for that. You can bathe cats (if they’ll allow you to) and I’ve read that it can help remove some of what makes people allergic to cats. But, most of all, thank you for being a kind and caring person and if, by any chance, you live in New York, you can report whoever abandoned the cat (if anybody knows who it is) because it’s against the law and the penalty can be a fine or even jail time. Good luck. I hope everything works out.
Cute adorable little bright eyed Mila. She looks like she’s ready to play any time. She will bring a lot of joy to your life.
Mila is beautiful. With the pillows as her backdrop, she looks like she is the queen of a surreal kingdom!
Mila is a pretty girl. She has a nice “M” on her forehead. 🙂
Oh she looks so soft. I just want to gather her in a little ball and per her until she fell asleep.
Shout out to Charles, thank you for your kindness to the cat. A lot of the pet stores carry cat wipes that you can use to wipe them down and get some of the saliva and dander off of them. It is not as traumatic as a bath and could really help your allergies. It is possible that several of you are her friends. Have you talked to any of the other neighbors? Could be a great way to get to make new friends and maybe set a feeding schedule. Reminds me of a children’s book I had called “Part Time Dog” about a stray named Brownie who had breakfast with one neighbor, lunch with another and dinner with a third. Happy ending the neighbors became friends, fenced their back yards together and shared the love of the dog.
She’s resting, but you can tell by the look in her eyes that she could go nutty at any second!
Mila is so cute. She looks like she is just waiting for some mischief.
Ok it will take a while but here comes the rsults of my survey
I’m still a hunt & pecker Sorry!!!
Hi Chester, sorry I don’t usually post on the daily kitten, but I am from NortwestNJ (East Hanover). All the kittens are beautiful and precious angels from heaven. Bless all of you who took in rescues, saved them ,etc. there is a special place in heaven for you.
Thank you all very much – I feel a lot better – especially about the drooling – knowing that it’s a sign she’s happy.
By the by – this cat has been around for a couple of years. I imagine someone had her spayed. And to be perfectly, honest, I am not totally sure it’s a she – I can’t see.
Also – about bathing her. This is one cat that does not like to be held. She has very definite opinions when she’ll be petted and when she won’t.
I am a feline flunky. Probably part of the order of the universe.
all the same, props to you for being caring enough to make sure that s/he receives attention and food.
all kitties are finnicky and s/he chose you as her/his savior – it’s great that you are concerned enough to find out from others that her/his actions are normal. Thank you fro caring for your “part time kitty”! 🙂
mila is very precious……..thankyou for sharing her with us
Adorable! Just look at those big eyes and precious little face! May God bless and protect you and Mila always. 🙂
The bigness of those paws, the brightness of those jade eyes…

What a precious and adorable kitten. Mila has such a sweet face. Amazing, that a love for kittens can bring so many together from so many places! I used to have relatives in Italy.
Sorry Renee I mistook the AR for Arizona. I didn’t have a list of abreviations to compare them all to. So please accept my apologies.
Make that 25 states!!!
Hi Chester, apology accepted. It took me awhile to learn all the states when they changed all the abbreviations.
he is so cute! looks like one of my babies right now (i have 5!).

Amazed at how many great images you manage to post here.
Kind of cute….
* Feline Miracle Diet*
Most diets fail because we are still thinking and eating like people. For those us who have never had any success dieting, now there is the new Cat Miracle Diet!
Most cats are long and lean (or tiny and petite). The Cat Miracle Diet will help you achieve the same lean, svelte figure. Just follow this diet for 4 days and you’ll find that you not only look and feel better, but you will have a whole new outlook on what constitutes food. Good Luck!
DAY ONE
Breakfast: Open can of expensive gourmet cat food. Any flavor as long as it costs more than .75 per can — and place 1/4 cup on your plate. Eat 1 bite of food; look around room disdainfully. Knock the rest on the floor. Stare at the wall for awhile before stalking off into the other room.
Lunch: Four blades of grass and one lizard tail. Throw it back up on the cleanest carpet in your house.
Dinner: Catch a moth and play with it until it is almost dead. Eat one wing. Leave the rest to die.
Bedtime snack: Steal one green bean from your spouse’s or partner’s plate. Bat it around the floor until it goes under the refrigerator. Steal one small piece of chicken and eat half of it. Leave the other half on the sofa. Throw out the remaining gourmet cat food from the can you opened this morning.
DAY TWO
Breakfast: Picking up the remaining chicken bite from the sofa. Knock it onto the carpet and bat it under the television set. Chew on the corner of the newspaper as your spouse/partner tries to read it.
Lunch: Break into the fresh French bread that you bought as your part of the dinner party on Saturday. Lick the top of it all over. Take one bite out of the middle of the loaf.
Afternoon snack: Catch a large beetle and bring it into the house. Play toss and catch with it until it is mushy and half dead. Allow it to escape under the bed.
Dinner: Open a fresh can of dark-colored gourmet cat food — tuna or beef works well. Eat it voraciously. Walk from your kitchen to the edge of the living room rug. Promptly throw up on the rug. Step into it as you leave. Track footprints across the entire room.
DAY THREE
Breakfast: Drink part of the milk from your spouse’s or partner’s cereal bowl when no one is looking. Splatter part of it on the closest polished aluminum appliance you can find.
Lunch: Catch a small bird and bring it into the house. Play with it on top of your down-filled comforter.
Dinner: Beg and cry until you are given some ice cream or milk in a bowl of your own. Take three licks/laps, and then turn the bowl over on the floor.
FINAL DAY
Breakfast: Eat 6 bugs, any type, being sure to leave a collection of legs, wings, and antennae on the bathroom floor. Drink lots of water. Throw the bugs and all the water up on your spouse’s or partner’s pillow.
Lunch: Remove the chicken skin from last night’s chicken-to-go leftovers your spouse or partner placed in the trash can. Drag the skin across the floor several times. Chew on it in a corner and then abandon.
Dinner: Open another can of expensive gourmet cat food. Select a flavor that is especially runny, like Chicken and Giblets in Gravy. Lick off all the gravy and leave the actual meat to dry and get hard.
Don’t you look thinner?

Very cool! Please add another Californian to the list. I live in Half Moon Bay.
She is so sweet!!!!!!! And it look like she is thinking about her next adventure. Of course she would never think about getting into any type of mischief, not with that innocent little face of hers.
Tear-jerker alert! (Good tears, not bad tears….)
*Laser, the Therapist*
By Nancy Kucik
The moment he reached his little paw through the cage bars at the humane society, I was a goner. I wasn’t looking for another cat – I already had two – but was just stopping by to give the animals some attention. When the shelter volunteer, apparently knowing a sucker when she saw one, asked if I would like to hold him, there was no longer any doubt. He came home with me that day.
He was a gorgeous cat, a five-month-old blue-point Siamese with eyes like blue laser beams: thus, his name. Right from the beginning, it was obvious that Laser was an exceptional cat. He loved everyone – the other cats, visitors to the house, even the dog who later joined the household.
I first heard about animal-assisted therapy several months after we adopted Laser. While most of what I heard was about dogs, it occurred to me that Laser would be perfect for this type of work. I signed up for the training class, and, after completing the preliminary requirements, Laser and I passed the test to become registered Delta Society Pet Partners.
While he had always been a little lovebug at home, Laser found his true calling when we began to go on visits. Whether it was with sick kids at the children’s hospital, seniors with Alzheimer’s disease, or teens in a psychiatric unit, Laser always knew just what to do. He curled up on laps or beside bed-bound patients and happily snuggled close. He never tried to get up until I moved him to the next person. People often commented that they’d never seen a cat so calm and friendly. Even people who didn’t like cats liked him!
One young man, who had been badly burned in a fire, smiled for the first time since his accident when Laser nestled under his lap blanket. A little boy, tired and lethargic from terminal leukemia, rallied to smile, hug Laser and kiss his head, and then talked endlessly about Laser after the visits. Several geriatric patients with dementia, who were agitated and uncommunicative prior to Laser’s appearance, calmed down and became talkative with each other and the staff after a visit from my therapeutic feline partner. It has been our hospice visits, though, that I consider the most challenging and rewarding of all our Pet Partner experiences.
One day, I got a phone call telling me about a hospice patient at a nearby nursing home who had requested a visit by a cat. At the time, only one cat – Laser – actively participated in the local program. Even so, my first inclination was to make some excuse not to do it. I have always had issues with death and dying, and a hard time talking about it to anyone, but I quickly realized how selfish I was being – the poor woman was dying, and all she asked was that I bring my cat to visit. I said yes.
A few days later, we made our first visit. Mrs. P. was ninety-one years old, and although her body was weak, her mind was still very sharp. It was a little awkward at first (what do you say to a perfect stranger who knows she’s dying?), but Laser was a great conversation catalyst. He crawled into bed with her and curled up right next to her hip – exactly where her hand could rest on his back. She told me stories about the cat she and her husband had years ago.
“See you next week,” she said as we got up to leave.
We visited every Sunday during the three months that followed, and a real friendship developed between us. Mrs. P. would excitedly exclaim, “Laser!” every time we appeared at her door and “See you next week!” every time we left. She had been gradually getting weaker, but, one week when we arrived to see her, I was distressed to see that her condition had deteriorated significantly. Still, she smiled and said, “Laser!” when we walked into the room.
She complained of being cold, even though the room was warm, and when Laser cuddled up close to her, she said, “Oh, he’s so warm – it feels so good.” We had a nice visit, even though Mrs. P. wasn’t feeling very well. Her hand never left Laser’s back. As we left, she said her usual, “See you next week,” and I hoped that was true.
The next Saturday, a phone call informed me that Mrs. P. was going downhill rapidly, and that she probably wouldn’t live more than another few days. I asked if we should still come for our visit, and the nurse told me that she thought that would be wonderful.
When we arrived, it was obvious that Mrs. P. was dying. She was fading in and out of consciousness, but when she noticed that Laser and I were beside her bed, she smiled and whispered, “Laser.”
She was having a very hard time breathing, so I told her not to try to talk; we would just sit quietly and keep her company. Laser took his spot on the bed next to her hip, and Mrs. P. rested her hand on his soft back. Neither of them moved from that position for the entire length of our visit. This time, when we got up to leave, Mrs. P. whispered, “Thank you.” She knew that there would be no “next week” for us.
A couple of days later, I got the phone call telling me that Mrs. P. had died. I was sad – our weekly visits had been so wonderful – but I was glad that she was no longer in pain. I remembered how I had considered declining to make the hospice visits and was so grateful that I had not.
In our seventh year as a Pet Partner team, Laser and I still make visits to several facilities. Laser, the little cat that nobody wanted, is as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside, and he continues to brighten the lives of everyone he meets.
Dee that did bring a few tears. I used to have a bluepoint siamese named clueless (cluey for short) I would take her and her 28-pound Maine Coon Cat companion to a local nursing home for visits. Cluey was like laser. Happy to sit on any warm lap for as long as she was wanted. Pelphrey the Maine Coon walked on a leash and harness and loved to be petted. Often he was just too heavy for laps but did great at sitting next to people. My current crop of cats are just too squirelly to take visiting. Thanks for bringing back some good memories.
ppearson—I did the exact same thing with my (since departed) Juliet—-the nursing home residents adored her. They gave her toys at Christmas! (Juliet got WAY more presents than I did! haha) But, like yours, my current cats are too hyper. Does it sound bad that I don’t think I’ll ever have another pet like Juliet? I’ve loved every pet I’ve ever had, but she was just extra-special….I guess most of us have (or have had) that one perfect pet….
Dee, no it doesn’t sound bad that some pets become more special than others. I have a lifetime of cats, dogs, horses, etc and I can truly say the Cluey was different from all the rest. She was mine from first breath to last and was the most social, loving, easy going cat I have ever known. She loved visitors and car rides. Was very patient and kind with small children and the elderly. We love them all but sometimes one or two transcend to almost a higher plane in our lives.
You have all read about my boys Domino and Taffy. I took care of my mama for a long time (not long enough) she had Alzheimer’s. I had a hospital bed for her in the dinning room so she could be in the middle of the action. Dom and Taff would climb up on the bed and lie down next to her and snuggle. Sometimes they would walk one at a time to the head of the bed to say hello, mama would smile and then they would go back to their positions. The night my mama died and was taken to the funeral home they jumped up on the bed looking for her. The three of us spent the night cuddeling on the bed giving each other the comfort we each needed.
Awww, Susan….that made me cry. Very touching…your fur babies sounded very special….
Dee, I loved the story about Laser. Thanks. I agree, everyone has an extra special kitty come into their life at one time or another. I’ve had several and still have many now.
Oh Dee, you have found yet another perfect story. So touching. Bless you for finding these sometimes humourous, always heatwarming tales of life as we humans and our animal companions live our lives from day to day. Keep up the good work.
Mila is an adorable angel. So precious! Good luck with her!
Che bella Mila! E una vera principessa.
How did you find a blanket to match her eyes?
Catherine
Silvery-grey goodness! What a pretty little treasure! Delicate markings and alert green eyes! Love her always!
Anyone else notice that Mila has an M on her forehead? How appropriate!
Green Eyed Bandit FUZZ!!!!
Oh ny gosh what a sweet baby! give her a big cuddle for me!
I just have to add another comment about Mila…she is so CUTE. I just noticed that from the image, it seems as though when the picture was taken – someones handwas underneath the blanket to keep her attention towards the blanket, just moments prior to departure of conquering the “blanket mice”!
I just love this pic. Mila is very sweet! I wish my babies were still this tiny!
SOOOOO CUTE!!!
*”What is that?” FUZZ*
The ear fuzz and green eyes make this darling.
*Fixated Fuzz*
What a sweet sweet Mila. Gosh I love kitten pictures.
she is just precious. too cute!
Chester—-
Thanks for compiling the list of where we all come from. I would have never guessed the # of places. The feline language is universal.
Dee—
I cried when I read Laser’s story. My mom has a therapy cat, but since we moved, she hasn’t gone visiting. This story reminds me of some my mom has shared. You also cracked me up with the kitty diet. I’m glad Gally doesn’t need to lose any weight. lol
LuKa—
Your baby is just precious! She has the look of an angel and yet she looks mischievous, too. I love her eyes in this picture. Give her lots of hugs and kisses.
Hi everyone!
Dee, thank you for the story of Laser! That did indeed bring tears to my “peepers”.
I have a request from those who believe in prayer: my cat, Baby has been losing weight for the past few weeks(lost about 3 lbs.), she’s 17 yrs. old and she has been having projectile vomit every couple of days, Today, I toke her to the vet, who ordered blood work. No diagnosis, yet, of course. Now, the prayer part: I’m praying that whatever is the matter with my Baby-girl is a minor problem and not terribly traumatic for her, nor me.
Thank you for all prayers and good thoughts our way!
I will keep both you and Baby in my thoughts and prayers. I know what you are going through and my heart goes out to you. I will pray that everything will be alright.
Hang in there. __,,,__=^..^=__,,,__
I, too, have been through this. My prayers are with you both. I pray for a good result. Stay strong.
I’ve Been there with two of my girls. They say the waiting the hardest part. We will keep you and Baby in our prayers.
What big eyes you have! Mila, you are absolutely adorable and I would love to cuddle you. Beautiful babe!
Chester, all that info was great and it is a small world we live in. Thanks.
Keep the kitty pictures coming and the stories of rescues and survivals. I love this site!
My cat’s name is Mila too!
Mila is pretending to be quiet and sweet but there is a glint of mischief in those beautiful eyes. She looks like she is about to leap on something. or someone.
ATTACK!
What a gorgeous little silver girl.
AWWW wat a cute lil kitty!!
AWW!!!!!!! Shes so cute!!!!!!!!! I so want her! Can I? LOL! Kidding! But I would really like to own her!LOL! Don’t we all?
